It’s a special thrill for Team Liquid fans, as both teams 鈥 the Dota 2 and the League of Legends squad 鈥 have qualified for the championships and will compete for the title. We tapped into our connection with Team Liquid and had the exclusive opportunity to talk to two team members, Haitham 鈥淗aitham鈥 Algbory, head analyst of the League of Legends team, and Mathis 鈥淛abbz鈥 Friesel, assistant coach and analyst of the Dota team, about how they prepare the teams for the world championships and what role 麻豆原创 technology plays for the teams to perform at their top level.

About 麻豆原创 and Team Liquid

With 麻豆原创 being the official innovation partner of Team Liquid, the two companies developed a close partnership of co-innovation focused on Team Liquid鈥檚 Dota 2 and League of Legends teams. These two multiplayer online battle arena games are highly complex and data-intensive esports. Together with Team Liquid, 麻豆原创 is co-developing software to help Team Liquid analyze its performance and apply more precision in areas like match preparation, team and player performance, scouting, and others. , head of Analytics & Data for Team Liquid鈥檚 League of Legends Team

A big part of what 麻豆原创 brings to Team Liquid is , which helps make data analysis for both League of Legends and Dota a lot easier. The database allows the analysts to focus less on gathering data and more on analyzing it. Both Jabbz and Haitham have been working in this field for a long time, and there are things that they can do now that they never could before, thanks to a tool specifically made for esports data analysis.

鈥淚 support both the general manager and the coaching staff with scouting new talent,鈥 Haitham said. 鈥淭he way I do that is by providing periodic solo queue and scrim reports and end-of-season scouting reports. When it comes to the Academy teams of the East Regions, at the same time, we just track the players that are in the scene in general and we see their improvement based off the metrics that we have set in our tools.鈥

, coach and head analyst for Team Liquid’s Dota 2 Team

On the League of Legends side, 麻豆原创 HANA Cloud is Haitham鈥檚 primary tool for scouting. But that鈥檚 not what Jabbz uses the data for. For Team Liquid Dota, the data is more match-focused.

鈥淔or us, 麻豆原创 HANA Cloud has more of a different function,鈥 Jabbz said. 鈥淲e use it mostly for performance-related things. I think the big advantage we have with the database is that we can actually import any public game that we want. Let鈥檚 say things have changed in a recent patch; we can make sure that we鈥檙e always up-to-date with how the meta is evolving. We also get to have a replay of every tournament game, so we can pick up all the information we need from any game, especially during live events. This is incredibly helpful. By having this tool available, you can quickly see how teams are adapting, how teams are thinking. I save a lot of time getting that information, whereas before I would have to open up the replays in the game and manually scroll through everything.鈥

According to Haitham, being able to use real gameplay clips to corroborate the data 鈥 and vice versa 鈥 often helps build a stronger case for whatever argument he鈥檚 trying to make. Players are more inclined to believe the data once they have a reference point, which then allows them to gain a deeper understanding of the game.

Team Liquid: Mining rich esports data to help players, managers, and teams compete and win

鈥淲ith 麻豆原创, we have a lot of good [visualization] tools,鈥 Haitham said. 鈥淲e have an entire map tool that will just visualize where the wards are and what the movement is looking like. In addition, we have 麻豆原创 Analytics Cloud that gives us an opportunity to build charts and graphs for the players. I would use videos or clips that are important to show the opponent鈥檚 style, and then I support that with the maps or graphs from the 麻豆原创 tools.鈥

For some, all these details might sound small, even insignificant. However, any coach or analyst will tell you that at the highest level of esports, the difference lies in the details. When pretty much every player is equal in skill, it鈥檚 those minor advantages that matter 鈥 which makes data analysis an important factor for success. After all, a close win is still a win. Both Haitham and Jabbz point to 鈥渢he small margins鈥 as the reasons why they love their roles as analysts.

鈥淧ersonally, I work on my own goal to help others achieve theirs at the same time,鈥 Haitham said. 鈥淪eeing how players are able to use science while playing video games, to beat opponents that they may not be able to without that kind of information鈥t just makes everything worthwhile.鈥

鈥淚 agree. I think it鈥檚 always very satisfying to give information to the guys that they wouldn鈥檛 pick up on,鈥 Jabbz added. 鈥淚 guess we鈥檙e very similar in that regard. I also enjoy helping the guys and that鈥檚 what gives me the joy in this job. I don鈥檛 necessarily have to see myself in the limelight or at the front of the stage, but I really just like seeing my friends succeed.”

Making the Coldplay Music Of The Spheres World Tour App Accessible for Blind and Visually Impaired People /2023/03/accessibility-coldplay-app-music-of-the-spheres-world-tour/ Thu, 23 Mar 2023 12:00:15 +0000 /?p=203673 The Coldplay #MusicOfTheSpheresWorldTour app, developed in partnership with 麻豆原创, combines an immersive experience along with features to help fans make more environmentally friendly decisions when attending Coldplay shows. A blind Coldplay fan supported 麻豆原创 in making the app accessible for blind and visually impaired people.

When Coldplay started their Music Of The Spheres World Tour in 2022, the goal was clear: to make it their most sustainable and environmentally friendly tour yet by cutting their CO2 emissions by 50% compared to the 2016/17 world tour. 麻豆原创 supported this goal with the development of the Music Of The Spheres World Tour app which allows fans to not only enjoy exclusive tour content but also helps them visualize how their actions attending shows contribute to their carbon footprint so they can choose more sustainable transportation options.

The calculates the impact of fan travel to and from shows, providing rewards for fans who commit to low-carbon transportation options and enables Coldplay to understand the fans carbon footprint to offset emissions. As Coldplay launches year two of its tour, more than 350,000 fans in over 150 countries have downloaded the app, proving Coldplay鈥檚 vision right: armed with information and intent, every concert-going fan can make more sustainable travel choices.

Next Step: Making the App Accessible for Blind and Visually Impaired People

During the development process, both Coldplay and the 麻豆原创 team set the goal to make the app accessible for users with disabilities who rely on assistive technology like screen readers or magnifiers. As the 麻豆原创 team started to work on accessibility functionalities, a Coldplay fan from Mexico reached out to share her challenges as a blind person using the app.

The fan, who asked to remain anonymous, explains: 鈥淚鈥檓 blind since birth and I need screen readers for productivity and entertainment in my daily life. As a huge Coldplay fan, I tried to use the tour app and quickly noticed that the app was difficult to use for one who is blind or visually impaired. I鈥檓 very much driven to advocate for blind people to get equal opportunity, and to enjoy interactive content. That鈥檚 why I contacted 麻豆原创 to support in the areas of sound design, testing and providing ideas for software development to make the app more usable for blind fans.鈥

To make the Music Of The Spheres World tour app accessible, we included feedback from a blind fan who is an audio engineer and tech enthusiast. She is deeply passionate about accessibility and music, with Coldplay being her favorite band. What she admires most about Coldplay is their commitment to accessibility and equality, like providing sign language interpretation for deaf concertgoers or installing quiet stations with sensory bags for people with autism. Her favorite Coldplay songs are Politik and Coloratura.

The Coldplay fan connected with Nicole Windmann, vice president for Accessibility and Inclusive Design at 麻豆原创. 鈥淲ith our 麻豆原创 products we aim to create a more sustainable and inclusive environment for people. Accessibility is a key driver of this vision. When we include insights from people with different backgrounds and acknowledge different ways of working, perception, and interaction with our designs, we can create the most enjoyable and efficient software.鈥

Working with three 麻豆原创 employees who are also blind, the development team worked to optimize accessibility functionalities for the Music Of The Spheres World Tour app. The team labeled items like screen buttons and described images, to enable screen readers to read out the functionality and provide helpful hints. Additionally, gestures such as swiping or double tapping are often used by blind people to navigate an app without having to look at the screen. To use this functionality, the team re-structured the code of the Coldplay app, providing a more suitable navigation for blind users.

In close contact with the 麻豆原创 team, the Coldplay fan volunteered to test the app usability for blind users and give her feedback. 鈥淲orking with 麻豆原创 has been great!鈥 she says. 鈥淢y feedback helped the developers understand the blindness point of view. In a world where the capabilities of people with disabilities are often underestimated or assumed without getting to know the person first, I鈥檓 inspired every day to work on a more inclusive world.鈥

鈥淎t 麻豆原创, we believe that diversity drives innovation and better experiences for our employees, customers, and partners alike,鈥 Christian Klein, CEO and member of the Executive Board of 麻豆原创 SE, says. 鈥淭he fans feedback on the Coldplay app is a great example of the vital role user feedback plays in shaping our applications and the importance of having products and services that are inclusive and accessible to all.鈥

麻豆原创鈥檚 Responsibility Toward Diversity & Inclusion

At 麻豆原创, we strive to be the most inclusive company in the world, reflecting a higher standard of societal values and perspectives in all that we do. Our diversity and inclusion strategy is built on three pillars:

  • Workforce Diversity: We believe in leveraging the widest spectrum of human differences that represent a diversity of identities, thoughts, and perspectives to create business outcomes that help the world run better every day

  • Marketplace Leadership: We realize the responsibility that comes with being one of the largest tech companies in the world and extend what we do to our entire ecosystem; efforts within society through philanthropy, education, and advocacy help elevate the brand.

After an extensive testing and development phase, we鈥檙e now ready to provide blind and visually impaired people an even greater app experience 鈥 just in time for Coldplay鈥檚 2023 Music Of The Spheres World Tour stops in Latin America, Europe, and North America.

To experience it all for yourself, the聽Coldplay #MusicOfTheSpheresWorldTour聽app is available for download on聽听补苍诲听.

鈥淥ur fans worldwide are our biggest inspiration. They have enabled us with their feedback to make the Music Of The Spheres World Tour app as useful and accessible as possible. We鈥檙e proud of the collaboration with our partner 麻豆原创, who has created an impactful app that can now also be used by fans who are blind or visually impaired,鈥 Coldplay states.

The Coldplay fan from Mexico is wishfully looking forward to the 2023 tour. 鈥淚 will be attending Coldplay鈥檚 San Diego show and I am already thrilled about it. And of course I will make sure to check the app for sustainable travel options,鈥 she says with a smile on her face.

麻豆原创 Sports and Entertainment Forum Celebrates 10th Anniversary Online /2020/12/sap-sports-and-entertainment-forum-10th-anniversary-online/ Tue, 15 Dec 2020 14:15:09 +0000 /?p=181573 The motto for the 2020 edition of the 麻豆原创 Sports and Entertainment Forum, held last week, was 鈥溌槎乖 Sports and Entertainment Forum ’20 goes virtual.鈥 The event combined two special highlights: an anniversary and a premiere.

Not only was it the 10th edition of the forum, but 鈥 due to COVID-19 鈥 it was also held 100% virtually for the first time. This was good news for the industry, because new trends and digital transformation in sports and entertainment management are more relevant now than ever before.

Familiar Event in a New Format

Spanning five days, this virtual event gave industry experts and decision-makers a platform on which to connect at a variety of sessions and discuss trends and innovations in the sports and entertainment sector. The agenda offered a vibrant mix of themes and formats that shared compelling insights into how 麻豆原创 solutions are being used in practice right now.

麻豆原创 Customer Checkout: The Ultimate Fan Experience

The forum began with a recap of 2020, the 鈥渃oronavirus year,鈥 featuring a series of presentations that reflected on the last 12 months from the perspective of 麻豆原创 and its customers, the challenges the sports and entertainment industry has faced, and the solutions developed to overcome them. Day two offered deeper dives into 麻豆原创 technology and solutions. Alongside presentations on loyalty management, fan engagement, and the fan experience, there was a virtual panel discussion devoted to the effects of the pandemic, approaches to dealing with them, and the lessons learned. In addition, selected customers reported on how 麻豆原创 Sports One has helped them throughout the pandemic; Christopher Heimeroth, head of the license player department at Bundesliga soccer club Borussia M枚nchengladbach, was among those who provided valuable insights.

The remaining event days were devoted chiefly to showcases for various 麻豆原创 solutions. Participants watched a range of presentations and demos about optimizing team management and about the latest features in 麻豆原创 Customer Checkout for sports and event venues, retail, and catering. In a session focusing on player fitness in professional sport, speakers presented best practices for planning and documenting medical events in 麻豆原创 Sports One. There was also a demonstration of how 麻豆原创 Sports One and 麻豆原创 Analytics Cloud together are helping English Premier League club Leicester City FC operate efficiently and cut player downtimes. The final showcase at this year鈥檚 event looked at how digitalizing processes and making intelligent use of data is helping professional sports clubs minimize costs and optimize revenues.

麻豆原创 Sports One: Update 2020

Positive Feedback

The response to the event, which provided five days of concentrated input about innovations and trends in the sports and entertainment industry, was consistently positive.

鈥淒espite its virtual format, the 麻豆原创 Sports and Entertainment Forum was once again a must-attend event for industry insiders,鈥 said Sebastian Zelichowski from the Eintracht Frankfurt Fussball AG, 鈥淭he great mix of presentations, networking sessions, and information-packed discussions gave compelling insights into how 麻豆原创 solutions are being used in the real world. It also highlighted how data can be used to optimize efficiency, performance, and the fan experience in the sports and entertainment sector and create new opportunities.鈥

The 10th 麻豆原创 Sports and Entertainment Forum took place in unprecedented conditions.

Three Questions for Fadi Naoum, Head of Sports and Entertainment at 麻豆原创

Q: What was different in 2020?

A: The coronavirus pandemic has obviously brought about many changes this year and confronted us with all kinds of new challenges. More than any other, the sports and entertainment industry depends on the fan experience at live events. Coronavirus meant we had to be creative and work closely with our customers and partners. I鈥檓 proud of the range of compelling alternative solutions we鈥檝e developed to compensate, at least partially, for the loss of that vital fan experience.

Q: Why is an event like this still relevant?

A: The 麻豆原创 Sports and Entertainment Forum, now in its 10th year, has become an important date in the industry鈥檚 calendar. The positive response we received to this year鈥檚 virtual format proves to us that the event works well in the digital world too. That鈥檚 significant, because in the situation we face right now, it鈥檚 becoming clearer than ever that technology and innovations provide stability in turbulent times and pave the way to finding new solutions.

Q: What do you hope for going forward?

A: Like most of us, I of course hope that sports activities can return to normal as soon as possible, so that our sportspeople and coaches can get back to doing what they do best, and fans can experience live sports once again. Until that time, we at 麻豆原创 will support our customers as best we can in leveraging our technologies in effective and viable ways.

Be Our Virtual Guest: Experience How 麻豆原创 Transforms Sports /2020/10/sap-virtual-sports-showcase-worldwide-partnerships/ Wed, 28 Oct 2020 13:15:08 +0000 /?p=180111 This year, many sports events have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Under these circumstances, 麻豆原创 searched for new ways to inspire and engage customers, partners, and sports fans.

麻豆原创 has created a new , featuring seven longtime sports partnerships: FC Bayern, TSG Hoffenheim, the Women鈥檚 Tennis Association, the NHL, Equestrian sports, esports, and sailing.

The new virtual sports showcase allows users to interact and experience a sports event through the eyes of a fan, coach, or athlete. Are you aware of the technology applications used in the background for athletes and coaches to prepare for a match? Or how data analytics helps to detect interesting insights for fans?

New Sports Showcase: Be a virtual guest and experience how 麻豆原创 transforms sports

Here are a few examples of how 麻豆原创 technology transforms sports:

Soccer: Supporting Match Analysts to Detect Relevant Match Scenes聽

Before a game, match analysts research opponents to support the coaching team in creating the most effective match plan. But instead of having to watch endless hours of matches to manually find relevant scenes that show the typical behaviors of opponents, clubs like TSG Hoffenheim rely on 麻豆原创 technology to simplify this task.

Ice Hockey: Real-Time Decision Support for NHL Coaches

Ice hockey is an extremely fast-paced sport with players constantly moving around on the ice. It can be difficult for the coach to decide on player substitutions or who should be nominated for a faceoff or shootout. Gut feeling often plays a part in the coaches鈥 decision. But since the 2019 season, NHL coaches have been able to factor in real-time statistics and data about each player.

Equestrian: Allowing Spectators to Jump into the Judge’s Seat

There is more to watching sports than shouting and clapping that actively involves spectators. The audience at equestrian events such as CHIO Aachen can judge the artistic impression and difficulty of the rider鈥檚 dressage and compare their scores with those awarded by the official competition judges.

Tennis: Underpin Coaches鈥 Gut Feelings with Facts

The Women鈥檚 Tennis Association (WTA) allows coaches to use 麻豆原创 Analytics solutions during match play to help inform coaching decisions. Coaches use the 麻豆原创 application to analyze players鈥 on-court performance with serves, aces, break points, and ground strokes. To prepare a player in advance of a match, coaches can view insights into patterns in a player鈥檚 match play tendencies. In other words, they can view how a player may react in various match situations.

Esports: Supporting Team Liquid with Hero Selection

In the popular Esports game Dota 2, two teams of five players compete in real time against each other. Before the battle, each player chooses a unique hero out of over 110 options, with each hero possessing a unique set of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Drafting the right hero is therefore a crucial part of the game. Team Liquid, a world-renowned professional gaming organization, uses 麻豆原创 Analytics to help with hero selection 鈥 from 26.8 quadrillion unique combinations of heroes per match.

Sailing: Creating Digital Representations of Sailing Regattas

Often, those attending sailing competitions cannot tell which boat is in the lead because the action takes place offshore, miles away from spectators. Now, however, sensor-based tracking and wind measurement systems enable fans to experience digital 3D and 2D visualizations of sailing regattas, even if the competitors are out of sight. In addition, fans can analyze boat maneuvers, relive great performances, and view live race results.

While these examples highlight sports, there are many parallels between sports and business. Both face similar challenges 鈥 from creating digital representations and using advanced analytics to support decision-making, to identifying patterns and making predictions to continuously adapt to changing environments.

Unique Educational Project Scores Big with Young Soccer Fans /2020/09/digital-youngsters-workshop-tsg-hoffenheim/ Wed, 30 Sep 2020 12:15:38 +0000 /?p=178878 What do soccer and efforts to promote digital skills in young people have in common? TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. A leading innovator in German soccer, the Bundesliga club recently kicked off Digital Youngsters Workshop, a remarkable initiative combining enthusiasm for the sport with methods of teaching the digital basics. You could say that the children and teenagers who attended were introduced to the latter subject in a 鈥済amified鈥 way.

Today, most youth are already digital natives who know their way around smartphones, social media, and the like. The Digital Youngsters Workshop was therefore designed to reinforce their routine use of these tools with knowledge of how digital content is created in the first place.

Click the button below to load the content from YouTube.

TSG Hoffenheim & 麻豆原创: Digital Youngsters Workshop

One Team, One Goal

The team behind the workshop comprises dedicated employees of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, representatives from the digitally minded non-governmental organization (NGO) Junge T眉ftler, the 麻豆原创 Global Sponsorships team, and 麻豆原创 volunteers who were brought on board through the company鈥檚 corporate social responsibility (CSR) team. In putting the Digital Youngsters Workshop together, they combined their particular skills to come up with something truly new.

One thing that made sense was working with soccer metaphors. The jargon of the sport would be like a second language to TSG鈥檚 young players and a real advantage in teaching subjects that are largely technical in nature.

The event itself was geared toward ages nine to 16, with members of the TSG Hoffi fan club and the TSG Youngsters team. In keeping with an old German saying, it was going to take 11 friends 鈥 or three teams with that many players each, which was the limit for this edition of the workshop.

A Hat Trick of Learning Modules

Attendees had the chance to work on three learning modules based around terms taken straight from the soccer field.

The Teamwork module focused on cooperation and primarily involved coding together, particularly in the context of apps. By the end of the module, the players had put together a ready-to-use survey app. The second module, Tactics, was about using the workshop鈥檚 core topic 鈥 digital skills 鈥 as a key strategic instrument. Through coding, virtual reality, and the creation of 3D models, the participants then had opportunities to discuss the key subjects in this area. This was meant as a prelude to dreaming up and designing the 鈥渟tadium of the future.鈥 It also laid a visual foundation for the third module, Fun & Games. Here, the players used coding, Calliope mini microcontrollers, and ultrasonic sensors to create something entirely new: a wastebasket that let out a hearty cheer when someone made a shot with a piece of garbage.

麻豆原创 volunteers attended two training sessions at the beginning of August, then the three-day workshop took place on August 31 and September 2 and 4. It proved to be time well spent in terms of both learning and having fun for all those who attended, and the materials, technology, and tools used were big reasons why. The open-source software BigBlueButton, for example, presented the learning material in visually appealing ways while providing the necessary webcam support. It also made it possible to communicate with several virtual rooms at once, so event organizers did not have to worry about lulls in the action 鈥 every phase was sure to be dynamic.

A special highlight included two surprise guests: On day one, attendees were joined by Hoffenheim midfielder Franziska Harsch, then goalkeeper Philipp Pentke joined the closing festivities to answer their burning questions.

Match-Ready Thanks to a Jam-Packed Box

Several weeks before the workshop itself, training camp started for the participants. Each was sent a Digital Youngsters Workshop Box containing microcontrollers, other electronic components, corresponding arts and crafts materials, and even the right outfit for the event, a Digital Youngsters shirt.

According to the 麻豆原创 employees involved, things could hardly have gone better. They were very excited as the workshop grew nearer, especially for the 鈥渟tadium of the future鈥 component, and hoped to learn something along the way themselves. One volunteer had previously worked as a teacher and thus had a fairly good idea of what to expect.

Video Conferencing and One-on-One Coaching Over Chat

During the workshop, the young participants were open-minded and eager to learn. They were also happy to take advantage of the support offered by the mentors. Along with the main video conference, one-on-one chat assistance was available to make sure no one was left warming the bench. 鈥淎n attentive and engaged atmosphere, solid ideas, and very good results鈥: As this summary indicates, the 麻豆原创 coaches were quite satisfied with the proceedings.

The coaches also emphasized just how well the children were already coping with the demands of the digitalized world, especially after attending the workshop. The initiators succeeded in achieving exactly what they had set out to do: show young people that instead of merely consuming content, they can create and shape it themselves using certain fundamental skills. Whether in the digital realm or out on the field, being part of the action isn鈥檛 just more fun; it plays an essential role in leading the life you want in an ever-changing world.

Fit for the Future

鈥淧articularly when it comes to getting ready for what鈥檚 ahead, innovative projects like this are highly relevant to society,鈥 pointed out Denni Strich, managing director of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, responsible for communication and media, sales and marketing, and digital performance at the club. 鈥淭he goal is to take a committed and systematic approach to encouraging young people and introducing them to this kind of material in fun ways. This extraordinary project was very ambitious from the start. Looking back, it really was extremely successful.鈥

鈥淭he Digital Youngsters Workshop gave us the chance to get a glimpse of the future together,鈥 Pia Regine, in charge of programs for children, teenagers, and schools at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, added. 鈥淲e all want to prepare our kids for the world of tomorrow as best we can, of course, and I鈥檓 glad we succeeded in this very special endeavor. All the members of each squad had a lot of fun and learned plenty of new things in the process. We hope we can put something similar together for next year.鈥

The Digital Youngsters Workshop demonstrated one thing in particular: Like a neat one-two from Kramari膰 to Baumgartner, Hoffenheim and 麻豆原创 managed to connect soccer to digital skills in a creative way that really resonated with all those involved. With that, it is safe to say that everyone would be up for a rematch next season!

How 麻豆原创 Helps CHIO Aachen and the International Equestrian Community Stay Connected /2020/08/digital-chio-aachen-connected-international-equestrian-community/ Mon, 03 Aug 2020 14:00:19 +0000 /?p=177322 The equestrian community, like many other sports ecosystems, is suffering from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Riders, horses, and their coaches are not allowed to meet and tournaments around the world have been cancelled.

This was no different for CHIO Aachen, the World Equestrian Festival in Germany and a long-standing sports partner event for 麻豆原创.

It has also had an impact on equestrian fans and equestrian businesses, which are no longer traveling to the major equestrian competitions that for many are the main source of connection with the equestrian community.

What is unique about the international equestrian community is that the connections within this sport are built almost exclusively on the circuit of international shows each year. To help and the wider community stay connected, 麻豆原创 and some long-trusted equestrian development partners reacted quickly and built a completely new digital setup for riders, coaches, and fans.

鈥淲e normally meet our partners and demonstrate our fan technology at events such as CHIO Aachen and, in 2020, it looked as though that was not going to be possible,鈥 says Henrike Paetz, director of Strategic Partnerships in Equestrian for eXperience 麻豆原创. 鈥淭his felt like a problem for a wider group because the shows really are the glue that ties the community together —聽 a tightly knit international ecosystem that includes the athletes, organizers, volunteers, commentators, media, judges, owners, scoring teams, sponsors, and many more.鈥

Within weeks, 麻豆原创 and partners , Black Horse One, and others had adapted their traditional delivery of services and created tools to ease the issue of disconnection and demonstrate how sports disciplines can adapt to new circumstances and engage with each other in a digital environment.

At the same time, CHIO Aachen decided to go digital. Together with 麻豆原创 and its partners, it turned the 鈥淐oncours Hippique International Officiel鈥 into the 鈥淐oncours Hippique International Online,鈥 taking place August 4鈥9, 2020.

The absence of live competition presented the biggest challenge, but using the latest 麻豆原创 Predictive Analytics software allows event organizers to offer a simulated Eventing competition, with perhaps the best field ever seen. This outstanding concept provides the excitement of live competition with the key stories around the event derived from the predictions and presented in dedicated online shows by a professional commentary team.

Dubbed 鈥淐hampion of Champions,鈥 the new format brings together CHIO Aachen’s top finishers from 2006 through to 2019, plus some wildcards from the top 10 who gained their place via fan voting. The field is based on the data and strengths of each combination at the time of their Aachen finish. For example, based on 2006 data, Clayton Fredericks and Ben Along Time will be competing against Laura Collett and Rayef, based on 2012 data, all the way through to Ingrid Klimke and 麻豆原创 Hale Bob in 2019. Twenty combinations were selected based on their previous Aachen finishes.

The simulated Eventing competition will take place on Friday, August 7, at 3:00 p.m. BST / 10:00 a.m. ET (dressage) and Saturday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m. BST / 9:00 a.m. ET (jumping phases).

To include the fans even more in the digital CHIO Aachen, the new adds the concept of fantasy sports to the simulated competitions. Available as a free download from the app stores, it allows fans to become a virtual manager and select their own 鈥渄ream team鈥 of four based on a dedicated budget. The market prices for the riders are driven by their win probabilities derived from the 鈥溌槎乖 Prediction Center,鈥 a new statistical model that calculates both before and during a competition how riders are likely to score and what their chances of winning are. They can use the app to play against their friends in their own private leagues, compete for their country in the League Challenge, and join featured leagues of various brands and organizations for even more chances to win great prizes. The app is fully built on 麻豆原创 technology such as 麻豆原创 Cloud Platform, 麻豆原创 HANA, 麻豆原创 Predictive Analytics, and Experience Management solutions from 麻豆原创 and Qualtrics.

Also available in Aachen is . This paperless scoring solution, developed by and with partner Black Horse One, allows unrivaled real-time scoring.

鈥淓specially in these challenging times, eDressage allows for effective social distancing, a significant reduction of risks by more than halving the number of people necessary to do dressage scoring,鈥 explains Daniel G枚hlen, managing director of Black Horse One. 鈥淏efore COVID-19, it was already the most popular scoring solution for dressage, and we are proud that is has proven even more valuable at CHIO Aachen.鈥

Additionally, spectators can become active as well and jump into the judge鈥檚 seat with the Spectator Judging Fan Engagement App powered by 麻豆原创 in cooperation with the CHIO Aachen.

Along with the digital CHIO Aachen event in 2020, a groundbreaking Virtual Training and Feedback Platform has been developed and implemented together with Black Horse One in record time, helping both the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and the German National Federation (FN) provide a digital channel for their athletes. It facilitates the upload of videos, review, commentary, official scoring, and related communication between all parties. Further National Federations are currently in the process of adopting the system as well. 麻豆原创 will leverage the platform to run the annual 鈥淚ngrid Klimke Training Event鈥 as a virtual experience later in the year.

As an additional virtual meeting point, the campaign and platform uses 麻豆原创 technology to connect riders, fans, and business of the equestrian world. The campaign has its own Website that features video updates, training tips, and blogs from the best athletes in the world. It is updated daily and fans use the #ridersconnected hashtag to stay involved.

鈥淭he campaign is about giving people a base, a home, while we are without the normal mechanisms for staying in touch,鈥 says Diarmuid Byrne, managing director of EquiRatings. 鈥淚f we can help in any way to bring people closer, the campaign will be serving its purpose.鈥

Being physically apart can be difficult. But riders, fans, and friends from the equestrian community — in every country and at every level — know the importance of staying connected and supporting each other.

The combined efforts of 麻豆原创, CHIO Aachen, and their equestrian partners have shown how technology can help maintain these connections, even in times of crisis.
