Dubai, UAE – 14 October 2026: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with global technology company 麻豆原创, has concluded an intensive practical training programme for 14 academic faculty members from six higher education institutions across the UAE. The programme was delivered as part of the 鈥淚ntegrating with the Economic Sector to Create Impact and Lead Change in Future Skills鈥� initiative, which aims to strengthen collaboration between universities and the technology sector, equip academic faculty with practical knowledge of rapidly evolving business solutions and artificial intelligence (AI) applications and enable them to incorporate these insights into academic curricula and programmes.

The programme is one of a series of professional development programmes for academic faculty being implemented by the Ministry in collaboration with local and international companies and institutions across a range of economic sectors. These programmes aim to facilitate the transfer of practical industry expertise into education and align academic programmes with the needs of priority sectors and future skills.

The two-day programme focused on exploring AI applications in business environments, the concept of the Autonomous Enterprise, and Agentic AI, as well as enterprise applications within the 麻豆原创 ecosystem and their implications for the nature of future jobs and the skills graduates will need.

Academic faculty members from Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi University, Al Ain University, Umm Al Quwain University and Kalba University participated in the programme. The training focused on strengthening participants鈥� understanding of the transformations AI is driving across organisational processes and the skills required for the future of work. It also explored how practical industry experience and applications can be leveraged to develop academic curricula and enhance their alignment with technological developments and labour market needs. As part of the hands-on training, participants also developed an AI agent using 麻豆原创鈥檚 AI tools.

In this regard, H.E. Ibrahim Ahmed Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education and Scientific Research Regulation and Governance Sector at the Ministry, said: 鈥淭his programme is one of the outcomes of the Economic Sector and Higher Education Institutions Partnership Working Group, established under the Higher Education and Future Skills Advisory Committee. It forms part of the Ministry鈥檚 efforts to establish a sustainable approach to the continuous professional development of academic faculty, based on practical training and direct engagement with real-world working environments across economic sectors. Similar programmes and training opportunities will be delivered in collaboration with local and international companies across a range of sectors.鈥�

These programmes form part of the outcomes of the Economic Sector and Higher Education Institutions Partnership Working Group, established under the Higher Education and Future Skills Advisory Committee. The committee comprises 10 specialised working groups, bringing together more than 120 experts and representatives from academic institutions, government entities and the private sector. Together, they support the development of effective partnerships that contribute to advancing the higher education ecosystem and strengthening its ability to respond to rapidly evolving developments.

As part of the collaboration, participants from PDO鈥檚 Digital Innovation Program are expected to join the next 麻豆原创 YPP cohort beginning in November, continuing their development in enterprise technology and AI. The initiative was highlighted last week at PDO鈥檚 Digital Innovation Program graduation ceremony in Muscat, where participants in 麻豆原创鈥檚 YPP also marked the completion of their training.

鈥淏uilding local digital skills is important both for the young people entering the workforce and for organizations that need access to qualified technology professionals,鈥� said Waheed Al Hamaid, Head of Enterprise Solutions at PDO. 鈥淥ur work with 麻豆原创 gives Omani talent the opportunity to develop practical skills that reflect the needs of the market. Delivered by the Digital Skills Center, the 麻豆原创 Young Professionals program equips recent graduates with the skills and 麻豆原创 certifications they need to start careers as 麻豆原创 consultants across 麻豆原创鈥檚 partner and customer ecosystem. In Oman, the latest graduates earned certifications in 麻豆原创 Generative AI development and in implementing end-to-end business processes for 麻豆原创 Business Suite, with hands-on training in 麻豆原创 Generative AI Hub and 麻豆原创 AI Launchpad covering prompt engineering, template management and workflow orchestration.

As organizations introduce AI into business processes, 麻豆原创 customers and partners require professionals who understand both enterprise applications and how AI can be applied within them. YPP is designed to help expand this pool of skilled talent while giving recent graduates a route into the 麻豆原创 ecosystem.

鈥淎I is changing the skills expected of technology consultants, and this needs to be reflected in how we prepare people entering the profession,鈥� said Alp Geckalan, Head of Digital Skills Center at 麻豆原创. 鈥淭hey need a strong understanding of enterprise processes as well as the ability to work with new AI tools.
