Fusion Builds Standard Cold Chain Solution on 麻豆原创 BTP /2024/11/sap-btp-fusion-standard-cold-chain-solution/ Mon, 25 Nov 2024 12:15:00 +0000 /?p=230110 Patient safety and environmental sustainability are driving cold chain innovation in the life sciences industry. Advanced technologies are essential for maintaining product integrity and ensuring safe, effective treatments worldwide.

Fusion Cold Chain Management Solution is available on 麻豆原创 Store

The biopharma industry faces substantial challenges in managing temperature-controlled logistics, leading to an estimated $35 billion in annual losses due to cold chain failures. , 50% of vaccines are rendered ineffective upon arrival due to uncontrolled temperature fluctuations. This not only poses risks to patient health, but also results in significant environmental and resource wastage. Every damaged vaccine represents a loss of raw materials, energy, and resources invested in production, transportation, and storage — ultimately contributing to environmental strain through increased waste.

Cold chain management is crucial for preserving the efficacy of temperature-sensitive products like vaccines and biologics. In the U.S., FDA regulations, including the CGMP and USP <1079> Good Storage and Distribution Practices for Drug Products, mandate temperature control to help ensure drug stability throughout the supply chain. Similarly, the EU Good Distribution Practice guidelines require strict temperature monitoring to maintain pharmaceutical quality, setting high standards for handling temperature-sensitive products.

To address these challenges, companies in the life sciences industry are leveraging advanced technologies with 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform (麻豆原创 BTP) to proactively manage temperature fluctuations.

麻豆原创 BTP enables seamless integration and data sharing across systems, providing critical insights for rapid, data-driven decisions that help maintain temperature stability. This strengthens supply chain resilience, minimizes product loss, and reduces environmental impact, helping ensure the safe and effective delivery of temperature-sensitive products.

Fusion鈥檚 Cold Chain Management Solution

In this context, Fusion Consulting has developed Cold Chain Management Solution (CCMS), a standard solution built on 麻豆原创 BTP in close collaboration with the 麻豆原创 product team for Life Sciences. The solution supports the integrity of temperature-sensitive products, including medicines, vaccines, and other perishables across the end-to-end supply chain. Any failure can result in temperature excursions and deviations, which threaten product efficacy and pose risks to patient safety while also leading to financial loss.

CCMS supports the management of products under controlled storage, preventing temperature excursions and deviations throughout the supply chain. Typically, manufacturing and supply processes track time out of refrigeration (TOR) and time In refrigeration (TIR), both of which accumulate the time a product spends within different temperature zones — cold, ambient, or frozen, for example — on the journey from the production line to the patient at the end of the supply chain.

Before Fusion CCMS, tracking TOR and TIR relied on a combination of custom-built in-house legacy systems, as well as error-prone manual paper-based processes. This led to complicated, time-consuming workloads, high error rates, re-work, and bureaucracy — all of which ultimately risks patient safety, product efficacy, and regulatory compliance.

CCMS digitalizes TOR and TIR tracking, offering full visibility of temperature conditions across the supply chain to proactively prevent anomalies. With automated workflows and smart alerts, it minimizes spoilage and patient risk, integrating with 麻豆原创 systems to enhance efficiency and safety through automated data from RFID and IoT devices.

鈥淭he Fusion Cold Chain Management Solution exemplifies the power of collaboration and innovation on 麻豆原创 BTP,” said Andreas Krummlauf, vice president of Life Sciences and Healthcare Product Management at 麻豆原创. “By addressing critical challenges in temperature-sensitive product management, it enhances patient safety, regulatory compliance, and reduces environmental impact. This solution perfectly extends our 麻豆原创 for Life Sciences solution portfolio, aligning with our strategy to offer comprehensive capabilities to our customers. We’re proud to support partners like Fusion in developing cutting-edge solutions that drive meaningful change in life sciences delivery.鈥

鈥淭he collaboration with 麻豆原创 is a prime example of how innovative strength and expertise can lead to literally life-saving solutions that transform the industry, such as the CCMS,鈥 said Fares Zaier, chief revenue officer of Fusion Consulting.

The described TOR information is one of the crucial attributes that need to be checked by the Quality department. This is relevant throughout the whole supply chain process, whenever a batch decision needs to be taken. Throughout the entire value chain, sharing this information is of utmost importance.

Having the 麻豆原创 Batch Release Hub for Life Sciences solution and Fusion CCMS both built on the 麻豆原创 BTP Platform enables seamless integration into the process flow. This in turn enables seamless integration of systems, helping ensure data consistency and optimizing processes.

By combining these powerful solutions, companies in the life sciences industry lay the foundation for future innovations. Ultimately, the close cooperation between Fusion Consulting and 麻豆原创 has enabled the development of solutions that not only meet current requirements, but also those of the future.

Looking to the future, Fusion plans to set up its industry consortium working with top life sciences customers to continuously taking their feedback and requirement into the product design and development.

How Industry Innovation Gives Partners a Runway for Sustained Success /2023/11/industry-cloud-innovation-sap-partners-success/ Fri, 10 Nov 2023 13:15:00 +0000 /?p=213303 Have you ever wondered at the workings of the modern airport and the ecosystem around it, how so many complex and disparate moving parts come together to deliver a high-quality travel experience to flyers?

Granted, those experiences aren鈥檛 always positive. But when everything is working in sync 鈥 travel and transportation infrastructure, aerospace technology, energy, retail, hospitality, and more 鈥 to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts, my thoughts can鈥檛 help but shift skyward, to another more familiar ecosystem.

Grow and find a competitive edge with industry cloud solutions from 麻豆原创 and partners

Among the many developments I鈥檝e witnessed lately as a result of 麻豆原创鈥檚 growing focus on industry innovation, 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud and the partner ecosystem that supports it stand out. They鈥檙e proving my long-held belief that a high level of collaboration with partners across companies and industries, similar to what occurs at airports, can open boundless opportunities to cultivate new markets, customers, and revenue sources. 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud has yielded close to 400 solutions across 25 industry verticals, 80% of which were developed by partners either on their own or in collaboration with 麻豆原创. About 1,900 unique customers are using these solutions, and they鈥檙e renewing them at a rate above 90%.

What鈥檚 driving the industry innovation momentum? And why should 麻豆原创 partners consider engaging in the co-innovation effort if they鈥檙e not already, or get more involved if they are? Here are five competitive justifications:

  1. Future readiness: A business landscape that is perpetually shifting and evolving, often in unexpected ways, demands a business mindset that embraces change and seeks out opportunities to innovate 鈥 a mindset of future readiness. A focus on industry innovation fosters future readiness on multiple levels. It gives partners a portfolio of solutions to help their customers prepare for a future where cloud solutions will be instrumental to their digital transformation efforts. One leading global consulting firm predicts that by 2027, enterprises will be using industry cloud platforms to accelerate more than half of their critical business initiatives. What鈥檚 more, working within an industry cloud environment like 麻豆原创鈥檚 can give partners themselves a future-ready model for growing their business.
  2. Business ecosystems and networks: By bringing their industry knowledge and intellectual property to a business ecosystem like the one that supports 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud, partners can become a multiplier for industry innovation, moving solutions through the development pipeline and to customers faster together than they otherwise could working individually. We鈥檙e witnessing this multiplier effect within specific industries like consumer products, life sciences, automotive, energy, and industrial manufacturing, where collaboration within industry-focused business ecosystems is fueling a fresh wave of co-innovation.
  3. Modularity and integration: One of my team鈥檚 responsibilities is to maintain the industry cloud opportunity map, a comprehensive architecture of potential and already developed solutions that comprise the present and future of industry innovation in the cloud. A glance at the opportunity map tells a compelling story about all the white space available to partners to fill out the portfolio. Intellectual property and ideas are the building blocks in this case. The door is wide open for partners to bring use cases that enhance, extend, or add to an existing solution, or that fill gaps in the opportunity map. Using 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform (麻豆原创 BTP) and 麻豆原创 Store, they can rapidly develop their ideas and turn them into commercialized solutions that customers can readily integrate.
  4. Industry convergence: Just like at the airport, we鈥檙e seeing the lines between industries blur and converge as traditional value chains merge. This creates massive opportunities for 麻豆原创 partners to develop new revenue streams around solutions that they adapt from one industry for use in another, or that can be used by customers across multiple industries. Electric vehicle charging is sparking a convergence among automotive, energy, oil and gas, utility, and retail and consumer products, for example. And that, in turn, is providing fertile territory for 麻豆原创 partners with use cases and intellectual property in these areas to collaborate and create new solutions that can add value for customers.
  5. Customer experience: By focusing on industry innovation, our goal is to give customers exactly what they need to succeed from a digital solutions standpoint. The better 麻豆原创, our partners, and all of us collectively as an ecosystem are at delivering the solutions customers need, the more trust we create with them. And that opens even more possibilities for 麻豆原创, partners, and customers alike 鈥 possibilities that conjure the familiar feeling I get at the airport when I鈥檓 waiting to board my next flight.

麻豆原创’s Industry Cloud Drives Innovation in Utilities Through Cloud-Based Apps and Partner Collaborations /2023/10/sap-industry-cloud-drives-innovation-in-utilities/ Wed, 18 Oct 2023 11:15:00 +0000 /?p=212589 Had someone asked me during the early days of 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud which among the roughly two-dozen industries we serve would provide the most fertile territory for our partners to innovate with cloud-based apps, I鈥檒l admit the utilities sector may not have landed near the top of my list.

But with so many new partner-developed apps moving through the industry cloud pipeline and to 麻豆原创 Store lately, I鈥檝e learned not to underestimate how compelling the opportunities are for partners to commercialize new use cases to extend 麻豆原创鈥檚 portfolio of solutions for utility customers, nor how open those customers are to moving business processes to the cloud.

The volume of utility-focused apps produced via industry cloud, and the speed at which they鈥檙e being commercialized, underscores several noteworthy trends for 麻豆原创 partners:

  1. 罢丑别谤别鈥檚 vast white space within the utilities product road map for partners to turn their intellectual property and use cases into solutions that generate new revenue streams and customers.
  2. That white space continues to create huge opportunities for 麻豆原创 partners to enhance and extend 麻豆原创 solutions in the utilities sector by developing their own solutions using 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform (麻豆原创 BTP).
  3. Partners are taking advantage of the plentiful resources 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud offers to help support and expedite the commercialization process.

Let鈥檚 first talk about white space. Our product road map for utilities has plenty of it, along with a flexible framework to accommodate partner innovations that lead in exciting and sometimes unexpected new directions. That鈥檚 all by design. We鈥檝e realized that to give customers exactly what they need to thrive, it鈥檚 often better to let our partners use their expertise to augment the 麻豆原创 portfolio with solutions they develop themselves, with assistance from us where and when it鈥檚 needed.

How can 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud help your business innovate, scale, and grow?

That could include extensions and enhancements to 麻豆原创 Utilities Core, a solution that is . A glance at 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud solutions for utilities shows development opportunities for partners in areas like enterprise asset management, digital supply chain, e-mobility, and a host of other areas. With industry cloud, we鈥檝e embraced the spirit of co-innovation, as evidenced by the close to 50 apps and solutions that are now part of the industry cloud for utilities portfolio, many of which were authored by 麻豆原创 partners. A from 麻豆原创 partner AppOrchid that enables people to query their data and get instant contextual answers is one of many examples from the partner-powered wave of innovation on the utilities side of industry cloud.

We鈥檙e actively encouraging partners to get involved in the co-innovation effort because with the new partner-friendly revenue models we鈥檝e incorporated into industry cloud, there鈥檚 a strong business case for them to do so.

Further strengthening that business case are all the resources 麻豆原创 is dedicating to support partners in the effort to identify and monetize their use cases for the utilities market. We鈥檙e making it easy for them to access resources and guidance at any point in their industry cloud journey, from onboarding through commercialization, closing deals and completing customer implementations.

To help speed the commercialization process for partners, we鈥檝e developed programs like , where we invite partners to submit use cases, then support chosen use cases with resources and guidance so they can quickly bring them to 麻豆原创 Store. We鈥檙e currently in the midst of our third utilities-focused round of SPRINT1, the previous two having yielded a variety of new apps from companies like AppOrchid, Utegration, EnergyOS, Infosys, and others.

After interviews, our panel chooses use cases based on their commercial merit. Those chosen partners then participate in a week-long bootcamp run by 麻豆原创 Co-Innovation Lab, where partners can receive technical advice and individual support. Next comes the 鈥渟print鈥 to the finish line, with regular check-ins, progress reviews, and additional support from 麻豆原创. The final step is onboarding to 麻豆原创 Store, again with expert guidance from 麻豆原创.

Unleash the Power of Business AI with 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform

New Workshop Format to Identify Generative AI Opportunities

When it comes to evaluating new use cases in the relatively new field of generative artificial intelligence, 麻豆原创 AppHaus launched a that is publicly available. It helps participants identify business challenges and opportunities that can be addressed using generative AI. With a set of predefined 鈥渙pportunity cards,鈥 participants can brainstorm various use case ideas, detail the most relevant ones, and then compare them to decide which ideas to pursue further.

Going Faster

An important measurement that customers and partners apply when implementing is the overall time-to-value to consume business outcomes. That is why the concept of use cases first evolved from marketing assets to more actionable artifacts, including code and configuration files that can provide guidance, developer insights, and predefined business content for reuse. The next evolution level will be around automating implementation steps.

Automation empowers developers and architects to focus on realizing business outcomes, not setting up infrastructure. In this context, 麻豆原创 plans to introduce the release of three actionable use cases with “one-click deployment鈥 that can reduce prerequisite setups by up to 50% at . One-click deployment steps are included in the use case project board in 麻豆原创 Discovery Center for rapid adoption by 麻豆原创 customers and partners.

The first focus of setup automation will be on creating 麻豆原创 BTP accounts, assigning service entitlements, and granting authorizations. In future, further automation around software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications and deployment of code and content will be targeted as well. Learn more in the .

A Promising Perspective

When talking about the future evolution of 麻豆原创 BTP use cases, Anja Schneider, senior vice president and chief operating officer for Technology & Innovation at 麻豆原创, sees a clear focus: 鈥淲ith the 麻豆原创 BTP use case initiative, we always followed the vision to create actionable use cases that help lead to concrete business outcomes. The next step is to achieve these outcomes much faster. We want to automate use cases so that users can deploy them easily to help accelerate time-to-value and save implementation efforts. In the end, we want to enable customers and partners alike to act faster and more swiftly on changing demands around them.鈥

鈥淚’m delighted to share that our exploration of  has provided us with invaluable insights into the future of application development using cutting-edge 麻豆原创 technologies. We’re committed to further exploring these innovative tools, specifically when it comes to streamlining processes and delivering rapid solutions to our business needs. One of the most compelling advantages I’ve experienced with low-code tools is the ability to create high-value, fully functional products in a remarkably short timeframe. Leveraging 麻豆原创鈥檚 Industry Cloud, Going from Concept to Commercialization Can Be Fast and Fulfilling /2023/07/cogniac-sap-syntax-industry-cloud/ Tue, 04 Jul 2023 12:15:45 +0000 /?p=205693 As recently as late 2020, Cogniac was a little-known Silicon Valley startup with promising artificial intelligence (AI)-driven computer vision (CV) technology and a big-time opportunity to find new markets for that technology via the program.

Fast forward two-and-half years to the spring of 2023, and not only has Cogniac found a strong market for its technology, it has earned a place among the vanguard of enterprise-class CV software, having been as a leader in the field alongside the likes of AWS, Google, and Microsoft.

How does a company ascend so far, so fast? In the case of San Jose, California-based Cogniac, it couldn鈥檛 have happened without superior technology, a partnership-driven mindset, and an openness to work with 麻豆原创 to develop an industry cloud solution that readily integrates with the 麻豆原创 portfolio to bring more value to customers.

Cogniac鈥檚 Visual Operations Intelligence platform is one of more than 300 apps and integrated end-to-end solutions developed within 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud and is available to customers across multiple industry verticals in . Cogniac鈥檚 technology also has been integrated into the solution, providing AI-enabled visual inspection capabilities for the shop floor to customers in a range of industries.

Cogniac is among a wave of up-and-coming companies that are blazing a trail for other independent developers to follow, showing how to leverage the expertise and resources of 麻豆原创 and system integrator partners to quickly scale up and monetize their intellectual property and technology. It鈥檚 all part of 麻豆原创鈥檚 鈥渙ne-portfolio鈥 approach, which is rooted in the belief that by working together, companies that are actively engaged in 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud 鈥 including independent developers, global and regional services partners, and others 鈥 can create solutions that generate more value for customers and themselves than they otherwise would working individually. The one-portfolio approach is first and foremost about solving customers鈥 business problems, whether the solution comes from an 麻豆原创 partner, 麻豆原创 itself, or a combination of the two.

In Cogniac鈥檚 case, the solution was born from the 麻豆原创.iO program and, following a , it鈥檚 now fully commercialized for customers in travel and transportation, automotive manufacturing, mill and mining, industrial manufacturing, and other verticals seeking to upgrade and automate their visual inspection capabilities for quality management and maintenance.

Here鈥檚 where the implementation expertise of another industry cloud partner, Montreal-based Syntax, enters the picture. As a system integrator, Syntax is playing a critical role in scaling and implementing Cogniac鈥檚 technology for customer use cases. It鈥檚 yet another example of how combining an independent developer鈥檚 domain expertise 鈥 for Cogniac, its computer vision driven by AI 鈥 with a system integrator鈥檚 expertise 鈥 Syntax is deeply experienced in customer implementations where IT and OT converge 鈥 and 麻豆原创鈥檚 end-to-end business process expertise, resources, reach, and positioning can result in a solution that fills an obvious customer need. Not only can creative industry cloud partnerships like these result in new revenue streams and market opportunities for developers and system integrators but they can bring solutions to market much faster than before.

Speaking of speed, the Cogniac-developed visual inspection capabilities within 麻豆原创 Digital Manufacturing can be implemented by Syntax at enterprise scale quickly, in a day or two, because they readily integrate with existing camera infrastructure and workflows. The low-code/no-code AI technology behind those capabilities represents a huge step forward in shop floor automation for a wide range of use cases, enabling high-speed inspection with greater accuracy at a lower cost. In this case, AI could also stand for augmented intelligence, for its ability to help customers make better decisions faster, as well as for automated intelligence, for its ability to free human beings from monotonous, repetitive inspection tasks.

Smart 麻豆原创 Shop Project: Extension of 麻豆原创 DM solution with Visual Inspection | Syntax

The industry cloud relationship between Cogniac, Syntax, and 麻豆原创 is a great illustration of the innovation mindset driving the one-portfolio approach, where instead of taking it upon ourselves to develop proprietary solutions in areas where we aren鈥檛 necessarily strongest, like computer vision, we combine forces with partners to come up with collaborative solutions that deliver more value to the folks who matter most: our customers. To support that approach, 麻豆原创 has updated its compensation models to make it easier and more attractive for partners to monetize their intellectual property and expertise on industry cloud.

When all this comes together, as it has with Cogniac and Syntax, the result is a win-win-win for customers, partners, and 麻豆原创.

Better Together: How 麻豆原创 Expands Its Cloud ERP Portfolio Through Partnering /2023/05/planon-sap-sapphire-expanded-cloud-erp-portfolio/ Tue, 16 May 2023 12:00:36 +0000 /?p=204639 Did you know that the buildings we live and work in are responsible for about ? In the same way that a thermostat is used to regulate the temperature of the room, cloud can be used to regulate an organization’s energy consumption by optimizing its business processes and operations.

Climate change and the energy crisis we are facing have exposed the need for greater transparency when it comes to understanding and managing our energy consumption. Compound that with economic uncertainties, remote work, inflationary spirals, global warming, and compliance issues and you have a shortlist of what businesses face today. Nearly every company must manage facilities, offices, shops, or other types of physical spaces, and the need to balance supply and demand along with investment and costs, as well as contractual obligations, is key.

But do we really understand how certain actions impact our carbon footprint?

This is where smart technologies take center stage in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. Professional real estate organizations are facing multidimensional challenges that need to be supported by data-driven processes and latest technologies. By unleashing the enormous potential of connected data, you enable and manage optimization strategies to future-proof building operations. 麻豆原创 BTP Use Cases Kick-Start Transformation with Pre-Built Business Content /2023/05/sap-btp-use-cases-art-of-the-possible/ Wed, 03 May 2023 12:15:52 +0000 /?p=204534 At 麻豆原创 TechEd in 2022, 麻豆原创 featured in more detail. Since then, many customers and partners have had their first experiences with existing use cases and missions. Brazilian food company Pif Paf Alimentos and Portuguese banking customer Novo Banco are two of them.

Some use cases have proven to provide guidance and help customers with their transformation journey to the cloud. Other existing use cases and missions could be further enhanced to become even more meaningful. 麻豆原创 listened to feedback and, where applicable, added more helpful business content to existing use cases and related 麻豆原创 Discovery Center missions. Building on best practices, this business content represents single business scenarios or events as plug-and-play code snippets within the whole use case with software for an existing business problem. In other cases, proven examples were added to the existing catalog of use cases. Some already feature the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) or 麻豆原创 Build Apps, and how they were integrated into a customer鈥檚 software landscape.

Customers and partners alike can use this detailed experience and shared knowledge for their own purposes. Companies and organizations can get inspired, learn from other solutions, or improve their existing architectures to become future-ready.

To set expectations, Juergen Mueller, chief technology officer and member of the Executive Board of 麻豆原创 SE, explains: 鈥淏usinesses that use 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform do not have to start with a blank canvas. Our and pre-built business and industry content help customers understand what is possible to keep their business innovative and future-ready. One thing to remember is that pre-built business content may not get you 100% of what you need but is likely to get you 80% or more to where you need to be. You can then add the remaining specific features and functionalities required for your business.鈥

So, these actionable use cases and related missions can to help meet certain requirements and solve specific situations in their enterprise. As Mueller puts it, 鈥淭hey were prepared for business experts, software developers, and architects to show the art of the possible.鈥

Here are two concrete examples of customers working with repeatable use cases:

Pif Paf Alimentos Builds Mobile App for Maintenance Technicians

In less than three weeks, Pif Paf Alimentos launched a mobile application for its maintenance technicians. The new mobile app significantly reduces the use of paper, improves the efficiency and accuracy of administrative tasks, and does not require an Internet connection. Pif Paf Alimentos, having worked with 麻豆原创 products like 麻豆原创 Integration Suite and 麻豆原创 ERP before, took advantage of听 to help resolve its technicians鈥 problems by building and deploying a working mobile app solution.

Why was the deployment process so fast? 麻豆原创 Build Apps allows users to build apps in a low-code manner by providing drag-and-drop user interfaces (UI) for common app components. This successful implementation is now reflected in the 麻豆原创 Discovery Center mission 鈥.鈥

From a Sustainability App for Banking to a Repeatable Use Case at Novo Banco S.A.

Novo Banco S.A. wanted to encourage and enable its approximately 1.5 million customers to be more climate conscious while strengthening their loyalty to the bank. It focused on a target group of customers between the ages of 18 and 30 because young people are well aware of the global climate situation but not necessarily of their own carbon footprint.

Together with 麻豆原创 and partner Connect Earth, the bank continued to build upon its SmartCO2nverter idea, a concept that had won 麻豆原创鈥檚 鈥淪ave One Billion Lives鈥 challenge in 2021. Since money movements and payments can give a good听indication of an individual鈥檚 carbon footprint, it aimed at improving the customers鈥 carbon literacy by analyzing and using the users鈥 bank account transactions and spending behaviors in a meaningful and transparent way. While this project brought about a solution design at the proof-of-concept stage, 麻豆原创 did not stop here and aimed at offering this solution approach on a broader scale.

Anirban Majumdar, vice president and head of 麻豆原创 T&I Platform Adoption & Advisory, describes the journey: 鈥淣othing gives us more joy than building 麻豆原创 BTP use cases that solve business challenges for our customers. One new use case we鈥檙e particularly excited about is a banking sustainability calculator app we鈥檝e built for Novo Banco, an innovative financial institution based out of Lisbon, Portugal, that is deeply (ESG). The mobile app itself is built using the reusable architecture principles of 麻豆原创 Cloud Application Programming Model and React Native on 麻豆原创 BTP. After the project, we extended the application architecture with a GPT scenario offered via the service. We are excited about the possibility of combining business context with the capabilities of large language models on 麻豆原创 BTP without actually disclosing any critical data to third-party APIs. We will open-source our code on GitHub in time for 麻豆原创 Sapphire in 2023, when you can check it out and let us know if you find the use case relevant for your business problem.鈥

Scaling via 麻豆原创 Ecosystem

The concept of building upon best practices and experiences made by others is not new to 麻豆原创 and its ecosystem. Repeatable use cases and solutions are built by 麻豆原创 and its ecosystem alike.

To give an example, 鈥, with its 20 partners globally, has developed more than 20 solutions that can be found in and offers more than five missions in ,鈥 confirms Andreas Hauser, SVP and head of 麻豆原创 AppHaus Network.

Seeing this level of enablement happening across the entire 麻豆原创 ecosystem equals standing on the shoulders of giants and getting an impressive idea of what is possible.

Intelligent Data Drives Growth Across Farm-to-Consume Food Value Chain /2023/04/intelligent-data-drives-growth-food-value-chain/ Mon, 24 Apr 2023 11:15:29 +0000 /?p=204229 While soil, water, and sun are the time-honored elements in growing fresh fruits and vegetables, produce companies worldwide are adding intelligent data to the recipe for the highest yields that ultimately satisfy hungry consumers. Mapping supply 鈥 meaning crops grown and harvested 鈥 to demand is no easy task. Whether they own the farming land or work with a network of independent growers, fresh produce companies are up against increasingly extreme weather, supply chain volatility, and an uncertain business environment.

鈥淔resh produce organizations and their partners are rapidly moving from experience-based to data-driven farming,鈥 said Anja Strothkaemper, global vice president of Agribusiness and Commodity Management at 麻豆原创. 鈥 for agribusiness are designed to help fresh produce companies use data from the fields, grower contracts, and finance to make better decisions for managing the food value chain end-to-end to achieve optimal yields and higher revenue.鈥

IN FOCUS with Sven Denecken on 麻豆原创 Industries as a Key Competitive Differentiator

Farming Innovations Start in the Field

Watching the plants just won鈥檛 cut it in a world beset by storms, droughts, and other unexpected challenges. Farmers are investing in technology to capture and act on data in the fields. For example, they can make cost-effective and yield-boosting irrigation improvements based on soil conditions and local weather forecasts. This also helps save water, which is becoming a scarce resource in many parts of the world.

In many cases, fresh produce companies working with independent growers provide farming advisory services to their growers based on historical and current field data, as well as crop and variety-specific data science models. Using , they can replace manual spreadsheets with cloud-based, centralized field data. They can also offer digital services on a mobile platform to farmers, providing 24/7 advice for each field. The idea is to automatically capture and analyze data that helps growers make better decisions throughout the farming cycle, from planting to harvest. For fresh produce companies that have contracts with many farmers, relevant data is a way to build trusted relationships and control the quality of their supply.

Sustainability to Weather Any Market Storm

As sustainability becomes a business imperative, agribusiness is responding with climate-friendly crop protection and care. Farmers want to minimize environmentally harmful pesticides and fertilizers, and conserve valuable natural resources like water. Data that supports intelligent irrigation planning can help reduce the use of water even in the face of droughts. Real-time soil analyses can help farmers use less fertilizer and pesticides, saving costs while reducing crop loss risk.

Connected data also supports innovation and agility, providing fresh produce researchers with updated information as they explore new varieties resistant to evolving weather conditions. They can track yields against regional demand, adjusting planting strategies as market tastes shift and producing higher-revenue varieties at the right time.

Deep Partnerships Extend Food Value Chain Innovation

The food value chain is wide and deep, making partner collaboration another essential ingredient for fresh product companies.

鈥溌槎乖粹檚 strategy is to provide customers with a cloud-based platform that allows them to build intelligence by collaborating with partners for optimized end-to-end processes,鈥 said Strothkaemper. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 why we鈥檙e partnering to extend co-innovation using , offering tools and technology to partners so they can extend 麻豆原创 solutions and build complementary industry cloud applications.鈥

Numerous agritech startups are working with 麻豆原创 to explore untapped opportunities and develop solutions for sustainable agriculture. One example is , a participant in 麻豆原创.iO Foundry Paris, that developed a to automate quality control based on the size and color of fresh fruits and vegetables in real time. Clarifruit鈥檚 latest innovation, recently announced in beta version, expands the platform鈥檚 capabilities to automate the identification of defects.

鈥淎utomating quality control with real-time data provides inspectors along the food value chain with objective and consistent information, allowing sellers to get the price they expect and buyers the quality their customers demand,鈥 said Elad Mardix, CEO at Clarifruit. 鈥淲ith early visibility into the quality of fresh produce, growers, wholesalers, and retailers along the supply chain can reduce quality mismatch and rejections, helping decrease waste and increase profits.鈥

Data Intelligence Cuts Through Complex Food Value Chain

It鈥檚 impossible to talk about the farm-to-consume value chain without mentioning . Storing and transporting perishable foods like fruits and vegetables requires integrated data across warehouses and vast transportation networks. Looking to the future, Strothkaemper envisioned fully connected data from fields through planning, planting, and harvest to supply chain transport and delivery.

鈥淚magine if fresh produce companies could digitally link what鈥檚 happening in the farming fields with to better meet retailer demands,鈥 said Strothkaemper. 鈥淵ou may have enough apples to meet orders in the system, but do you have the transportation capacity to pick them up and can the store and pack them? Our vision is to help fresh produce companies connect the farm-to-consume data silos between growers, fresh produce companies, and transportation service providers. With connected, intelligent data, companies gain more control in an unpredictable environment.鈥

麻豆原创 Partners Drive a Wave of Industry Cloud Innovation in Discrete Manufacturing /2023/04/sap-partners-industry-cloud-innovation-discrete-manufacturing/ Tue, 11 Apr 2023 11:15:22 +0000 /?p=204019 When 麻豆原创鈥榮 industry cloud journey began back in 2020, our vision was simple. We wanted to deliver more value to our customers and to our partners. And that meant reimagining our solution strategy to focus more on open-platform co-innovation with partners and less monolithic, more modular solutions for customers.

Now, close to three years later, this fundamental shift in approach, underpinned by new, attractive commercial models, is yielding better business outcomes and a solid value proposition for customers and partners alike. According to a from Forrester, an organization that implements industry cloud solutions projects to realize a US$2.6 million net present value and an ROI of 283% over three years. The benefits come mostly in the form of revenue enhancement and assurance, increased employee productivity, and ongoing lower operating costs.

Our goal is to have 80% of the solutions developed through industry cloud come from partners. Each new solution that reaches , each piece of intellectual property that a partner turns into a service that fills a customer need 鈥 and creates a new revenue stream for that partner 鈥 and each customer implementation that applies industry cloud solutions brings us closer to fulfilling our vision.

Nowhere is the progress in 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud 鈥 and the business opportunity for partners 鈥 more evident than in the discrete manufacturing industries, including automotive and mobility, high-tech, industrial manufacturing, and aerospace and defense. Fueled by fascinating use cases, new tech wrinkles, and creative, sometimes surprising partnerships, industry cloud activity in these industries is increasing rapidly. Here鈥檚 a look at some of the developments and the opportunities they鈥檙e generating for partners on the build (independent software developer), sell (reseller and channel partner), and service (system integration and implementation) sides of the ecosystem.

Integrating and Monetizing a Solution That Fortifies 麻豆原创鈥檚 Portfolio

麻豆原创 knew industrial customers could really benefit from augmented reality technology to help frontline workers remotely execute tasks. Rather than trying to fill that void ourselves, we worked with a market leader in this space, TeamViewer, to integrate its AR-based workflow platform Frontline with 麻豆原创 Field Service Management, 麻豆原创 Service and Asset Manager, 麻豆原创 Extended Warehouse Management, and 麻豆原创 Digital Manufacturing, knowing this would likely lead to a quality solution offering faster. This collaboration is creating听attractive commercial opportunities and customer pipeline for TeamViewer and 麻豆原创. More than ever, 麻豆原创 is handing opportunities like this over to industry cloud partners.

Developing and Monetizing New Solutions Faster, to Stay a Step Ahead of Customer Needs

鈥淚nnovating ahead of customer needs鈥 is part of Capgemini鈥檚 DNA, which is why, according to Josean Mendez, a Capgemini vice president and the firm鈥檚 global partner and ecosystem lead, the company has as an accelerator for solutions it develops for customers in automotive, discrete manufacturing, and other industries. Among them is an , CSI4Auto. Capgemini developed this industry cloud solution in close collaboration with customer Brose Fahrzeugteile SE & Co. KG. It鈥檚 a self-service supplier portal for interaction between suppliers that makes collaboration faster and more effective.

Leveraging 麻豆原创 Resources to Develop and Commercialize Valuable Intellectual Property

Sprint1 is a program in which 麻豆原创 invites partners to submit ideas for developing a new industry cloud solution, then provides resources to help selected partners develop those ideas and bring them to market. With support from 麻豆原创, BearingPoint developed and brought to 麻豆原创 Store an end-to-end . Have a use case you鈥檇 like 麻豆原创鈥檚 help in developing and commercializing? Check out these that are currently open to partners.

Diversifying the Business by Adapting IP Developed for One Industry to an Entirely New Industry, Market, and Customer Base

Amperfied, a subsidiary of industrial-scale printer manufacturer Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, leveraged its parent company鈥檚 intellectual property to create a new solution for electric vehicle fleets by bundling the 麻豆原创 E-Mobility solution with its own charging technology. The result is a solution that reduces costs for e-fleet customers.

Almost every day, it seems, I hear of another promising use case, partnership, customer implementation, or channel partner deal in the industry cloud pipeline. For partners with a cloud mindset, the opportunities in 麻豆原创’s industry cloud ecosystem are indeed real 鈥 and ready to bear fruit.

If you鈥檙e interested in being part of the industry cloud journey in the discrete manufacturing industries, find me and the team at in person April 17鈥21, 2023, in Hannover, Germany.

Consumer Industries Witness Surge of Innovation, Thanks to 麻豆原创鈥檚 Industry Cloud Partners /2023/02/consumer-industries-innovation-sap-industry-cloud-partners/ Wed, 22 Feb 2023 12:15:12 +0000 /?p=202859 As someone who鈥檚 been on the front lines working in 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud ecosystem space since its inception in 2020, I鈥檝e learned to expect the unexpected.

One day might bring news of collaboration between companies that historically have been fierce rivals, or a customer implementation of modest scope that grows into a much larger and more lucrative project. Another day could bring reports of a new app or solution that uses an exciting tech wrinkle to fill a need for multiple customers. And another could bring news of an 麻豆原创 partner breaking into a new market or vertical by developing a solution with applicability across multiple industries, then monetizing it on .

A solution developed by 麻豆原创 partner DataXstream highlights the possibilities that 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud offers to partners that serve consumer industries. The solution, , helps streamline order management. The results it鈥檚 producing for customers are impressive: higher margins, lower inventory and training costs, and an improved understanding among wholesalers and retailers of their customers. Using the solution, one customer not only realized ROI within seven days, it saw a 1.5% increase in margin on sales and a 50% reduction in inventory carrying cost during the first year following implementation. That鈥檚 US$7 million added to the bottom line and $50 million in reduced inventory carrying cost.

Stories like this are among many developments I鈥檝e been following in 麻豆原创鈥檚 partnership-driven, collaborate-to-innovate industry cloud ecosystem, which includes consumer-focused verticals like consumer products, retail, life sciences, healthcare, wholesale distribution, agribusiness, and fashion, along with more than a dozen other verticals. Here are some recent highlights from the consumer industries segment of the ecosystem:

  • Apps developed exclusively by partners, with little to no involvement from 麻豆原创 other than to provide the business technology platform (麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform) and a marketplace (麻豆原创 Store) in which to sell them.
  • Apps built not by a developer but by a large customer鈥檚 internal development team, leveraging 麻豆原创 BTP. One major global consumer products company recently did exactly that, using their 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform investment to develop an analytics solution that it is now deployed within a broader 麻豆原创 digital infrastructure.
  • System integrators 鈥渂ottling鈥 the key elements of a solution they developed for a specific consumer products company to offer it to other companies with a similar need.
  • New 麻豆原创 and partner commercialization models coming to life, enabling partners to quickly benefit from new 鈥 and in many cases, substantial 鈥 revenue streams created by the solutions they have developed.
  • 麻豆原创 handing over a development opportunity on the wholesale distribution side to an industry cloud partner instead of taking the work on ourselves, recognizing the partner was best equipped to develop the solution.
  • Developers with expertise in technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), video graphics, and robotics bringing solutions powered by those capabilities to customers in consumer industries that provide the foundation for business transformation.

What鈥檚 particularly gratifying for me is that little to none of this likely would have happened even five years ago. Built on the premise that, by working together, 麻豆原创 and members of the industry cloud community can create more value for customers and themselves than they otherwise would working separately, the program thus far has produced hundreds of potentially high-impact apps and integrated, end-to-end solutions.

麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud represents an important evolution of 麻豆原创鈥檚 approach to partnership and serving the end customer, where the focus is on solving the customer鈥檚 business problem whether the solution comes exclusively from an 麻豆原创 partner, from 麻豆原创 itself, or a combination of the two, and where partners have a greater opportunity to monetize the solutions they have a role in developing. Ultimately, we鈥檙e building a vibrant community that, through co-innovation, creates open, ready-to-integrate, and ready-to-implement solutions to meet critical needs in customers鈥 business application landscapes.

The hundreds of consumer-focused solutions already produced via 麻豆原创鈥檚 industry cloud are just the tip of the iceberg. The door is also wide open for existing partners that serve consumer industries to become more engaged in the ecosystem and for new partners to become part of it. If they share 麻豆原创鈥檚 appetite for co-innovation, if they鈥檙e driven like we are to support customers in their business transformation efforts, and if they鈥檙e open to finding new partners, customers, markets, and revenue streams, our industry cloud community will welcome them with open arms.

A Revolution in Product Discovery with Zoovu Apps on 麻豆原创 Store /2022/12/revolution-in-product-discovery-zoovu-sap-store/ Thu, 22 Dec 2022 14:15:47 +0000 /?p=201733 I guessed I might be in for some fun when I arranged an interview to learn more about Zoovu鈥檚 discovery platform, supercharging , just because of the inventive company name.

But the fun of my conversation with Lamees Butt, SVP Global Alliances & Channels at Zoovu, was more about the sheer inventiveness of the offering itself than the name. You know how everybody loves to tell you about their 鈥渞evolutionary鈥 new products? Well, Butt quickly convinced me that the Zoovu app, one of the hottest sellers on 麻豆原创 Store, really is. As for the name 鈥 I鈥檒l get to that later.

Transforming Discovery

Product discovery: that鈥檚 what Zoovu is revolutionizing. While online search does keep improving, the truth is that you still have to know what you鈥檙e looking for. Zoovu 鈥渉umanizes鈥 product discovery, Butt told me, making products easier to find, evaluate, and buy by bringing context to your search.

鈥淢ost e-commerce sites are not much more than indexes or digital catalogs,鈥 she commented, 鈥渘ot well organized or structured. Say you need a new laptop and go online to do some research. Where do you start? You鈥檒l probably be asked to specify, for instance, how much RAM you need, how much CPU. What does that mean?鈥 She added a shocking statistic: 80% of organizations believe they are offering a good user experience. Only 8% of buyers agree.

Imagine instead being guided through the process with relevant questions and interactive buying advice. With Zoovu integrated into your commerce experience, Butt explained, you are asked the questions the knowledgeable sales assistant would pose in-store. For example, what do you typically do with your laptop? Say you run a lot of spreadsheets, meet colleagues virtually online, travel on business, design flyers for community events, and construct crossword puzzles. Voil脿! With five questions, the digital assistant translates your needs and recommends you a laptop. Essentially, it uses artificial intelligence (AI) and semantics to personalize your search.

That鈥檚 a simple example for a B2C use case. Now imagine a complex purchase for a B2B buyer 鈥 a hospital upgrading X-ray equipment, for example, or a contractor building aircraft components. 鈥淚t鈥檚 so easy to make a mistake in specifications or choose the wrong product,鈥 Butt said, 鈥渁nd there typically are no tools on commerce for cross-checking product compliance. With our solution, by connecting the back-office product content and exposing it to the front-office commerce experience, there is zero error.鈥

Converting Prospects

Since 麻豆原创 Store is such a valuable resource for 麻豆原创 account executives, who can learn about and recommend partner offerings, I broached concern about the app eliminating sales people鈥檚 jobs. The Zoovu platform enriches product content automatically with industry-specific taxonomies and work across all industries. 鈥淭he qualifying questions,鈥 Butt remarked, 鈥渁re gold dust for companies that are building complex mechanics for their customers.鈥 Because of that tight integration, the apps scale across channels and regions and can easily be embedded at distribution partners via web, chat, and in-store kiosks.

I was intrigued about Butt鈥檚 role, since she is such an enthusiastic evangelist. She鈥檚 been a member of the Zoovu team as one of the first employees, coming in with a background in the digital transformation space. She noted that the company expanded quickly after it was established in 2017 by several young computer scientists, who surrounded themselves with smart people from diverse fields with different skill sets. Her responsibility is to help the company scale through partnerships, and 麻豆原创 is an ideal match, she observed, because of the product-customer fit. Let me add that she is 100% correct in that respect. The Zoovu apps set a record on 麻豆原创 Store with the speed of uptake from our customers.

It seems that an intern came up with 鈥淶oovu鈥 in the process of building a product subset, and it caught on. That intern, Butt added, is now part of the Zoovu leadership team.

Is your organization ready for a revolution in product discovery? Why not find out how on ?

Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Fight Fake Drugs with Intelligent Supply Chains /2022/12/pharmaceutical-manufacturers-drug-supply-chains/ Thu, 01 Dec 2022 12:15:21 +0000 /?p=200993 As the pandemic rages on and challenges like and disruptions continue, digital intelligence is the one thing that industry leaders can count on for competitive advantage. predicted that by 2023, 75% of life sciences manufacturers will invest in intelligent supply chain solutions to enable resilience and prevent future disruptions during health emergencies such as COVID-19.

Increasing regulations are also sparking digital innovation across life sciences. For example, organizations are required to share updated supply chain data with trusted partners for compliance with the final phased-in regulations of the . Initially passed in 2013, the latest batch of requirements from this act will require pharmacies, wholesalers, and manufacturers to track and report drug shipments for legitimacy between authorized trading partners. That鈥檚 where Spherity Credentialing Service CARO comes in, an app that provides updated information proving a dispenser鈥檚 trading partner status.

鈥淲hen a pharmacist in a tiny dispensary in North Dakota has suspicions about a received drug shipment, they send a verification request to a global pharmaceutical manufacturer that has numerous wholesalers in between them and the pharmacy,鈥 said Dr. Oliver Nuernberg, chief product owner of Life Sciences at 麻豆原创. 鈥淎utomating the credentialing process builds transparency and trust between indirect partners, immediately surfacing the pharmacy鈥檚 credentials as an authorized trading partner. This saves time and costs with greater information accuracy and fewer delays, strengthening an organization鈥檚 ability to meet DSCSA regulations.鈥

Available on , Spherity Credentialing Service CARO is integrated with听, a cloud-based network solution that helps organizations comply with other provisions of the U.S.听DSCSA. For example, drug traceability is another U.S. DSCSA mandate. Pharmaceutical manufacturers can also use the information hub to help law enforcement trace drug shipments by serial numbers, supporting audits that help keep counterfeit medications out of the supply chain.

Intelligent Automation Strengthens Health of Drug Supply Chain

Spherity functions as a digitally encrypted wallet that captures and stores a dispenser鈥檚, or any other trading partner鈥檚, verified identity data, including address, notarized documents such as articles of incorporation, as well as updated U.S. state and DEA license information. By digitizing previously manual data collection and distribution tasks between systems, the app eliminates historical time lags that often resulted in outdated information.

鈥淚n the past, information about trading partner status was manually imported on a monthly basis from spreadsheets provided by third parties. An order might come from a wholesaler or dispenser whose license expired or was revoked weeks or even months ago,鈥 said Nuernberg. 鈥淓lectronic credentialing surfaces accurate information much faster, helping organizations automatically prove compliance with regulations, including license type as required to dispense various drugs.鈥

Once a pharmacy鈥檚 identity is verified in their digital wallet, pharmaceutical companies would also be informed on an ongoing basis if the state or federal agency didn鈥檛 renew that license or revoked it for any reason.

Verified Partner Identity for Supply Chain Safety

Verifying a dispenser鈥檚 identity isn鈥檛 as easy as it sounds. Drug supply chains are complex, involving manufacturers, wholesale distributors, re-packagers, and logistics companies long before the goods reach pharmacies for dispensing. Having an app that automatically verifies a dispenser鈥檚 identity in real or near real time is designed to support regulatory compliance and help make drug supply chains more secure. Anticipating the 2023 regulations, some global pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers have been testing the app with measurable results.

鈥淯sing the app, organizations have told us that they can securely and more easily verify trading partners and generate audit-ready records,鈥 said Georg J眉rgens, manager of Industry Solutions at Spherity. 鈥淲ith electronic interactions, they can trust that a trading partner is legitimate because due diligence has been conducted that proves identity. The app is easy to get up and running and has already increased efficiencies.鈥

J眉rgens added that the app鈥檚 interoperability with different systems is designed to help meet regulatory mandates around electronic data sharing, easing collaboration between trusted partners along the clinical supply chain.

Digitalized Business Innovation

Eliminating counterfeit drugs in the legitimate supply chain is just the beginning of what鈥檚 possible in a fully digitalized life sciences supply chain. Pharmaceutical companies will be able to bring in and ramp up new, trusted suppliers faster. Intelligence will only grow with greater automation for business and patient value.

Buying and Selling Renewable Energy Enables Communities across Europe to Become More Independent and Sustainable /2022/09/exnaton-buying-and-selling-renewable-energy/ Fri, 30 Sep 2022 12:15:03 +0000 /?p=199614 Going to market is an age-old activity when it comes to buying and selling goods 鈥 from cash crops to cattle, everything under the sun has been traded in some form or another. Now, you can even take your surplus solar energy to the market, thanks to an innovative solution developed by a team of young Swiss entrepreneurs.

鈥淭here is no life on earth without the sun, and it鈥檚 there for everyone,鈥 said Anselma W枚rner, COO and one of the three cofounders of Exnaton, a Swiss company that develops software for communities trading renewable energy in local neighborhoods.

W枚rner was explaining how her company created a smart energy system at the recent听听in Munich, Germany. 鈥淲e have a new generation of prosumers 鈥 people who consume and produce their own energy 鈥 who are using new connected technologies and renewable power like solar to exchange energy through the grid.鈥

Sun Powered

Humans have always depended on the sun for light, heat, and food, and its all-encompassing power has influenced cultures and religions around the world. Although advances in technology have decreased our dependence, the importance of solar energy in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint is a reminder that we still depend on it for survival. That鈥檚 why the cofounders picked the name 听for their enterprise. Looking for a word that connects 鈥渆nergy鈥 and 鈥渆xchange,鈥 they hit upon the Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten (pronounced Echnaton) who raised the status of the sun above that of all other gods and created an early monotheism that briefly became a state religion.

The goal of Exnaton is to help integrate prosumers into the grid. Currently, the legal framework is very complex, and there is no clear ROI for them. There are no feed-in tariffs or policy mechanisms designed to accelerate investment in renewable energy technologies by offering long-term contracts to renewable energy producers.

鈥淎t the moment, there is no value for the community, and we want to change that,鈥 said W枚rner, who is responsible for fundraising, data science, and recruiting at Exnaton. 鈥淲hat most people don鈥檛 realize is that renewable energy is not always produced when it鈥檚 needed most. So, when it is available, prosumers should be able to sell their energy directly.鈥

People who own solar panels could actually sell a lot of energy to other households, if only they had the means. W枚rner and her team believe it should be as easy to sell to other consumers as it is to sell any other products on the market. 鈥淧rosumers are faced with fragmented solutions, complex regulations, and frustrating user experiences. What they need are simple solutions, trusted local providers, and proactive community and user groups,鈥 she explained.

Community Centric

Enter Exnaton鈥檚 EnergyCommunity software add-on for听 solutions, which won an听听in the Partner Paragon category together with Best Practice Consulting (BPC) and is now available on 麻豆原创 Store. This user-centric extension enables utility companies to empower prosumers to buy and sell energy within their local communities and also track all relevant data.

Here鈥檚 how it works. Any prosumers in the community can sell their solar energy to any consumers in the grid. The EnergyCommunity tracks their energy data and informs them exactly where the energy is coming from and how much CO2 it is generating. The utility company can easily bill these energy exchanges with their regular 麻豆原创 billing system thanks to the integration offered by Exnaton in working with the 麻豆原创 system integrator BPC. At the same time, the utility company can sell additional hardware installations to members of the community, making it an attractive option for all parties.

鈥淭he EnergyCommunity makes it easy to exchange energy within the community. Participating in their local community creates a closer bond between people, and the platform provides a new customer channel for the utility company,鈥 saidthe technology expert, who has a PhD in Information Systems. 鈥淎t the end of the day, with Exnaton鈥檚 energy sharing software-as-a-service platform, energy suppliers can offer their customers more independence.鈥

Exnaton is responding to the challenge faced by prosumers who currently have no possibility to sell their extra energy directly on the market and the one faced by utilities companies as they realize they must offer new models as they transition to renewables with a decentralized approach. A number of utility companies are already running the solution in communities across Germany, Austria, Luxemburg, and Switzerland, and the goal is to expand to other European countries where there is a strong regulatory framework. More importantly, the solution enables energy companies to equip their customers for a sustainable future.

Future Focused

Over 733 million people on the planet still don鈥檛 have access to affordable, sustainable energy, which is why providing energy is goal seven on the list of the听. For Exnaton, goal seven is its core business, but at the same time, it is equally committed to goal 11, developing sustainable cities and communities; goal 12, enabling responsible production and consumption; and goal 13, taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.

The good news, according to the recent听听report, is that renewables overtook fossil fuels as the number one power source in the European Union for the first time in 2020. Renewables generate 38% of electricity, compared to 37% for fossil fuels. Also, at least two million people in the EU are already involved in more than 7,700 energy communities, and engagement is rising. Energy communities have also contributed up to 7% of nationally installed capacities of renewables, estimated at 6.3 GW.

For W枚rner and the team at Exnaton, producing energy where it is consumed decreases the dependence of the region on imported resources. Energy from the sun is practically limitless, and it more than covers the entire demand of the planet. With advances in technology and solutions like the EnergyCommunity, households and small businesses benefit from electricity powered by the sun, making renewable energy accessible and cost effective. What could be more natural, sensible, or sustainable?

A DIY Solution for Building Complex Digital Forms on 麻豆原创 Store /2022/09/mirata-diy-solution-complex-digital-forms-sap-store/ Tue, 06 Sep 2022 11:15:01 +0000 /?p=199145 Some people just seem to have a knack for coming up with brilliant ideas. Because I deeply admire that kind of creativity, I was glad to spend time talking with Rich Padula, CEO of Mirata Software, who has the Midas touch 鈥 and not just for inventing software.

His latest brainchild is which is currently flying off the virtual shelves of 麻豆原创 Store. Mirata Digital Forms lets business users build their own forms to meet their workflow needs using everyday desktop skills, while allowing IT to manage data governance 鈥 a true win-win enterprise-grade solution. It鈥檚 a product that reflects Padula鈥檚 overall ethos of helping people help themselves, a theme that鈥檚 played throughout his life. Here鈥檚 the story.

Problem-Solving as a Serial Entrepreneur

Back in 1995, Padula founded his first company, Syclo LLC, an early entrant in mobile technology that was about to explode. 麻豆原创 acquired Syclo in 2012, and after a few years with 麻豆原创, Padula decided to retire. Before long, though, he was back at it, 鈥減laying around with machine learning and the Internet of Things.鈥

One of the first applications he developed was an affordable mobile app platform for smaller museums that lets visitors curate their own tours 鈥 making a cool tool that most major museums offer attainable. He also taught entrepreneurial skills to students at Northwestern University in Chicago and did some angel investing. He even tried his hand building computer-vision training models to look for design flaws in construction projects like wind turbines and bridges.

All this relieved the boredom of retiring too young. But working in these new technologies led him to the discovery of a big new challenge.

鈥淚 was talking with a few colleagues from my Syclo days and realized that, despite all the efficiency gains, their companies were still using paper forms,鈥 he told me. 鈥淭hey鈥檇 say, ‘All we do is paperwork.’ This was a particularly acute issue in highly regulated industries like construction that typically have complex workflows. Sure, there were a few forms solutions out there, but they were nice until they weren鈥檛 — because they weren鈥檛 built for the large enterprise.鈥

Inventing Another New Solution

With a new problem to tackle, Padula sat down with his brother Rob, his partner and CTO at Syclo, to create a declarative form definition language aiming to empower nontechnical people to create their own forms. They analyzed more than 150 forms from 40 different companies, tested the logic, and set up focus groups. By 2020, they were ready to launch Mirata Digital Forms, which drew upon all their experience with Syclo, 麻豆原创, and in regulated industries.

The solution lets business users define the optimal workflow, then align the digital forms with that workflow. It鈥檚 built on 麻豆原创 Business Technology Platform () and embedded in the 麻豆原创 Service and Asset Manager mobile app to retrieve relevant data. Forms are created just once, then used across all Mirata Software workflow applications — a single enterprise platform for all forms creation. Corporate IT teams manage the interfaces and overall governance, but they are relieved of development, implementation, and maintenance, supporting huge cost savings.

Three years later, Mirata Software has offices in downtown Chicago, a partnership with 麻豆原创, a product that is successfully selling on 麻豆原创 Store, and a patent for the declarative form definition language.

鈥淚t helps a great deal that many of Mirata鈥檚 employees are some of the most talented colleagues from Syclo days,鈥 Padula said, 鈥渁ll with deep experience in mobile app development and 麻豆原创 integrations.鈥

Creating Opportunities for Students

Meanwhile, Padula is pursuing another longtime passion: giving back to his community. When raising a family and living in the suburbs, he had established an internship program for community college students that helps them learn in a business setting and pay for school. Now with his business and residence in Chicago, he鈥檚 recreating that model with city community colleges in economically challenged neighborhoods.

鈥淲e are hiring students at three levels in six-, 12-, and 18-month internships,鈥 he explained. 鈥淭hey begin with training in building forms and then can move up to become business analysts, talking to customers and configuring interfaces into the 麻豆原创 software. And our customers benefit from great hourly rates.鈥

Another win-win. The program will launch in 2023.

Back at 麻豆原创 Store, Padula and his team are working on go-to-market initiatives with 麻豆原创 and several implementation partners, who find it to be a great solution.

Why not see for yourself and maybe try your own hand at building forms with ?

Shippeo’s Supply Chain Visibility Solution Moving Fast on 麻豆原创 Store /2022/08/shippeo-supply-chain-visibility-sap-store/ Tue, 23 Aug 2022 11:15:33 +0000 /?p=198773 Whether you鈥檝e been waiting endlessly for a part to repair your car or stocking up on extra sriracha, you are likely aware of the supply chain problems plaguing everyone the world over.

And if your business is involved in buying or selling products, you鈥檒l be glad to learn about Shippeo’s , a fantastic offering on 麻豆原创 Store.

Speeding Up Digitalization in B2B Transportation Management

To get on board, I spoke with Lucien Besse, COO of Shippeo, which he co-founded with a group of ex-colleagues and friends in 2015. At the time, he and CEO Pierre Khoury were colleagues at a private equity firm where Besse led the restructuring of companies in the transportation industry. They recognized that the enormous complexity of transportation networks made it extremely difficult for shippers and receivers of goods to get real-time information about shipments in transit. And while digitalization was well underway in the business-to-consumer market, where consumer expectations for real-time shipping info are high, the business-to-business market lagged far behind.

鈥淭here are so many different parties and stakeholders involved 鈥 thousands of shippers, independent carriers, freight forwarders, logistics service providers, and intermediaries in between,鈥 he told me. 鈥淚n Europe, there are more than 600,000 trucking companies alone. A crucial shipment might be sitting in a warehouse waiting for a truck to pick it up, but the status was like a black box.鈥

With a solid business plan and a clear path to developing a solution, Shippeo attracted investors and launched its first product, a mobile app for truck drivers, before evolving into a multimodal visibility platform.

Looking Down the Road

The vision was much broader: to build a platform aggregating data from all those transportation players, all using different systems, to provide access to the same information for real-time visibility. Toward that end, one of Shippeo鈥檚 first steps was to approach 麻豆原创.

鈥淲e wanted to get as close as possible to 麻豆原创,鈥 Besse said. 鈥淚t was critical for us to have 麻豆原创 as a partner, simply because 麻豆原创 is so big in the transportation space.鈥

麻豆原创 invited Shippeo to join the 麻豆原创.iO Foundry program in Paris, which provided the opportunity not only to incubate the product, but to align the companies鈥 visions for solutions in the supply chain landscape.

Shippeo is now a global leader and a European specialist in real-time transportation visibility, tracking more than 28 million shipments in 75 countries, and integrating with more than 900 types of data connections. With API integration to and global track-and-trace functionality, the Shippeo platform enables trading partners to collaborate. Users gain a global view of their supply chain and access to carrier information 鈥 including road, ocean, rail, and air.

鈥淚t enables them to connect planning information with the status on the ground and compare theory to reality,鈥 Besse explained. The platform is deeply integrated in transportation management systems and uses GPS technology and a proprietary algorithm for accuracy in estimated time of arrival. That鈥檚 how customers can use the Shippeo solution predictively to anticipate issues and take action.

鈥淔or example,鈥 he continued, 鈥渁 production line might be completely disrupted by a one- or two-hour delay. With an alert ahead of time, plans can be adjusted to reduce or eliminate the downtime.鈥 It also helps customers reduce their carbon footprint with key information for route planning, which is at the top of the CEO agenda and a key element of Shippeo鈥檚 future vision.

For that reason and many others, the timing couldn鈥檛 be more perfect. The UK departure from trade agreements with the EU held up countless shipments at customs, with truckers fuming and shippers and receivers desperate for information. Remember the container ship stuck in the Suez Canal? I could go on, but the Shippeo plaform helps alleviate some of these problems.

Driving a Strong Collaboration with 麻豆原创

It is not surprising that Shippeo鈥檚 Predictive and Real-Time Visibility Platform is doing very well on 麻豆原创 Store, as it recently earned the coveted and is in the top five percent by performance. That fact is also explained by the philosophy of Besse and his partners, who are longtime friends themselves.

鈥淭o be a good partner, you have to reciprocate,鈥 he remarked. 鈥淲e make sure to build relationships with all the 麻豆原创 reps when we enter a new market, and to inform them about mutual opportunities.鈥

Sounds like a road map for success. Why not take a trip yourself to ?

Coveo Search and Recommendation Quickly Finds Relevance on 麻豆原创 Store /2022/08/coveo-search-and-recommendation-sap-store/ Mon, 01 Aug 2022 12:15:13 +0000 /?p=198278 Today, a mere two years on from 2020, it seems hard to remember when the vast majority of retail purchases were made in person by shopping in a store. Laurent Simoneau, CTO and co-founder of Coveo Solutions, recalls that time quite well 鈥 and then, the moment when retailers the world over were suddenly forced to close their physical outlets and move 100% to e-commerce.

Fortunately for all concerned, Coveo was available to help them with an intelligent search and recommendations solution powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Since then, Coveo has experienced dramatic growth for its e-commerce products, leading to a decision in early 2021 to invest in the 麻豆原创 ecosystem. has quickly become one of the hottest sellers on 麻豆原创 Store.

The idea is to help online buyers easily and quickly find what they鈥檙e looking for, as well as what they might be looking for 鈥 and might purchase if given a personalized recommendation. When shoppers can discover more options in an online product catalog thanks to automated suggestions based on their intent, guess what? They buy more. The Coveo app also engages shoppers with a unified search experience that spans helpful content such as expert blogs and videos. The key is real-time personalization: relevance.

But the Coveo story starts years ago in 2005, when Simoneau and two close colleagues spotted an opportunity: to improve online search. Working together at another company with an advertising-based model, they shifted gears, launching Coveo and quickly finding a niche. 鈥淲e evolved into a classic on-premise search business in enterprise software,鈥 Simoneau told me.

A Well-Timed Move to the Cloud

By 2011, however, another opportunity had appeared. 鈥淚n retrospect,鈥 he observed, 鈥渙ur move to the cloud was perfectly timed. The market was not well defined, and many companies preferred the comfort of on-premises platforms. We recognized that the cloud would enable the capture of massive amounts of data that could be used in countless ways.鈥

Within a few years, Coveo had harnessed AI and applied it to search, branching into customer and employee service and support. These are important lines of business for Coveo, using the same technology to help users find what they need and giving Coveo a broad customer base.

Growth is now also happening in e-commerce, though, thanks in large part to the ability of the Coveo solution to help companies scale rapidly. I asked Simoneau what life was like in 2020, expecting him to say utter chaos. Instead, 鈥淚t was pretty flawless,鈥 he replied. 鈥淭he platform is designed to handle these peaks of activity. After all, it was designed to handle Black Friday volume for very large retailers.

A Cohesive Global Team

He added that the organization also absorbed the shocks of COVID-19 well since it was already operating in many cases in hybrid mode. With R&D headquarters based in Quebec City and offices in nearby Montreal, Coveo has employees located globally, primarily in the U.S., with offices in the UK and the Netherlands covering Europe. That said, the team works quite cohesively, and geographic diversity is an advantage. 鈥淚t gives us a sensibility about the world 鈥 an important dynamic because we have customers everywhere. And I think the different opinions, backgrounds, experiences, and cultures come together to create a better product.鈥

The organization is anchored by the long-standing relationships of its co-founders and executives. Co-founders Marc Sanfa莽on leads as senior vice president of Technology, and Richard Tessier as senior vice president of Products, whereas CFO Jean Lavigueur joined in 2006 and current CEO Louis Tetu joined as an early investor in 2008.

鈥淲e built the company, through good days and bad days, as a team based on trust,鈥 Simoneau remarked. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 powerful.鈥

A Natural Fit with 麻豆原创

That鈥檚 one reason why Coveo鈥檚 partnership with 麻豆原创 is a good match: the emphasis on relationships. In less than a year, the Coveo team has built close alliances with 麻豆原创 product marketing, resulting in clear direction on how the Coveo offering can complement the 麻豆原创 Commerce Cloud solution. In addition, continuous conversations with 麻豆原创 execs have led to alignment on product direction, positioning and messaging, and sales strategies.

From a technology standpoint, he noted that the 鈥渉eadless鈥 approach, whereby the 麻豆原创 back end is decoupled from the Coveo front end, makes for an 鈥渆legant architecture鈥 that supports the best functionality of each. Perhaps most relevant of all, Simoneau noted, is that 麻豆原创 stands out as the company that best supports both B2B and B2C, a natural fit with Coveo.

Why not explore today? My bet is that you鈥檒l find it relevant to your business.

麻豆原创 Signavio and LeanIX Bring Process Excellence and Enterprise Architecture Closer Together /2022/06/sap-signavio-leanix-process-excellence-enterprise-architecture/ Wed, 29 Jun 2022 12:15:12 +0000 /?p=197615 It can be tricky for companies to create an IT architecture that delivers the capabilities the business needs to achieve the desired outcomes.

That is the very problem that , 麻豆原创, and Signavio (prior to acquisition by 麻豆原创) have been working on together for the better part of a decade. As technology rapidly evolves to support innovative and dynamic business models and to drive new revenue streams, things just get more complex for IT as businesses leaders creatively leverage their new opportunities.

“It鈥檚 hard to move to a better operating model if you don鈥檛 know what you鈥檙e actually doing or how things work today,鈥 said David Crooks, enterprise architect at Travis Perkins.

For the past nine years, LeanIX and 麻豆原创 Signavio shared a common mindset and goal: help create a common language for IT and business leaders. This idea is game-changing because all the transparency and collaboration in the world does not help if one side doesn鈥檛 understand what the other is truly saying. A shared vision for bridging business and IT has guided our product integration and allowed us to serve our customers better, together.

Earlier this month we took that partnership to a new level. LeanIX continues to be a vital partner for 麻豆原创, and we see customer demand building rapidly as we help deliver faster ROI in our customers鈥 transformation journeys. The LeanIX flagship product, , has been premium certified by 麻豆原创 and is now an 麻豆原创 endorsed app.

Visibility into enterprise architecture is a critical ingredient at any stage of a transformation journey, especially when paired with visibility into the end-to-end business processes that architecture supports, so everyone at the table can understand the feedback loop among operational systems and business outcomes. This partnership enables organizations to accelerate their transformation with an eye toward operational excellence and delivering business results 鈥 not just IT milestones 鈥 faster.

The combination of LeanIX and 麻豆原创 Signavio offers customers what they need to achieve business and IT collaboration, reduce uncertainty, make better decisions, and ultimately accelerate their transformation agendas.

equip companies of all sizes with actionable insights that help them to realize their road map, based on the 麻豆原创 Activate methodology. Combined with LeanIX, customers can achieve an extra layer of insight that spans across their present and future software landscape and relate their technology investments directly to business processes. LeanIX鈥檚 native support for the 麻豆原创 Activate methodology is one of many aspects that underpin the spirit of our partnership and how we serve our joint customers with a common approach and aligned methodology and taxonomy.

LeanIX had out-of-the-box integration with Signavio modelling capabilities as a Signavio partner prior to joining with 麻豆原创, which adds further value to the partnership. The shared product road map includes:

  • Improved integration of LeanIX EAM with 麻豆原创 Signavio Process Manager
  • A new integration with the upcoming version of 麻豆原创 Signavio Journey Modeler
  • Automated insights into cloud-based 麻豆原创 landscapes based on integration with 麻豆原创 Cloud ALM

All these enhancements will help further accelerate our customers transformations, which are literally on the rise thanks to the RISE with 麻豆原创 offering.

“Without the support of LeanIX, a cost-efficient and smooth transition from our old landscape to the new 麻豆原创 S/4HANA software landscape would not have been possible,” said Oliver Dawid, IT enterprise architect at Marc O鈥橮olo.

This partnership will also add value to the One Process Acceleration Layer package, a repository for 麻豆原创 and partner-led best practices and industry-specific processes. Being able to link to these from LeanIX will provide customers the best possible foundation to help plan their business transformation, taking their individual situation of their industry and line of business fully into consideration.

“LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Management enables us to collectively understand the as-is state, for both the 麻豆原创 and non-麻豆原创 landscape, making it easier to define a plan that gets us to the desired state,鈥 said Jochen Fauser of Partner Technology Strategy & Transformation at Deloitte.

The most humbling part about our elevated partnership is the confirmation we have received from the market through extremely positive feedback from customers and partners alike. In the end, the outcome of a partnership is only measured in one currency: customer success.

Stratesys U-Verify: Intelligent Document Verification on 麻豆原创 Store /2022/06/stratesys-u-verify-intelligent-document-verification/ Tue, 21 Jun 2022 12:15:49 +0000 /?p=197318 When I sat down with Francisco Raimundo of Stratesys to talk about the company鈥檚 new product on 麻豆原创 Store, I did not expect to hear about a product development group that acts like a team of entrepreneurs.

After all, Stratesys is a multinational company headquartered in Spain now celebrating its 25th year, with a mature product called U-Qualify and lengthy tenure as an 麻豆原创 partner. No matter. The developers, when given the opportunity to build a new product to solve a knotty business problem, tackled the project with great zeal, Raimundo told me. 鈥淭hey were happy to have the challenge, working nights and weekends to develop something special.鈥

Based in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Raimundo is CEO of the Latin America region for Stratesys. He explained that U-Verify was originally conceived to help companies doing business in Brazil to simplify documentation procedures for compliance, which are notoriously complex in that country. Clients were asking for software that would integrate with 麻豆原创 Ariba procurement solutions. At first, he said, the developers thought they were building a solution with a rather narrow objective, but quickly realized the higher potential for global, cross-industry application.

Authenticating a Market Need

Here鈥檚 why. Every company that contracts with outside vendors 鈥 just about all of them 鈥 must manage a huge volume of documents of various types that must be verified. These documents comprise information about safety, legal, and environmental compliance, sustainability, building security, infrastructure, employees, capital risk, and so forth — much of it confidential and highly sensitive. Similar documentation requirements exist for contingent workers, especially in industries like utilities, mining, retail, and banking, among others. Hence, the U-Verify solution integrates with 麻豆原创 Ariba solutions for supplier verification and 麻豆原创 Fieldglass solutions for employee verification.

鈥淓very worker you are hiring with a third-party supplier must be proven to have training, licenses, medical certification, security clearance 鈥 whatever is relevant for the assignment or project,鈥 he explained. 鈥淔or example, these people could be working with dangerous machines or under hazardous conditions, whether in mining or manufacturing or maintenance or chemicals or healthcare. Their competence and credentials must be validated.鈥

There is little standardization; requirements differ from one region to another and from one company to the next. 鈥淎 single company could be managing documents for 20,000 contract employees annually,鈥 he added, 鈥渏ust to give you an idea of the scope.鈥

U-Verify comes to the rescue with automatic analysis of external workforce documentation, integrating with 麻豆原创 Fieldglass solutions for contingent workforce management, services procurement, worker and documentation tracking, and so on. U-Verify uses machine learning to analyze the documentation rapidly, detect inconsistencies and discrepancies, and alert external suppliers, workers, and managers as relevant. A document management repository with smart search tools locates and checks historical documentation provided by the supplier. Imagine this work being done manually, and you can see why U-Verify has become a fast seller on 麻豆原创 Store.

I asked Raimundo why the development team was so keen on this initiative.

鈥淪ince our company is based in Spain, this type of project would normally be handled by the development team in Europe,鈥 he replied. 鈥淏ut we thought this would be a good opportunity to harness the spirit and creativity of our team in Latin America. The technology was not new to them, but many had not yet worked on a development project utilizing machine learning. They enjoyed rising to the challenge.鈥

Validating Compliance with Encryption and Security

In 2020, just as Stratesys was ready to roll out U-Verify to the 麻豆原创 field sales team in Spain, a customer there approached 麻豆原创 looking for a solution to automate document analysis. 鈥淚t was a pure coincidence,鈥 Raimundo said. For the first project in Spain, the Stratesys team did need to adapt U-Verify to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), he added. Integration with GDPR-compliant 麻豆原创 software, plus close collaboration with 麻豆原创 developers, enabled the Stratesys team to encrypt sensitive information and create a safe, secure environment for contracts and content. Today, U-Verify has customers from M茅xico to Italy, from the UK to South Africa, and, of course, Brazil.

That breadth of coverage can be attributed in large part to 麻豆原创 Store, Raimundo remarked. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a powerful tool that give us both visibility and the opportunity to collaborate with the 麻豆原创 account executives around the world, who recommend our product to their customers. This gives us great confidence in the future and our ongoing partnership with 麻豆原创.鈥

Graham Construction Builds Intelligent Enterprise with 麻豆原创 /2022/06/graham-construction-builds-intelligent-enterprise-with-sap/ Thu, 02 Jun 2022 12:15:37 +0000 /?p=196962 Challenged by inflation that鈥檚 spiking material costs on top of ongoing labor shortages, leaders at construction companies are digitally transforming to realize growth in a fundamentally changed market. One example is , a North American market leader delivering buildings, industrial, infrastructure, and water projects, as well as investment and finance solutions. It鈥檚 implementing ETM.next, an solution from 麻豆原创 developed by BearingPoint, to centralize equipment inventory management.

鈥淲hether it鈥檚 concrete, steel, lumber, or other building materials, inflation and supply chain disruptions have increased the risk every time we submit a project bid,鈥 said Matt Gramblicka, vice president of IT and Enterprise Applications at Graham. 鈥淲e鈥檙e focused on doing things consistently across the board and it starts with solid processes, standards of excellence, and understanding what鈥檚 expected of the people involved in every project. We鈥檙e on a transformational journey with 麻豆原创 that will help us connect data for visibility across the business including labor, equipment, material, and subcontractors.鈥

Connected Data to Become Intelligent Enterprise

Keeping track of construction equipment at any given point in time is a monumental task, especially for a company like Graham. The firm is involved with an ever-increasing range of projects across a large geographical footprint. Typical projects require hundreds and thousands of pieces of equipment from earth-moving excavators, cranes, and scaffolding to generators, tarps, ladders, tools, and more. People are assigned to keep everything in working order as well. With ETM.next, Graham expects greater efficiencies from project start through completion, providing employees with transparency so they know what equipment is available, when, and where. ETM.next is available on and integrated with .

鈥淲e’ve taken care of the back office with 麻豆原创 S/4HANA and our workforce with , and now we’re aiming for efficiency gains across our project sites,鈥 said Gramblicka. 鈥淯sing ETM.next, we can better manage our internal supply chain network. We can quickly identify how to get each project up and running efficiently, making sure sites have the required equipment to get the job done. Over time, we鈥檒l keep our utilization up so equipment isn鈥檛 sitting idle anywhere.鈥

When equipment requests come in, employees will use ETM.next to track availability based on proximity to a site, which will help keep shipping costs down. Collected data will show appropriate information for billing management as well. AI and advanced analytics will help Graham replace manual, paper-based recordkeeping with digitalized and automated processes, increasing efficiencies and real-time visibility into operations.

鈥淲e鈥檒l make sure that we’re getting value out of our capital expenditures on that equipment and that it鈥檚 fully operational for maximum project profitability,鈥 said Gramblicka. 鈥淭racking exact usage times and costs also encourages project leads to return equipment promptly so they’re not paying for something that’s not in use, and we can quickly deploy it to the next site where it鈥檚 needed most.鈥

Integrated Analytics Yield Business Insights

Having expanded its business with larger projects in new locations during the past years, adding ETM.next is the latest strategic move for Graham in working with 麻豆原创.

鈥淲e needed a platform strong enough to manage our growing business, especially connecting our financial core to workforce and payroll, and now equipment,鈥 said Gramblicka. 鈥溌槎乖 has consistently added capabilities that are more user-friendly and efficient process-wise. We needed a fully integrated system where people complete tasks once, and that information flows all the way through to finance, HR, procurement, and the field who can use it for reporting and insights supporting that project and the business overall.鈥

In many ways, becoming an intelligent, sustainable enterprise is core to every organization鈥檚 ability to grow, managing internal and external supply chains with insights from connected data that drive competitive advantage in an increasingly complex, volatile world.

Will the Great Reshuffle Incentivize Employers to Reckon with AI? /2022/05/will-great-reshuffle-incentivize-employers-to-reckon-with-ai/ Wed, 04 May 2022 11:15:27 +0000 /?p=195339 The of the job market is about matching talent with opportunity in an organic way that level sets profitability and people sustainability. In this competitive labor environment, with the agency to own their success and call the shots.

To entice talent, businesses are upgrading the quality of experience they provide both to their employees for internal mobility and to external job candidates. Innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are enabling businesses to deliver this new level of experience, which is transforming internal mobility and talent attraction.

Stacy Chapman, chief data strategist, , and former CEO and founder of SwoopTalent, a leader in talent data intelligence that was recently acquired by 麻豆原创, takes a clear-eyed view of the power of AI to sort hiring and employment decisions. She says, 鈥淭he potential for AI to play a part in improving the human experience is really high, but there is always a decision point in, as a society, do we head to utopia, or do we head to dystopia? I don鈥檛 know that that鈥檚 played itself out yet.鈥

麻豆原创 Acquires SwoopTalent Intellectual Property to Boost Talent Data Intelligence

What concerns Chapman and others are the manifold possibilities for AI to be applied poorly or superficially as a quick fix for efficiency woes but with little regard for the rights of the individual. Alarms have sounded from organizations that track bias and systemic discrimination. In October, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) launched an aimed at ensuring algorithmic fairness for the benefit of applicants, employees, employers, and technology vendors, citing concerns that 鈥渢hese new technologies do not become a high-tech pathway to discrimination.鈥

On average, 40% of enterprise companies are using some AI matching capabilities to support their talent acquisition and sourcing effort, according to , a human capital management (HCM) research and advisory firm. 鈥淲hen done right, AI matching improves the candidate experience, reduces bias in hiring, and improves the quality of applicants,鈥 says Madeline Laurano, founder, Aptitude Research, in a recent . 鈥淐ompanies must take a critical look at the providers they are evaluating, the algorithms that they have in place, and the impact it has on their fair and equitable hiring practices.鈥

Employment decisions are too important to 鈥渓et the machine take care of it.鈥 Employers that are committed to fairness and transparency require a trusted technology partner that adheres to standards for and has access to the troves of quality data needed to train AI models responsibly. 鈥淲hen you talk about AI, there鈥檚 this extraordinary amount of functional understanding that goes into what鈥檚 right, not just what鈥檚 accurate,鈥 says Chapman. 鈥淭his is what we deliver at 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors. We bring so much rich domain expertise and such profound respect for ethics and privacy.鈥

Opening Opportunity for Internal Mobility

With 20 years of leadership in HCM, 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors created a new cloud-based technology category for (HXM) with the goal to unleash the power of human potential in the workplace. shows that empowering employees leads to improved engagement, which has a direct impact on business profitability. A rich, personalized employee experience that matches talent with internal opportunity is a game changer for businesses to achieve agility and profitability while retaining their current workforce.

, introduced in 2021, opens a new dimension in the employee experience by empowering employees to seek new opportunities to grow and invest in themselves within their organizations. Employees will be able to manage their own unique talent profiles, dynamically powered by AI and machine learning, to unlock data-driven opportunities for internal mobility. Talent profiles will be created from data curated by the employee, which can include personal interests, archetypes, aspirations, work style, wellness, reading habits, and similar development tracks of coworkers.

鈥溌槎乖 SuccessFactors Opportunity Marketplace looks really broadly and deeply at the whole self. It has the ability to recommend things far beyond what your previous professional experience might have been,鈥 says Chapman. 鈥淭here is quite a bit of potential to open up new career paths.鈥

Winning Over Talent with Candidate Experience

Candidate experience has emerged as a leading metric for corporate recruiting success. With the volume of jobs left open in the Great Reshuffle, recruiters are too overwhelmed to manage all interactions across multiple touchpoints in the hiring process. They are looking to AI to provide a new level of efficiency and personalization that wins over talent with an amazing candidate experience.

Recruiters succeed when they use AI to supplement a holistic talent strategy while applying their own judgement and experience to evaluate candidates. 鈥淚 would advise them to not 100% rely on the AI as a replacement for their own evaluation,鈥 says Mengtian Jin, data scientist at , where she works with recruiting teams to deploy AI for optimal effectiveness and compliance. 鈥淎lways remember: AI is not to replace you, but to help you to improve your professional efficiency for your work.鈥

Brilliant Hire by 麻豆原创, a fast-growing startup led by a team of 麻豆原创 employees, builds AI-powered solutions that can enable companies to shine as employers of choice by elevating the candidate experience and streamlining the hiring process. Available on for integration into 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors solutions, Brilliant Hire鈥檚 algorithm matches people with job openings based on their skills, not rigid keywords, which helps to attract diverse and qualified candidates by removing unconscious bias. Recruiting teams provide their input during model training to enhance accuracy on a per-customer basis. The startup recently launched an applicant scoring feature to enable recruiters to instantly uncover the most qualified candidates for a job requisition.

A new member of Brilliant Hire鈥檚 Board of Advisors, Chapman is impressed with the startup鈥檚 careful approach to AI. She says, “Brilliant Hire is not only cleverly thinking about the problem and using the right technologies, but it鈥檚 also thoughtfully and kindly thinking about it, so the use of AI becomes very human-oriented and ethical.”

Forter Trust Platform: On the Right Side of Digital Commerce /2022/04/forter-trust-platform-digital-commerce/ Wed, 27 Apr 2022 12:15:32 +0000 /?p=196099 If your organization has a stake in preventing fraud across your digital commerce operations, I鈥檒l venture to say that you want Michael Reitblat and his team at Forter on your side.

As co-founder of the preeminent fraud-detection platform on the market 鈥 now available on 鈥 Reitblat told me that he has long experience in the 鈥渂ad guy space,鈥 building a successful career around staying ahead of bad actors. That means he鈥檚 the good guy for those making an honest living selling products and services online, and for buyers and shoppers making purchases digitally.

Known as 鈥淭he Trust Platform鈥 for digital commerce, Forter doesn鈥檛 focus on keeping people out, rather on creating a seamless customer experience for trusted shoppers. How is this done? Machine learning and automated decisioning. Built upon a data set of billions of online identities, the Forter platform provides accurate decisions on whether the end shopper is who they say they are instantly. This ability to provide real-time decisions also streamlines merchant operations, eliminating any dependence on manual transaction reviews. That鈥檚 the key to understanding the value of this great app.

The truth is that both online consumers and merchants are victimized by sophisticated, well-organized fraud networks, Reitblat explained, stealing and selling data in a chain of hard-to-detect transactions. To counteract that, merchants can inadvertently block shoppers who most need to purchase online because they fit the 鈥渨rong profile鈥 鈥 living in a country known for a high preponderance of fraudsters, for example. Someone might live a long distance from a physical retailer and be unable to buy essential items online, through no fault of their own. 鈥淲e are here to give those buyers access, and that is a great source of pride,鈥 he remarked. Further, if a consumer faces hurdles to online purchasing because of clumsy verification processes, they鈥檒l just shop somewhere else. It is therefore crucial to eliminate false declines and reduce friction throughout the purchase journey.

Foiling Scams through a Circle of Trust

It’s somewhat ironic that the best way to thwart fraud is to operate in an environment of trust. In fact, trust among competitors is at the heart of Forter Fraud Protection. Criminals will target one type of company 鈥 a shoe manufacturer, for example 鈥 and, when detected, move on to exploit the next, giving them the advantage. 鈥淲e reverse that asymmetry,鈥 Reitblat said. 鈥淚f you attack one of our customers, the others are immunized, thanks to an aggregated global network of data. They would never share their data with each other, but they are happy to do it through us.鈥 Simply put, the Forter solution is built to recognize people through their data profile and authenticate them quickly and automatically.

I asked Reitblat about credit card protection. When a consumer reports a fraudulent charge, he replied, the onus is on the retailer, who is left with the expense and is subject to fines or suspension by the credit card issuers if there are too many instances. I was also curious about how Forter stays in front of the fraudsters. Let鈥檚 just say that Reitblat, who grew up in Israel and was once a member of the intelligence community there, has his people. 鈥淒etecting security breaches, theft, the dark economy 鈥 it’s the same world,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e have an active research team staying on top of these constantly evolving threats.鈥

Strength in Numbers

Reitblat co-founded Forter after working with a cybersecurity company that went through an acquisition 鈥 a crushing blow for him. Fortunately, he had reunited with an old high school friend from Jerusalem who also recognized that online commerce was about to take off. 鈥淚n 2013, we still had to convince investors of the need for an authentication capability, and that it had to be fully automated or otherwise would require too many people to be scalable.鈥 That resistance changed quickly, and today Forter is larger than many of its major customers, processing more than US$250 billion in transaction value per year and employing 500 professionals around the world. The solution is deployed in more than 30 countries.

The have resulted in a burst of demand that Reitblat and his partner could not have foreseen. Besides the explosion in online shopping, purchasing behavior and customer demographics across industries changed. New retail features appeared, like curbside pickup, buy online/pick up in store (BOPIS), and contactless check-in and check-out in the hospitality industry. New online buyers included senior citizens, students, and those in advancing geographies who had never transacted online before. Additionally, with the sudden surge of orders to be delivered to alternate addresses 鈥 holiday gifts, for example, or people purchasing for family members 鈥 e-commerce systems had an extra challenge in verifying legitimacy. That process was less complex for Forter customers because its customers were already authenticated in the system.

Forter Fraud Protection is tightly integrated with 麻豆原创 Commerce Cloud. Laura Jorgens, director of Partnerships for Forter, acknowledged 麻豆原创 partner for its 鈥渋ncredible support鈥 in building out the integration. 鈥淲orking with 麻豆原创 and Netconomy feels like one ecosystem pulling together,鈥 she said. 鈥淗ats off to the 麻豆原创 partnership organization.鈥 With the inclusion of Forter鈥檚 solution on 麻豆原创 Store, she added, 鈥溌槎乖 has become one of Forter鈥檚 most important partners.鈥

Why not see for yourself how works? The solution was just an 麻豆原创 Pinnacle Award finalist in the New App of the Year on 麻豆原创 Store category. It鈥檚 available for download on . Or download the 麻豆原创 and Forter .

Sustainable AI Turns Small Data into Huge Results for Manufacturers and Researchers /2022/04/sustainable-sparse-modeling-ai-manufacturers-researchers/ Wed, 27 Apr 2022 11:15:05 +0000 /?p=196053 Sparse modeling artificial intelligence (AI) is edging out traditional deep learning to become the technology of choice for product manufacturers and medical researchers because it ticks off all the boxes for modern quality control: explainability, energy efficiency, and speed. Just ask some of the customers from , a Japan-based startup that鈥檚 developed a standout AI-fueled visual inspection solution.

鈥淪parse modeling AI is a surprising revelation for our clients that need to innovate faster while meeting high-quality standards, whether it鈥檚 electric vehicles, luxury watches, or drug discovery,鈥 said Kenshin Fujiwara, CEO and founder of Hacarus. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e amazed at how we鈥檙e tackling traditional AI鈥檚 dirty secret, reducing the high energy costs of data collection and training, which saves time and our planet鈥檚 resources.鈥

A Green, Explainable AI Alternative

According to some , training a single AI model using traditional machine learning can equal the carbon emissions of five cars across their entire life cycles. That鈥檚 because machine learning algorithms attempt to 鈥渦nderstand鈥 every detail gleaned from huge amounts of data from scratch. In contrast, sparse modeling doesn鈥檛 require training from tens of thousands of images to yield a strong model for prediction. Because it starts with built-in assumptions, restrictions, and hypotheses, sparse modeling saves time by ignoring what鈥檚 already known. This reduces computational time and energy consumption.

On the factory floor, manufacturers need far fewer samples of both good and bad product parts to train the AI model, speeding up visual product inspections to detect defects and anomalies without sacrificing sustainability. Inside research labs, sparse modeling yields more explainable AI. For example, scientists exploring new drug treatments can more easily distinguish chemical compound reactions. In one pilot project with a pharmaceutical company in Japan, Hacarus鈥 solution performed 56 times faster than a deep learning algorithm.

鈥淪parse modeling is ideal for any precision engineering equipment or research company developing advanced products with less data,鈥 said Fujiwara. 鈥淓lectric vehicle parts are a great example because it鈥檚 a brand-new sector. Automakers and suppliers can create a reliable, AI-based model with as little as 20 images. It delivers the equivalent results of deep learning in a fraction of the time and energy.鈥

In addition to electric and combustion-fueled vehicle manufacturers, Hacarus鈥 customers in Japan and Europe span numerous industries, including luxury goods, chemicals, and life sciences. A global pharmaceutical company shortened drug discovery computational times by 99% while gaining insights into correlational changes, bringing crucial explainability into the field. One chemicals and life science products manufacturer combined Hacarus鈥 AI technology with sensors to speed up carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMC) quality inspections by 600%. CMC is an environmentally friendly plant-derived material used in many products such as lithium-ion batteries and high-grade fish feed. The company expected to reduce inspection labor and training costs by about 50% over the next two to three years.

Using AI for Sustainable Business Innovation

Hacarus is Fujiwara鈥檚 fourth startup, and the company鈥檚 history reflects the entrepreneur鈥檚 gold standard of fail fast until you make it with phenomenal success. The startup began as an Internet of Things (IoT)-based kitchen scale, followed by a fitness app 鈥 all the while focusing on small data analysis 鈥 before arriving at sparse modeling to help industrial and researchers achieve more with less.

鈥淗acarus means 鈥榯o measure鈥 in Japanese, and I鈥檝e always been focused on getting results from small data,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e realized that sparse modeling would help companies gain the benefits of AI where gathering large data sets was not possible or economical.鈥

Without More Flexible Hours and Locations, 54% of Workers to Quit /2022/02/without-flexibility-54-percent-to-quit/ Wed, 02 Feb 2022 12:15:07 +0000 /?p=194204 On the cusp of economic growth fueled by a huge wave of digitalization, organizations in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) are transforming talent management strategies to find the tech workers they need.

A recent EY study found that nine out of 10 respondents worldwide, including workers from ANZ, wanted flexibility in their working hours and location. Fifty-four percent of employees were prepared to quit if they weren鈥檛 offered some form of flexibility. According to Thomas Barlow, head of 麻豆原创 Fieldglass Centre of Excellence, Australia and New Zealand, the talent challenge is acute when it comes to tech employees.

鈥淭echnology permeates every part of an organization, requiring people with new skills in areas like data science, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, blockchain, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Organizations need to build a global workforce that meets digitalized business demands,鈥 said Barlow. 鈥淲orkers with specialized expertise typically operate in a highly flexible, agile way. They鈥檙e likelier to be more mobile, in charge of managing their own learning experiences and careers. They also may not be located nearby.鈥

Complete Talent Pool Data Creates Business Resilience

The latest data from the revealed how pandemic lockdowns have accelerated the skills shortage. reported one in four Australian businesses were struggling to find suitable staff to fill job vacancies. In a recent COVID-19 Resilience Ranking from , Australia dropped 21 points compared to over 50 other major economies worldwide. To meet this workforce challenge, leaders are turning to connected data.

鈥淎s companies build more flexible, cross-border workforces, they need full transparency of all employees, including permanent and external workers,鈥 said Barlow. 鈥淲ith complete workforce data, companies are better prepared to identify and deploy the right people with the right skills to support growth forecasts, or pivot quickly in case of unexpected disruptions like the pandemic.鈥

AI-based talent pools like have emerged to help organizations quickly match open positions with pre-qualified candidates from the global external labor pool. Integrated with and available on , WillHire curates emerging talent who have the niche skills that support digital transformation.

Global People Strategy Is Core to Business Execution

Historical talent strategies distinguished between permanent full-time employees and external workers who were typically hired to pitch in as a short-term business fix. With the advent of global marketplaces, talent strategies have transformed to flex with changing business demands.

鈥淐ompanies need to embrace fluidity, looking at talent from the perspective of business results, as opposed to permanent versus contract workers,鈥 said Marc Havercroft, global chief customer officer at 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors. 鈥淔or example, organizations using and 麻豆原创 Fieldglass solutions can easily see how many people work for the company irrespective of an end date on their contract. Data reveals where people are, what skills they have, and their work quality over time. Organizations can quickly identify gaps and find the additional specialists with the latest skills anywhere in the world.鈥

One 麻豆原创 customer, an established ANZ-based financial services organization, needed to digitally transform to attract the next generation of customers. Using both 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors and 麻豆原创 Fieldglass solutions, leaders sourced external tech experts to build digital services, pairing them with existing employees who shared their business knowledge while gaining new skills.

At the other end of the spectrum, a native digital banking startup in ANZ relied on both 麻豆原创 solutions to help guide talent investments in business specialists with go-to-market and customer upselling and engagement capabilities. These experts rounded out the existing team鈥檚 tech-centric skills.

Employee Experience Attracts Global Talent Pool

The same EY study found that worldwide, 72% of respondents believed remotely working would likely have a negative impact on their career opportunities. That percentage was higher (82%) among employees in Asia-Pacific. With greater visibility across the entire workforce, companies can create a strong employee experience in a hybrid 鈥榳ork-from-anywhere鈥 world.

鈥淔ull transparency into an organization鈥檚 workforce capabilities and recruitment needs allows leaders to adopt a continuous learning culture with benefits to the business and employees,鈥 said Havercroft. 鈥淧eople want to learn, making their work enjoyable and career secure. They want to be valued globally for their skills and knowledge, which is probably the biggest benefit of a global talent marketplace.鈥

Business resiliency demands new talent management strategies to match recruitment programs with forecasted growth opportunities, factoring in skills and roles that might not exist yet but are surely on the horizon. For example, 麻豆原创鈥檚 recent acquisition of SwoopTalent鈥檚 IP, an AI-based talent data platform, will allow companies to explore 鈥榳hat-if鈥 scenarios, combining real-world total workforce data to improve ROI on talent investments and other decisions as businesses evolve. Massive growth from digitalization is all well and good. Just make sure you have the business and tech experts on hand to power it.
