Each March, International Women’s Day is commemorated on 8 March, an apt moment to reflect on women’s participation in the technology sector. According to , women currently hold only 26.7% of tech-related jobs, and similarly, technology firms with more than 10,000 employees report women’s representation at 26.2%. Multinational software company Â鶹ԭ´´ (NYSE: ) is committed to equip women to reach their full potential through Three Zeros Commitment, one of which is Zero Inequality.ÌýÌý

From left to right: Helen Selvanathan, Fiza Ismail, and Sin Ting Lim

ÌýThis year, Â鶹ԭ´´ was included in the and have won 42 awards globally for its diversity, equality, and inclusion (DE&I) efforts. In Malaysia, Â鶹ԭ´´’s workforce is represented by 45% women, with 55% being in leadership positions.Ìý

Ìý“It is imperative to create a positive environment that maintains equality and equity which Â鶹ԭ´´ embraces to create opportunity for women to grow. I am confident this year International Women’s Day can thrust this importance much further,” said Saqib Sahab, Managing Director of Â鶹ԭ´´ Malaysia.Ìý

These efforts were also seen positively throughout Â鶹ԭ´´ Malaysia, especially from the perspectives of its women leaders: Helen Selvanathan, Sin Ting Lim, and Fiza Ismail who were able to build their careers within one of the world’s largest enterprise solutions providers. As part of this month’s celebration of International Women’s Day, they share their experience as women in technology.Ìý

Helen Selvanathan: Purpose to SucceedÌý

Helen have had 25 years of experience in the IT world. She joined Â鶹ԭ´´ Asia Pacific & Japan in 2017. Having experiences in various role, she has demonstrated successful initiatives across Asia Pacific, Japan & Greater China during her tenure prior to Â鶹ԭ´´.Ìý She is currently leading the Â鶹ԭ´´ Business Women Network (BWN) SEA and driving impact through external engagement, showcasing Â鶹ԭ´´ as diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) leader. Outside of Â鶹ԭ´´, Helen likes to participate in external women development initiatives through NGOs and volunteers for impacted communities.ÌýÌý

As a leader in Â鶹ԭ´´, she finds challenges in getting everyone to take ownership of their responsibilities. Then, she admitted that seeing the big picture beyond daily task can at times prove challenging. However, she began to understand that everyone has their own minds and perspectives and tackles this by establishing an open communication.ÌýÌý

Helen has developed her confidence through immersing herself within the Â鶹ԭ´´ and technology community by taking opportunities as speakers and moderators for both internal and external events. Helen shares her keys for success, “Set a purpose for what we can do passionately. Also, be persistent and persevere to support teamwork. And finally, stay patient for success to follow.”ÌýÌý

Helen advised women who are currently pursuing career success to take ownership in their actions and responsibilities. This will help in the continuous self-improvement.Ìý

Fiza Ismail: Knowledge to SucceedÌý

Fiza Ismail is the Public Sector and Enterprise (PS & Ent) Account Lead in Â鶹ԭ´´ Malaysia. Like many others, she is part of the ‘boomerang’ community whereby when one having left Â鶹ԭ´´, one would likely find themselves rejoining Â鶹ԭ´´ years later. With her eighteen years of experience in the industry, she became knowledgeable with the Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brunei markets. Outside of Â鶹ԭ´´, she likes to engage herself in charities.Ìý

The biggest challenge that she has faced so far was in bringing together the team to achieve common goals. “I believe that confidence is really important as a leader. If you want to grow in your career, you will need to learn and do mistakes. The key part is not to repeat the same mistake again,” she advised. She also added that thinking logically and strategically during the planning phase is key to success.Ìý

“My advice would be, to think logically, you must always see 2-3 steps ahead and most importantly not be afraid,” Fiza confirmed.Ìý

Sin Ting Lim: Learn to SucceedÌý

Sin Ting is the Key Account Executive for Â鶹ԭ´´ Malaysia and regards her strongest point being communications. Before she joined Â鶹ԭ´´ through Â鶹ԭ´´ Sales Academy, she had four years of experience in business banking. Sin Ting believes in always walking the extra mile throughout her ventures. This was acknowledged when she was recognized as ‘the Southeast Asia Rookie of The Year 2022’. Outside of Â鶹ԭ´´, Sin Ting likes to learn more about the technology industry to understand better of her role.Ìý

Although the Tech industry is dominated by men, Sin Ting did not feel the same sentiment. By putting the perspective that everyone holds the same responsibilities, Sin Ting established her confidence. However, she noted that it is important for women to create leverage on the strength of empathy and being meticulous.Ìý

Having the mindset of ‘glass half full’ can help to seek possibilities to make opportunities happen. Of course, not every opportunity is successful – there will be failures and success altogether. This is where the skill of perseverance and commitment is being tested. “It is not over until it is over,” she said. At her end, Sin Ting offers some advice on expressing the result of actionable item through credibility and visibility.Ìý

Helen, Fiza, and Sin Ting have talked about their own formulas in building their success with their own set of hurdles. For them, gaining confidence can be achieved through multiple opportunities and challenges that they have overcame. This is how they can climb into making their own success: persevering and making use of the inclusive Â鶹ԭ´´ environment.ÌýÌý

While each employee is encouraged to work in harmony with their own color, Â鶹ԭ´´ lets everyone become their best individual self. Not only that, but Â鶹ԭ´´ has made the effort to keep track with the D&EI through establishing employee benefits and learning tools, such as Â鶹ԭ´´ BWN, Â鶹ԭ´´ Next Gen4All, Â鶹ԭ´´ University Alliance. These efforts have yielded positive results within the environment – creating the Â鶹ԭ´´ family into an inclusive and harmonious community.Ìý

On September 13, Â鶹ԭ´´ announced that Â鶹ԭ´´ SuccessFactors unveiled new innovations for its Human Experience Management (HXM) Suite to create a powerful way for organizations to execute on an integrated talent development strategy and create a future-ready workforce. The new capabilities are the most significant developments that SuccessFactors has had in the last decade, according to global industry analyst Josh Bersin. In APJ, Â鶹ԭ´´ reported two new leading retail companies – Chemist Warehouse in Australia, and Trent Ltd in India – have selected Â鶹ԭ´´ SuccessFactors Human Experience Management Suite (SuccessFactors) to help build the workforce agility needed to keep pace with continuous change, critical in today’s post-pandemic world.

Chemist Warehouse is Australia’s largest pharmacy retailer, operating over 500 stores and the top online pharmacy in the country. The group employs over 20,000 staff members and chose Â鶹ԭ´´ SuccessFactors to modernise its HXM system to support its rapid expansion in Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. With the Â鶹ԭ´´ solutions, the group will be able to reduce manual workloads for its system administrators, increase internal mobility of their workforce – such as cross-boarding pharmacists into corporate roles, accelerate hiring processes, and support an increased number of candidates for internship programs. Chemist Warehouse chose Â鶹ԭ´´ for its proven track record in supporting complex organisations across commercial and public sectors in the industry, with deep solution functionality on a secure platform. Through automated workflows, the group aims to improve integration into other HR and non-HR systems, create more engaging experiences for all employees and franchisees, and enhance its talent acquisition and retention efforts.

Established in 1998 as part of the Tata Group, Trent Ltd. operates more than 500 stores including Westside, one of India’s leading chains of fashion retail stores. Trent is pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, expanding its employee base by 150% in just five years. Yet, it quickly became clear Trent needed new HR management software to support its goals, catering to current and future employee needs, and boosting the employee experience to attract and retain talent. Trent selected Â鶹ԭ´´ SuccessFactors to continue its transformation and to modernise its HR landscape by managing its growing workforce with a world-class cloud solution. The SuccessFactors implementation supports a strong Â鶹ԭ´´ solution suite, including Â鶹ԭ´´ S/4 HANA and Â鶹ԭ´´ Ariba.

Over 2,000 suppliers across Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand will benefit from the program.

Over the last two years, organizations of different sizes and industries have realized, even more, the critical role technology and innovation play in business and society. The latest developments in technology provided more ways to ensure more connected enterprises, enabling them to survive and thrive amid the ‘never normal.’

However, these advancements in technology have just begun. As organizations prepare for the post-pandemic world, technologies that have been introduced in recent years are expected to continue evolving. The latest advances will also further transform how people interact and work.

Here are the tech trends that businesses need to look out for this 2022 as listed by Â鶹ԭ´´ SE (NYSE: Â鶹ԭ´´).

Embracing Digital Transformation

Since the pandemic started, the speed at which digital transformation is fundamentally changing the business landscape has dramatically increased. The developments that could have happened in a decade or so were made possible overnight in many industries.

In the Philippines, the digital sector contributes significantly to its economy. This reality indicates that organizations in the private and public sectors will continue strengthening their digital transformation initiatives. Backed by strong government support, these transformations can unlock PhP5 trillion worth of economic value by 2030, according to a recent AlphaBeta and Google report.

Nurturing Sustainability

Nowadays, embracing sustainability has become an integral part of organizations, with business leaders considering it a strategic priority. Aside from top and bottom-line, forward-looking organizations add sustainability and even purpose as dimensions to driving business success.

Among these organizations is Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). As a leading infrastructure investment company, MPIC commits to contribute to the achievement of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9, which seeks to ‘build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.’

Recently, MPIC strengthened its digital core as it embraced cloud solutions that can help consolidate, modernize, and standardize its enterprise resource (ERP) systems on a single platform. The integration into the cloud is part of the group’s sustainability philosophy of integrating business and environmental stewardship into their investment strategies. It helps improve its operations and augment sustainability initiatives, especially since Â鶹ԭ´´, MPIC’s technology partner, embeds sustainability into its core business processes.

Meanwhile, consumers are making apparent shifts to more sustainable products and services. According to a Kantar report, 75 percent of Filipino consumers seek out brands that offer ways to alleviate impacts to the environment. Even employees now make career choices based on their employer’s responsibility towards the planet. Thus, it is now even more integral to invest in innovation that considers environmental welfare while fostering economic and social development.

Integrating Decision Intelligence, Hyperautomation

In the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry noted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption can increase the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 12 percent or equivalent to $92 billion by 2030.

Digital tools like AI, including augmented analytics and simulations, make “Decision Intelligence” a realistic approach to improve organizational decision-making. Each choice or decision in such a system result from multiple process iterations, refined with the help of analytics and data intelligence. With these digital tools, decision intelligence may support and enhance human decision-making and potentially automate it, hence augmenting organizational processes to be more efficient.

Meanwhile, scalability, remote operation, and business model disruption are also becoming possible with the use of Hyper-automation. Before the pandemic, businesses have been automating many processes through technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA). This trend will continue to grow for automating business and IT activities using a disciplined, business-driven approach.

Rising Low-Code, No-Code Tech

As content creation becomes even more relevant, graphic and website designs have been streamlined so users can simply “drag” and “drop” elements to create engaging content. This trend will extend to no-code AI, where users can create systems by simply “dragging” and “dropping” ready-made modules, removing the “programming language” barrier through simple interfaces. Consequently, it will allow users to create complex and robust AI systems.

Ensuring Total Experience (TX)

Due to the pandemic, organizations needed to have an excellent Total Experience (TX) strategy or a holistic program that combines customer, user, and employee experiences. With this strategy in place, organizations can help enhance customer satisfaction and employee productivity.

Organizations need to focus on weaving in these experiences instead of working on them individually to help ensure that they will be more satisfied as teams that work as an integrated unit. This trend is expected to continue as businesses eliminate communication and process silos and emphasize providing unified experiences to their employees remotely working while interacting with customers.

Collaborating with a Technology Partner

As these trends arise, organizations need a technology partner to help them achieve their business goals this year and beyond. For Â鶹ԭ´´, embracing technology means ensuring that the organization becomes an intelligent enterprise.

As a technology partner for businesses in the country, Â鶹ԭ´´ helps make it easier by offering solutions like Rise with Â鶹ԭ´´, an intelligent enterprise framework to help kickstart businesses’ digital transformation journey. In the Philippines, MPIC is the first organization to adopt this cloud technology through this Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS), offering consolidated solutions and services needed for business transformation in one package.

Rise with Â鶹ԭ´´ also includes Â鶹ԭ´´ and its whole ecosystem of partners assisting organizations in changing at their own terms and pace to be an intelligent and sustainable enterprise by simplifying engagement and providing a guided journey.

Redefines workplace model in the never normal, with a focus on sustainability

Reception desk at Â鶹ԭ´´ office in Singapore

Singapore, South East Asia — November 30, 2021 — (NYSE: Â鶹ԭ´´) today announces that it has transformed its traditional office with dedicated desks to an activity-based workspace with free seating to maximize team collaboration and social interaction, the first in Southeast Asia (SEA) today. The new office is a result of Â鶹ԭ´´’s Pledge to Flex initiative in June 2021 to empower employees to choose where to work and when. With the help of independent consultant Change Worq, Â鶹ԭ´´ reassessed its office footprint and redesigned it for a hybrid workforce.

Â鶹ԭ´´ found that 88% of employees spent less than 50% of their working day at their desks based on a utilization study. Focusing on employee needs, the office now offers flexible spaces where employees can choose a suitable location for their activity, whether a quiet room for confidential discussions or a lounge area for the team to get together. The office promotes in-person activities for brainstorming, collaboration, and social interaction that employees miss about the office when working from home.

“Coming into the workplace is no longer about the physical amenities, it is about the employee experience which revolves around the 3Es – employee engagement, environment, and education. Engagement means offering the best career experience to our employees through our diversity and inclusion initiatives where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed,” said Verena Siow, President and Managing Director, Southeast Asia at Â鶹ԭ´´.

“Climate crisis requires collective action and supporting the environment is a key area for us to rally our employees through our sustainable practices and by reducing our carbon impact. In addition, empowering our employees for the future of work with digital skills and competences in growing areas of demand such as data analytics and AI in the Fourth Industrial Revolution helps them thrive as their jobs evolve,” added Siow.

Employee engagement for diversity and inclusion

Â鶹ԭ´´’s diversity and inclusion strategy underscores the company’s ability to attract and retain the best employees and drive innovation. Women constitute 51.2% of the workforce at Â鶹ԭ´´ SEA, including 46.1% of women in management positions.

Â鶹ԭ´´ SEA promotes mental health in the office with wellness rooms for relaxation and initiatives such as Focus Friday, where Â鶹ԭ´´ has no internal meetings in the afternoons. In addition, the local Employee Engagement teams drive numerous in-person and virtual activities and initiatives to promote physical, mental, and social health for all employees and their families throughout the year.

Â鶹ԭ´´ has won numerous HR awards in South East Asia for its commitment to employee experience, including the Tripartite Alliance Award 2021 for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices, Best Companies to Work for in Asia by HR Asia for Â鶹ԭ´´ Thailand in 2020, and Top Employers Asia Pacific for Â鶹ԭ´´ Indonesia and Â鶹ԭ´´ Philippines in 2018.

Environmental initiatives in the workplace

According to Our World in Data, energy use in commercial buildings contributes to 6.6% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. With a carbon emission goal of 90 to 110 kt in 2021, Â鶹ԭ´´ minimizes its carbon footprint by optimizing its office space and when employees are not commuting to work. Aligned with the Singapore Green Plan for a sustainable future, Â鶹ԭ´´ has dedicated 5% of the total space to greeneries that minimizes indoor air pollutants and eco-friendly innovations such as energy-efficient LED bulbs for a healthier and greener work environment. Of the 4,000sqm office space, 70% of the area adheres to green labelling protocols.

Â鶹ԭ´´ has also launched its new Â鶹ԭ´´ Sustainability Center within the Â鶹ԭ´´ Experience Center to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. Customers and partners can learn how to use technology to drive sustainable development goals through hands-on demonstrations.

Employee learning and training for the future of work

According to the World Economic Forum, more than 1 billion jobs, almost one-third of all jobs worldwide, are likely to be transformed by technology in the next decade. In response to this constantly changing nature of work, new skills need to be developed and expanded.

Individuals and teams must find ways to access organizational knowledge and learning, and Â鶹ԭ´´, through its variety of learning and development offerings on Success Map, enables employees to grow their knowledge and skills which open up more opportunities to develop their career. Â鶹ԭ´´ also fosters future-of-work-learning initiatives, such as “The Future Learning Lab”, an open group of learning professionals and interested employees who want to actively shape the future of learning at Â鶹ԭ´´ in a creative way.

Additionally, Â鶹ԭ´´ also nurtures the future workforce through private-public initiatives like ASEAN Data Science Explorers that equip students with data analytics skills to solve pressing social issues. Â鶹ԭ´´ trains over 3000 students through higher learning institutions to meet the growing demand for data scientists and analytics through its partnership with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Â鶹ԭ´´ University Alliances is another way Â鶹ԭ´´ works with educational institutions in ASEAN to develop the next-generation talent for the future of work.
