The Global Acceptance Index, a survey conducted in 2020 across 167 countries, revealed that acceptance of LGBTQIA+ individuals has been steadily increasing. The global average acceptance score increased from 44% in 2017 to 52% in 2020. Pride month serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made in advancing equality for the LGBTQIA+ community while also highlighting the ongoing challenges that still need to be addressed.

At 麻豆原创, Pride is a commitment to our employees, partners, and customers. Around the world, LGBTQIA+ leaders, colleagues, and allies champion equality, shine bright, and achieve success no matter who they are. Diversity and inclusion are business priorities, and, as a brand, we are proud to stand up for LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Celebrating Pride Month at 麻豆原创

Pride@麻豆原创 kicked off Pride month celebrations with an insightful discussion on the topic of intersectional allyship with , the premier organization working exclusively on LGBTQIA+ workplace equality. Julia White, chief marketing and solutions officer, member of the Executive Board of 麻豆原创 SE, and sponsor of Pride@麻豆原创, Supriya Jha, chief diversity and inclusion officer at 麻豆原创, and the global leadership of Pride@麻豆原创 explored the strength of embracing diverse identities, understanding intersectionality, and expanding our capacity for allyship. The audience gained insights into the impact of discrimination on individuals and organizations while developing vital skills to foster diversity and inclusion from Rebecca York, manager, Leadership, Learning & Development, Out and Equal.

This engaging event set the tone for a series of global and regional activities that spanned over 15 locations. On June 21, the team hosted Chris Rollins, founder & CEO, Ripple Effect Leadership, in an internal event on strengthening our path to allyship using small moments of vulnerability, kindness, empathy, curiosity, and humility to create ripple effects on your team, no matter where you sit in the organization, and impact your efforts toward inclusion.

From Pride parades to community festivals and networking, these events offered opportunities for employees, partners, and allies to come together, celebrate diversity, and foster a sense of unity.

Proud at 麻豆原创: Interview with Robyn Arroyo /2023/06/proud-at-sap-robyn-arroyo/ Wed, 28 Jun 2023 12:15:17 +0000 /?p=205604 In the latest episode of the AHA! Moments for Diversity & Inclusion video series, 麻豆原创 Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Supriya Jha and 麻豆原创 Concur Senior Compliance Lead Robyn Arroyo discuss how 麻豆原创 is a safe environment for LGBTQIA+ employees and how this empowered and encouraged Arroyo to openly transition in the workplace.

Arroyo uses she/her/hers pronouns, identifies as a woman, and regards being transgender as a process and not an identity. As a woman, a Latina, and a member of the security and compliance community at large, 麻豆原创 Concur, Intelligent Spend Management, and 麻豆原创, she discusses how intersectionality 鈥 the overlap of distinct identities 鈥 is key for understanding that LGBTQIA+ individuals are more than their sexual orientation or gender identity. At 麻豆原创, intersectionality is part of our culture and allows Arroyo to bring all these identities together and be her authentic self at work.

Embracing LGBTQ+ Identity AHA! Moments in D&I

The AHA! Moments

For Arroyo, there was not one but two defining AHA! moments in her life when she realized that she can be her authentic self at work 鈥 the 2020 U.S. Supreme Court Bostock v. Clayton County ruling and reviewing the 麻豆原创 gender transition guidelines.

In June 2020, 19 years after the birth of Pride@麻豆原创 and nine years after 麻豆原创 pledged in its to prohibit 鈥渄iscrimination and harassment based on personal factors including but not limited to […] gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression,鈥 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled it was illegal to fire employees because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Prior to this ruling, employees could be fired for being gay, bisexual, or transgender in more than half the states in the U.S. 鈥淪eeing that ruling,鈥 recalls Arroyo, 鈥渨as very encouraging for me to come forth in the workplace to be myself.鈥

The 麻豆原创 gender transition guidelines also signaled clearly to her that 麻豆原创 is a safe place to transition.

For many transgender people, including Arroyo, there comes a point when they start to align their lives and physical identities to their gender identity, generally with the goal of living consistently in their gender identity full time. Employers are key to facilitating this process to make it as smooth as possible. For many 麻豆原创 employees, teams, and managers, working with a transitioning or transitioned colleague will be a new situation; there may be anxiety about expected behavior or questions and uncertainty about how to support a colleague during the gender transition process.

The Employee View

The 麻豆原创 gender transition guidelines set out clearly how an employee can start this process 鈥 from the notification of gender transition to clarification on appearance. All 麻豆原创 employees are bound to the 麻豆原创 dress code and have the right to express themselves according to their gender identity. Issues like restroom and health facilities access based on an employee鈥檚 gender identity are also, for example, addressed in the guidelines.

The HR and Manager View

The correct support of HR and the manager of the transitioning employee is a top priority to safeguard employee well-being.

The guidelines explain how HR designates a people relations partner to support the transgender or transitioning employee and explains the manager鈥檚 obligation to respect employee privacy. It also provides guidance on how a manager can address concerns of other team members as questions may arise. Managers are urged to be open, to listen, and to work closely with the people relations partner.

HR is also responsible for changing names and pronouns on all non-regulatory documentation such as e-mail, access badge, and so on.

No More Deadnaming

Deadnaming happens when a person鈥檚 previous name, which does not correspond to their gender identity, is used. Using this previous name stops others from seeing and getting a sense of the person鈥檚 true identity.

Arroyo explains that updating her name, pronouns, and gender marker in company applications, such as 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors solutions, e-mail, MS Teams, and other communication systems, was extremely important to convey to others who she is. Although this was not a simple process because of the coordination required between the IT and HR departments, these updates are crucial to successfully transitioning at 麻豆原创.

Updating her name to Robyn was a critical component in coming out at 麻豆原创. It allowed her to be her authentic self and, as she says with a broad smile, 鈥淲hen I saw my name, I saw myself. And when others see my name, they know who I am.鈥

The Crucial Role of Pride@麻豆原创

Employee Network Groups (ENGs) are voluntary, employee-led diversity and inclusion initiatives that are formally supported by 麻豆原创. Pride@麻豆原创 was the first one, founded more than 20 years ago in 2001.

Sponsored by Member of the Executive Board of 麻豆原创 SE and Chief Marketing & Solutions Officer Julia White, Pride@麻豆原创 is dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. It operates in 40 chapters globally and plays a crucial role in delivering on 麻豆原创鈥檚 commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion.

In 2022, awards celebrating and acknowledging this unwavering and long-term commitment included:

  • 麻豆原创 America Inc: from the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index
  • 麻豆原创 Brazil: to build an inclusive workplace for LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion employers鈥 from the Human Rights Campaign and聽Mais Diversidade
  • 麻豆原创 Japan: from Work with Pride

Pride@麻豆原创 also drives LGBTQ+ education awareness programs as part of the inclusive mindset challenge 鈥 a set of bite-sized challenges dedicated to making 麻豆原创 a space of inclusion and belonging. To mark Pride month, mindset challenges on intersectionality within the LGBTQ+ community, homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia are being released.

Designing 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors Products with Intentional, Scalable Inclusivity /2022/06/designing-sap-successfactors-products-inclusivity/ Tue, 21 Jun 2022 13:15:29 +0000 /?p=197558 I look forward to celebrating Pride every year, whether it be with one of our many LGBTQ+ colleagues or the countless others like me who consider themselves allies. Throughout the month of June, 麻豆原创 has held panels, meetups, Pride parade celebrations, and so much more, all in the service of building relationships and expanding learning.

At 麻豆原创, inclusion and diversity is core to our culture. 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors strives to develop each of our products with an intentionally inclusive mindset. This means incorporating different people and perspectives from the very start of and long after a product has 鈥渓aunched.鈥 It means ensuring products are accessible, constantly evaluating algorithms, and building products that can be used according to individual preferences. It also means practicing our own growth mindset to adapt and evolve as we learn new things.

Today, organizations and C-suites across the world promote the important and long overdue conversations of inclusivity and belonging. People are not cogs 鈥 how someone understands and defines themself is constantly evolving. In fact, according to the Harvard Business Review, .聽So, it鈥檚 important for all of us to consider what more can be done at work to ensure that our colleagues feel accepted and that our software adapts to these changes.

It鈥檚 important to listen.

In conversations I鈥檝e had with our LGBTQ+ colleagues at 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors as well as customers and advocates outside the company, I鈥檝e learned so much about what the community expects 鈥 and deserves 鈥 in their tech. All too often, organizations make the mistake of assuming that their individual workers want to be 鈥渢reated like everyone else.鈥

Of course, being treated the same for some is progress, but I still find that far too limiting.聽There is an opportunity to level up to celebrating each individual for exactly what makes them unique. And to do that, the tools we use must enable the recognition and empowerment of the full spectrum of human experience and identities.

Bringing your whole self to work means that you can share your skills and capabilities as well as your goals, passions, and interests. It means that you can share life events and be open about how those could change your goals. And it means each person 鈥 every person 鈥 feels empowered to show up proudly wearing their truth, especially historically marginalized communities like those who identify themselves as LGBTQ+.

Younger generations entering the workforce today consider the ability to control the displays of their identities, such as chosen names and , a crucial part of their work experience. And this all takes part in a larger conversation of intersectional priorities, like an expectation of digital accessibility for the differently abled.

With 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors solutions, we are building inclusivity at scale. With our whole self model, grounded in research, we look beyond skills and competencies to better understand more about the individual, their strengths, aspirations, preferences, and more. We are building this on a data foundation to leverage machine learning and adaptability so that organizations can empower people to bring their authentic selves to work. By focusing on the individual, we help our customers create a sustainable workforce where employees 鈥 and the business 鈥 thrive.

Because this isn鈥檛 just the right thing to do 鈥 though it certainly is that 鈥 it鈥檚 a business imperative, too. According to recent statistics:

  • Companies that鈥 in the stock market by more than 3%.
  • Seventy-seven percent of CEOs whose organizations have .
  • Seventy-five percent of LGBTQ+ employees related to their identity at work in the year preceding, with 41% experiencing more than ten types of such interaction.
  • Seventy-two percent of employees say they in creating and supporting an inclusive work environment.

I鈥檓 proud of 麻豆原创 and our own record on inclusivity. We鈥檙e committed to being a diverse and inclusive software company. In 2022, the U.S. Human Rights Campaign Foundation again named our company a , a title we鈥檝e carried since 2014.

And of course, as users of our own solutions, we know that our 麻豆原创 SuccessFactors solutions enable not only our customers but our friends and colleagues as well. As 麻豆原创 works toward our goal of zero waste, zero emissions, and zero inequality, we are building the tech to match the moment.

We Run Proud: Pride@麻豆原创 Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary /2021/06/pride-sap-celebrates-20th-anniversary/ Fri, 04 Jun 2021 12:15:57 +0000 /?p=185914 Why do we celebrate Pride Month? On June 28, 1969, , resulted in resistance that would ultimately contribute to significantly decreasing discrimination, harassment, and violence against the LGBT+ community.

The protest lasted for days, marking a turning point in LGBT+ rights activism. In this time period, jurisdictions of many countries, including Germany, defined homosexuality as a crime.

Our progress since then is worth celebrating and today the world recognizes Pride Month and demonstrates the rights of the LGBT+ community every year during June. Notable achievements over the years include multiple countries dropping anti-gay legislation, legalization of same-sex marriage, and introduction of inclusive education. In addition, representation in music, film, politics, and the media has greatly improved.

Despite momentous strides forward, discrimination remains commonplace. Some 69 countries still criminalize homosexuality; 26 severely penalize transgender people; 10 enact death as a punishment. Almost a third of the world is still not safe.

Discrimination is not always a physical or verbal attack; it can take many forms, such as restrictions to healthcare, education, information, and other personal benefits. Discrimination is not always obvious.

At 麻豆原创, we are fortunate to have leaders, colleagues, and allies around the world. Diversity and inclusion is a business priority and as a brand, we are proud to stand up for what is right.

麻豆原创 employees are proud to be part of a multi-cultural workforce and guided by a diverse leadership team. Over the years, 麻豆原创 has created a safe space where every employee feels welcomed, fueling the company’s creativity to provide excellent products and services to 麻豆原创 customers every day.

麻豆原创 CEO Christian KleinNo less than 麻豆原创 CEO Christian Klein has put a premium on guaranteeing the company鈥檚 inclusive and diverse culture: “This is a special year. We’re celebrating 20 years of Pride@麻豆原创! We thrive on diversity, and this is thanks to so many engaged colleagues shaping an inclusive culture. At 麻豆原创, we want to make sure that all voices are being heard. It shouldn’t be a privilege to be able to be your true self at work or anywhere else, and we want to support all our colleagues so that they feel comfortable in doing so. Let’s celebrate diversity and equality and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community — during this Pride Month and every other day of the year.”

The Clear Business Case for Diversity and Inclusion

Likewise, the data demonstrates the benefits of being a diverse and inclusive business.

  • Companies that in the stock market by more than three percent
  • 77% of CEOs whose organizations have
  • 72% of employees said they

By whatever margin one assesses, be it profit, employee satisfaction, or innovation, being unbiased leads to improved results.

Pride@麻豆原创 Leadership Allies Are Key

Pride@麻豆原创 provides a safe space for the community and actively engages in driving LGBT+ inclusion and diversity at 麻豆原创. Together, 麻豆原创 employees stand up against inequality and raise their voices whenever needed.

As a volunteer network, Pride@麻豆原创 is proud to be supported by 麻豆原创 executives, community members, and allies, and will always encourage more colleagues to raise their voices in support of the LGBT+ community. Because intolerance affects everyone and at 麻豆原创, the employees determine their culture 鈥 no one shall be left behind.

麻豆原创 Chief Marketing and Solutions Officer Julia White“As a proud mother to a non-binary child, supporting the LGBT+ community is especially close to my heart,鈥 said Julia White, chief marketing and solutions officer and member of the Executive Board of 麻豆原创 SE. 鈥淎nd while we have come so far, I believe that there remains a constant and urgent need to fight for equality in our society. 20 Years of Pride@麻豆原创

June 1, 2001, marked the birth of Pride@麻豆原创, which represents the LGBT+ community and its allies at 麻豆原创. Since then, the group has grown to include a truly global network with 38 chapters around the world and over 8,000 members.

Although 20 years is a milestone worth celebrating, out of respect to the current situation and the hardship that this pandemic is causing for so many of us globally, big celebrations were postponed. Instead, Pride@麻豆原创 has focused on more impactful virtual events to raise awareness and commemorate LGBT+ community achievements, like:

  • 2010: 麻豆原创 on Corporate Equality Index (CEI)
  • 2012: 麻豆原创 participates in the project
  • 2015: 麻豆原创 walks and signs
  • 2016: 麻豆原创 becomes and listed on
  • 2017: 麻豆原创 signs fighting LGBT+ discrimination

麻豆原创 Votes a Clear No on Intolerance

There’s no resting on one’s laurels when driving diversity and inclusion because there is always more to do. 麻豆原创 believes that everyone has the right to be who they are and become their authentic selves. It creates a safe space for employees to feel comfortable in all facets they bring to the organization.

There is no doubt that fostering diversity and inclusion is the right thing to do on all fronts. Pride@麻豆原创 is unceasingly proud to set a thought-leading and provoking diversity and inclusion example.

The fight for equality is crucial and still relevant. Numerous countries are still hostile toward the LGBT+ community. Anti-LGBT laws and policies have bred stigma, discrimination, hate crimes, and punishment toward the community and its allies. This unfortunate situation is simply unacceptable to 麻豆原创.

We invite you to join 麻豆原创 and the rest of the world in driving equality. You can start by becoming an ally and engage with your local community’s diversity and inclusion efforts.
