is India鈥檚 leading food and agri-tech company, using innovative food development and distribution technology to scale and operate a complex supply chain, from farm to fork. WayCool鈥檚 consumer brands basket consists of Madhuram, Kitchenji, L鈥檈xotique, Dezi Fresh and Freshey鈥檚.

Since its inception in 2015, WayCool has focused strongly on its sustainability objective to deliver both positive impact and profitability. The company has invested in solar roof-top projects to harness green power as well as water treatment and reuse systems. These interventions across its operations have not only resulted in avoiding 120 tons of carbon emissions and saving 1,980 KL of fresh water, but also delivered economic savings of $12,500 in FY2022-23.

Focusing on innovation and efficient supply chain systems, WayCool has managed to restrict the food loss in its supply chain to less than 2%, compared to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) food loss projection of 14.7%. Furthermore, the company has electrified 22% of its last last-mile delivery fleet, covering 1.2 million kms and eliminating 289 tons of logistic carbon emissions. The company has a commitment to shift to 100% EVs in its last-mile delivery by 2030.

Mr. Srinidhi S. Rao, Head of ESG at WayCool Foods, said,听鈥淲e have embedded environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices across our business process.鈥

麻豆原创 helped WayCool embrace digital transformation in its sustainability journey through the design, development, and implementation of an environmental dashboard based on the 麻豆原创 Analytics platform.

The dashboard collects raw data from various disparate sources, including Internet of Things (IoT) devices, transactional data from its 麻豆原创 enterprise resource planning system, and application databases, and converts it into productive insights to make informed business decisions.

It provides a comprehensive view of sustainability key performance indicators with over 90% accuracy across various parameters including clean energy generation, energy efficiency, water efficiency and treatment, and waste management. It also provides a fully-fledged greenhouse gas emissions measurement (GHG) to benchmark past and present performance, identify any anomalies, and holistically report sustainability performance.

鈥淥ur advanced analytics powered E&S dashboard has not only enabled us to visualize the ground level impact of our environment initiatives but, by publishing reliable real-time data, facilitates better decision-making backed by insights,鈥 continued Mr. Rao. 鈥淭his is a significant step in our net-zero journey as we continue to demonstrate how climate-smart initiatives can also add to profitability, making them business-smart too.鈥

The innovation was recognised by 麻豆原创 after WayCool won the 鈥楽ustainability Champion鈥 category at the 2022 麻豆原创 ACE Awards.

麻豆原创 Reveals Asia Businesses Yet to See Value from Sustainability Strategies /sea/2022/11/sap-reveals-asia-businesses-yet-to-see-value-from-sustainability-strategies/ Mon, 07 Nov 2022 09:15:13 +0000 /sea/?p=3397 New research shows focus on compliance possibly hindering sustainability outcomes.

SINGAPORE Recent research by Oxford Economics and (NYSE: 麻豆原创) has revealed work remains to be done to drive value from sustainability for businesses in Asia. While 66% of businesses do not think it鈥檚 difficult to be sustainable and profitable at the same time, just 8% say they receive significant value from their sustainability strategies today.听

This may be because many organizations remain disconnected from sustainability plans and actions. On average, 60% of businesses have a clearly communicated sustainability plan, with Japan leading at 68% whilst Indonesia scoring lowest at 46%. Only 20% in the region have incentivized leaders based on its success and less than half (44%) say their employees are active participants in their sustainability efforts, with the highest in India at 52%, followed by Singapore at 51% and the lowest in Malaysia at 33%.

Regulatory compliance is both a key sustainability driver and a challenge in Southeast Asia

From the research, data has shown regulatory mandates are one of the key drivers of sustainability strategies, with Singapore leading at 74%, 60% for Indonesia and 52% for Malaysia.听

Organizations may need to refocus on their strategies to achieve greater value and benefit from sustainability. Compliance is the main benefit companies derive from sustainability (46%), ahead of reduced carbon emissions, with Indonesia scoring the highest at 56%, Singapore at 43% and the lowest for Malaysia at 39%. Too much focus on compliance is the second biggest sustainability challenge for businesses (26%), only behind reinventing business strategy, with the highest score attained by Singapore 32%, Indonesia 27% and the lowest being Malaysia at 23%.听

鈥淚t is an encouraging sign that businesses across South East Asia are increasingly mindful of sustainability practices along their entire supply chain, including those of their suppliers,鈥 said Verena Siow, President and Managing Director, 麻豆原创 South East Asia. 鈥淭here is no time to waste to move beyond strategy and to achieve real, tangible results. In three years, almost a third of businesses expect significant value from their sustainability strategy 鈥 and we believe that with the right focus, this number can be even higher.鈥

Data is key to improving sustainability outcomes

Key to improving sustainability outcomes will be the effective use of organizational data to make more informed decisions. According to the survey, accurate data was ranked as among the most significant activities to reach carbon reduction goals amongst businesses in South East Asia.听

Yet, ineffective data for decision-making is considered a moderate challenge in the region. The research also found that less than one in six (13%) businesses in Singapore, and less than a quarter (23%) in Malaysia and Indonesia, have calculated their total organizational carbon output. A majority (60% in Singapore, 77% in Malaysia) have begun the process in some areas versus only 31% in Indonesia. Of the businesses that have made begun measuring their carbon, 62% across the region have made changes to their processes based on the calculations.

More needs to be done. Investments in data analysis to measure sustainability in business remain the minority with 47% in Singapore, 35% in Malaysia and 31% in Indonesia citing their commitment to the investment. Similarly, training of staff on capturing sustainability data saw only 36% of Singapore businesses currently doing so, versus 40% in Indonesia and 50% in Malaysia.听

Sustainability leadership is needed

Action on sustainability is needed urgently. Beyond the impact on the environment, just 33% of Indonesian businesses say their workforces aren鈥檛 aware that missing sustainability targets will drive customers to their competition, followed by 21% of Malaysian businesses, and only 15% of Singapore businesses.听

Businesses that are achieving value from sustainability are defined by traits such as setting clear expectations at the strategic level, applying the transformative power of technology and data management, and engaging with important audiences such as employees, supply chain partners and policymakers.听

鈥淪ustainability leaders go beyond vision to ensure that sustainability initiatives are acted upon,鈥 said Edward Cone, editorial director, of Oxford Economics. 鈥淭hey communicate with key constituencies both inside and outside the company, and they use integrated technologies to measure and track performance in a way that drives accountability.鈥

In this year鈥檚 COP27, 麻豆原创 has pledged to support more policy transformation globally and help innovate sustainable businesses by reenergizing emerging economies to achieve a trillion-dollar greener impact and job generation.听

鈥淧ublic, private and plural partnerships are quintessential to effect the required change for a green economy in ASEAN. Business leaders in South East Asia should not perceive sustainability action as a risk mitigation measure only. It is an opportunity to realize new sustainable revenue streams, find new efficiencies, and build new business models based on low-emission, circular, and ultimately regenerative concepts to benefit both the organization and for our society at large,鈥 added Siow.

麻豆原创 has most recently updated its solution to offer what companies are looking for today to run more sustainably.

MANILA, Philippines 鈥 The call for concerted efforts to ensure a sustainable future continues to generate significant strides as people and organizations become more aware of its importance. Nowadays, for instance, more and more companies are joining the sustainability movement, heeding the call to embrace net zero.

According to the United Nations (UN), net-zero means cutting greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible by transforming how companies produce, consume and do business. On its UN also noted that over 1,200 companies had put science-based targets in line with this movement, plus other nations, cities, institutions, and organizations, pledging to take rigorous, immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030.

is among the companies that commit to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, pushing toward a sustainable future. ACEN is the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group, with ~4,000 MW of attributable capacity in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Australia. The company鈥檚 renewable capacity share is at 87 percent, which is among the highest in the region. Most recently, ACEN announced its new corporate vision and strategy, targeting 20 GW of attributable renewables capacity by 2030.

ACEN鈥檚 environmental role is built on three foundations鈥揷limate change, biodiversity, and resource efficiency. But the company knew that its green journey should start from within the enterprise and by ensuring that necessary technology and tools are available to improve their processes. That is why ACEN aims to lead the charge in the renewables revolution and towards adopting technology.

鈥淲ithout a digital business platform, running a day-to-day business can be challenging. Entities were set up differently, so teams needed more effort to collaborate. When people and processes are misaligned, work often must be redone, leading to wasted time, effort, energy, and materials,鈥 said ACEN Executive Director and Head of Commercial Operations & Information Technology, Miguel de Jesus.

With the goal of addressing this concern, ACEN implemented 麻豆原创 S/4HANA on Azure with the aim to creating a unified digital business platform covering finance, procurement, inventory, and asset maintenance across multiple entities.

麻豆原创 S/4HANA helped enable the company to have visibility across its entities. This is crucial since ACEN teams must collaborate to formulate and execute strategic ways to increase solar and wind plant capacities while reducing inefficiencies and waste.

In addition, from the usual 12 days of standard financial statements completion, ACEN was able to finish it in a week. There was a notable decrease in the error rate for audit adjustments from eight percent to less than five percent. And within one year, ACEN successfully utilized 麻豆原创 S/4 HANA in 15 entities.

鈥淗aving 麻豆原创 helps us to focus on our long-term goal: Net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As we commit to net zero, we are confident that the way we run our business will also have sustainability at its core: efficient internal processes, alignment towards business objectives, scalability, and expansion. Moreover, through automation and digitalization, we incorporate sustainability practices, including reducing waste of time, effort, and materials,鈥 said Hannie Tucay, ACEN Vice President for Finance.

According to Delaware Managed Services and IT Consulting Inc., implementation partner ACEN established an impactful work for its shareholders, employees, and society. The company embarked on a greenfield implementation of S/4HANA for the Financials, Materials Management, and Plant Maintenance modules. Phase 1 was focused on establishing a golden template. Phase 2 was a template rollout to 11 entities, focusing on renewable solar and wind plants. From 2022 onwards, 25 more companies will follow suit.

ACEN has been able to embark on its mission to achieve efficiency in day-to-day operations with streamlined processes on a digital platform. This mission includes improving corporate governance, reducing cybersecurity risks, and minimizing paper wastage. In addition to this, learning a new skill, such as 麻豆原创 S/4HANA, helped contribute to human empowerment in the workplace.

Acknowledging its efforts, ACEN was one of the finalists in . Marking its 50th year anniversary, 麻豆原创 continues to celebrate businesses and individuals that lead the way鈥攖hose who have adapted to the rapidly evolving business landscape and delivered success amidst today鈥檚 disruptive economy, through these Awards

鈥淎t 麻豆原创, we are both an enabler and an exemplar of our sustainability practices with a clear 鈥楥hasing Zero鈥 vision. We hope to continue working collectively with organizations like ACEN that prioritize Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities that help create a more sustainable future. Indeed, it is time for us to consider technology as a tool for capturing, managing, analyzing, and using sustainability data more efficiently so we can ensure a future that is greener, cleaner, and more equal than the world we live in today,鈥 said Rudy Abrahams, Managing Director 麻豆原创 Philippines.

ACEN is among the finalists for the Sustainability Award – The Future Maker, a new category in the 麻豆原创 Best Run Awards. It aims to recognize the enterprises in SEA that are driving their organizations purposefully towards sustainability, doing their part to preserve the environment for the future.

How Tech Changes Retail Game /sea/2022/04/how-tech-changes-retail-game/ Fri, 01 Apr 2022 07:20:53 +0000 /sea/?p=2779 Retailers need to recalibrate their digital transformation strategies in the 鈥渘ever normal鈥 scenario of the continuing pandemic.

Retailers need to recalibrate their digital transformation strategies in the 鈥渘ever normal鈥 scenario of the continuing pandemic.

麻豆原创 Industry Business Architect 鈥 Retail and Consumer Products Gabriel Lorenzo Santos underscored this need in a recent virtual event, 鈥楻etail Reimagined: How Technology Changes the Game of Retail in 2022,鈥 hosted by the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) and co-presented by 麻豆原创 Southeast Asia.

Already, the pandemic changed the way consumers behave.
Last year, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) noted an increase in spending on various categories, such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, restaurants and hotels, furnishings, and household equipment for work-from-home setups even clothing and footwear.

A recent study by Visa also revealed that nine out of 10 Filipinos increased their digital shopping activities and are now using online delivery services.

Meanwhile, 73 percent of 1,014 respondents have adopted more contactless payments.

In addition, Filipinos are now more conscious of sustainable and socially responsible commodities.
Hence, retailers should identify gaps that need to be addressed, whether they are in product availability, delivery, or logistics.

Businesses should know what an intelligent and agile enterprise looks like to help identify these gaps.

鈥淎n intelligent enterprise starts with having insights on processes that need improvement, automation, and innovation, coupled with cross-application analytics, delivering new dimensions of real-time and predictive insight and foresight,鈥 Santos pointed out.

At the heart of this strategy is an intelligent suite of applications providing core end-to-end processes and helping businesses manage every part of the organization, such as finance, employees, customers, services, and even IT.

For 麻豆原创, integrating industry-specific cloud applications must be part of the strategy to enrich business processes, specifically for retail.

The intelligent suite and industry cloud can be enveloped by experience and sustainability management solutions to help ensure that retailers hear their customers and adhere to their sustainability goals.

These solutions run on a scalable business technology platform, serving as the standard architecture for analytics development and data storage, allowing enterprises to innovate much faster.

Finally, the business network takes this strategy outside the four walls of enterprises, allowing companies to collaborate with trading partners to drive connected processes and experiences.

Some companies remain hesitant in integrating new technologies since acquiring them for a specific process is already troublesome, making it challenging to involve the entire enterprise.

To address this problem, 麻豆原创 offers RISE with 麻豆原创, a Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) offering that consolidates solutions and services needed for business transformation in one package.

Nowadays, companies that thrive are those that adapt quickly.

However, true transformation takes changing an organizations鈥 culture and shifting its mindset.

It requires redesigning business plans and processes and demands new technologies that unlock new ways of running a retail business.

Leveraging technology can help bridge the gap to ensure a seamless experience despite changing demands and buying behaviors, improving the topline and bottom line.

鈥淎cross our customers, benefits have been reaped with the use of technology, such as improved customer satisfaction, reduced days in inventory, reduced customer churn, and even increased digital channel revenue, which are relevant in today鈥檚 situation,鈥 he concluded.

It is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action based on a resolution of the German parliament, the Bundestag.

麻豆原创 Malaysia鈥檚 Deep Alignment with 12MP

Meanwhile, Hong said that 麻豆原创鈥檚 mission in Malaysia is deeply aligned with the sustainability goal outlined within the 12th Malaysian Plan (or 鈥12MP鈥). Under the 12MP, the goal is for Malaysia to become carbon-neutral as early as 2050, with carbon pricing and carbon tax to be introduced.

鈥淎ll these aspects 鈥 social, environmental, and economic activities and performance 鈥 are interrelated with each aspect impacting the others. Hence, our efforts focus on helping to create a sustainable future for Malaysia, our customers, and society at large,鈥 said Hong.

鈥淒igital solutions enable businesses to embed circular practices across their operations, from designing products to help reduce waste from the outset, to tracking the lifecycle of the materials they use.

鈥淎t our end, 麻豆原创鈥檚 data-driven approach lets businesses embed sustainability comprehensively to gain actionable insights across the value chain to enable companies to transition to low-carbon business processes. KUALA LUMPUR: With 麻豆原创鈥檚 purpose of 鈥榟elping the world run better while improving people’s lives鈥, it comes as no surprise that sustainability is high on the company’s agenda, more so since it is also a key theme within the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP).

, the goal is for Malaysia to become carbon-neutral as early as 2050, with carbon pricing and carbon tax to be introduced. A comprehensive National Energy Policy will also be introduced to provide long-term strategic direction to support national aspiration of carbon neutrality.

According to 麻豆原创 Malaysia managing director Hong Kok Cheong, social, environmental, and economic activities and performance are interrelated, with each aspect impacting the others.

The new solution helps companies gain better visibility of material flows through their processes including tracking and complying with rapidly changing regulations, especially those concerning product packaging and plastics. As businesses increasingly develop sustainable products, managing materials and regulatory data is becoming one of the most complex challenges across the consumer industry today.

鈥淭he circular economy is based on three principles, driven by design 鈥 eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regenerate nature,鈥 said Hong.

鈥淒igital solutions play an important role in the transition to a circular economy. They enable businesses to embed circular practices across their operations, from designing products to help reduce waste from the outset, to tracking the lifecycle of the materials they use.鈥

For example, a shampoo brand manager has visibility into the full product lifecycle, including their extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations and the plastic taxes of different markets. This visibility helps the brand manager make design changes to reduce waste and decisions on how to lower the costs of the downstream re-use and recycling systems.

The 麻豆原创 Product Footprint Management solution, meanwhile, is part of a new portfolio of sustainability-specific business applications that deliver transparency and measurement capability across the supply chain, allowing companies to move toward lower carbon emissions and more sustainable operations.

By integrating data across solutions that govern production processes with master data from business applications such as 麻豆原创 S/4HANA庐, 麻豆原创 Product Footprint Management can calculate the environmental impact of various production scenarios.

麻豆原创鈥檚 data-driven approach lets businesses embed sustainability comprehensively and gain actionable insights across the value chain to enable companies to transition to low-carbon business processes. Taking a differentiating approach, 麻豆原创 enables businesses to proactively identify the carbon impact at the beginning of the product lifecycle instead of reactively after a product has been produced.

Redefines workplace model in the never normal, with a focus on sustainability

Reception desk at 麻豆原创 office in Singapore

Singapore, South East Asia 鈥 November 30, 2021 鈥 (NYSE: 麻豆原创) today announces that it has transformed its traditional office with dedicated desks to an activity-based workspace with free seating to maximize team collaboration and social interaction, the first in Southeast Asia (SEA) today. The new office is a result of 麻豆原创鈥檚 Pledge to Flex initiative in June 2021 to empower employees to choose where to work and when. With the help of independent consultant Change Worq, 麻豆原创 reassessed its office footprint and redesigned it for a hybrid workforce.

麻豆原创 found that 88% of employees spent less than 50% of their working day at their desks based on a utilization study. Focusing on employee needs, the office now offers flexible spaces where employees can choose a suitable location for their activity, whether a quiet room for confidential discussions or a lounge area for the team to get together. The office promotes in-person activities for brainstorming, collaboration, and social interaction that employees miss about the office when working from home.

鈥淐oming into the workplace is no longer about the physical amenities, it is about the employee experience which revolves around the 3Es 鈥 employee engagement, environment, and education. Engagement means offering the best career experience to our employees through our diversity and inclusion initiatives where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed,鈥 said Verena Siow, President and Managing Director, Southeast Asia at 麻豆原创.

鈥淐limate crisis requires collective action and supporting the environment is a key area for us to rally our employees through our sustainable practices and by reducing our carbon impact. In addition, empowering our employees for the future of work with digital skills and competences in growing areas of demand such as data analytics and AI in the Fourth Industrial Revolution helps them thrive as their jobs evolve,鈥 added Siow.

Aligned with the Singapore Green Plan for a sustainable future, 麻豆原创 has dedicated 5% of the total space to greeneries that minimizes indoor air pollutants and eco-friendly innovations such as energy-efficient LED bulbs for a healthier and greener work environment. Employee learning and training for the future of work

According to the World Economic Forum, more than 1 billion jobs, almost one-third of all jobs worldwide, are likely to be transformed by technology in the next decade. In response to this constantly changing nature of work, new skills need to be developed and expanded.

Individuals and teams must find ways to access organizational knowledge and learning, and 麻豆原创, through its variety of learning and development offerings on Success Map, enables employees to grow their knowledge and skills which open up more opportunities to develop their career. 麻豆原创 also fosters future-of-work-learning initiatives, such as 鈥淭he Future Learning Lab鈥, an open group of learning professionals and interested employees who want to actively shape the future of learning at 麻豆原创 in a creative way.
