Creates long-term upgrade path to S\/4 HANA.<\/p>\n

Woolworths is the first company in Asia Pacific to avail itself of a program designed to help companies modernise their existing 麻豆原创 footprints.<\/p>\n

The retailer will shift its current ECC 6.0 麻豆原创 environment to run on Microsoft Azure, though details of exactly what the project entails are thin.<\/p>\n

麻豆原创\u2019s A\/NZ president and managing director Damien Bueno said in a statement that \u201cWoolworths has one of the largest 麻豆原创 environments in the world, which supports business-critical processes, including retail operations and finance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMigrating 麻豆原创 applications and platforms to Azure, including 麻豆原创 ERP and 麻豆原创 Cloud Platform, will enable this great business to innovate faster than ever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn time, this will also support Woolworths\u2019 move to 麻豆原创 S\/4 HANA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Woolworths started decommissioning its in-house IT infrastructure a few years ago, setting a\u00a0clear path to run on Azure<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It also consumes a\u00a0number of cloud services from Google<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Woolworths CIO John Hunt said Azure is continuing to support the retailer\u2019s \u201congoing digital transformation\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are confident it will provide us with the performance and flexibility required to meet our ever evolving 麻豆原创 requirements in providing an exceptional customer experience,\u201d Hunt said.<\/p>\n

The project is taking place under the auspices of Embrace, a modernisation scheme run by 麻豆原创 and Microsoft that was launched late last year.<\/p>\n

Woolworths is said to be the first company in the Asia Pacific Japan region, and one of the first in the world, to avail itself of Embrace.<\/p>\n

Embrace is designed to simplify the move \u201cfrom on-premise editions of 麻豆原创 ERP to 麻豆原创 S\/4HANA for customers,\u201d the two vendors said last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndustry market bundles will create a road map to the cloud for customers in focused industries, with a singular reference architecture and path to streamline implementation,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

The two vendors also offer combined support for the transition to occur.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear when Woolworths might move up to S\/4 HANA, but it\u2019s an upgrade on the minds of most 麻豆原创 users.<\/p>\n

Optus, for example,\u00a0revealed earlier this month<\/a>\u00a0it is preparing its own move to S\/4 HANA, though again the timeline is unclear.<\/p>\n
