PMO Rishi Dhillon told an 麻豆原创 virtual industry forum last week that AGL had also been well-placed technology-wise coming into COVID-19 lockdowns on the back of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itnews.com.au\/news\/agl-plans-300m-digital-transformation-433213\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three-year, $300 million investment<\/a>\u00a0in digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur investment in our digital and mobile platforms over the past three years has been absolutely fantastic in servicing our customers,\u201d Dhillon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investment in 麻豆原创 and also our network and capability in our infrastructure has been reaffirmed with this position that we\u2019re in now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the past couple of years, AGL has overhauled its 麻豆原创 core to S\/4 HANA and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itnews.com.au\/news\/agl-goes-extreme-sap-494074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">taken an \u2018extreme 麻豆原创\u2019 philosophy<\/a>\u00a0to the way it augments the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Stil, like other organisations, Dhillon said that AGL had faced some challenges in \u201cmobilising an entire workforce\u201d in a short period, and in keeping operations in India and the Philippines online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of our corporate offices and our sales offices are in lockdown in different regions across Australia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also have a lot of generation plants across a lot of geographical locations and they\u2019re operating under their respective response plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also have partner services out of the Philippines and India that operate under different jurisdictions as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo trying to mobilise an entire workforce in a situation that\u2019s changing daily presented a lot of challenges along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dhillon said AGL had worked with its service providers outside Australia and provided them with solutions \u201cto be able to service our customers while they\u2019re working from home as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said AGL had looked to Microsoft Teams to handle much of the collaboration needed during the lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom an organisation perspective we\u2019ve shifted a lot of our collaboration across to Microsoft Teams as our platform, and that\u2019s working really really well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The company is running most of its operations virtually, including \u201chackathons, planning\/strategic days, and team days\u201d, as well as company social events like virtual trivia and drinks.<\/p>\n<p>This had \u201callowed people to stay connected and to share ideas,\u201d Dhillon noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019ve now discovered is the new way of collaborating has just accelerated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had a lot more people participate \u2026 wanting to make human connections has actually driven a higher rate of participation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the health surveys we\u2019ve done across the organisation prove that a lot of people are a lot more engaged in some of the initiatives we want to try and drive and deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As lockdowns eased, Dhillon said AGL would need to take stock of what arrangements it kept and accepted as a new way of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor AGL, there will be a time where we do a stocktake with regards to what the experience has shown us and what we\u2019ve learned from it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dhillon said that AGL would continue to invest in mobilising its workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investment is going to continue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really underway [already] with being cloud-first in everything we do at the moment, and it\u2019s going to continue to grow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is going to really show us a new way of how we come together as an organisation \u2026 and strike the right balance for a new breed of people and talent to be able to find a good work-life balance while they work for our organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This article first appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itnews.com.au\/news\/agl-energy-predicts-more-spend-on-mobilising-its-workforce-547961?utm_source=feed&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=editors_picks\">iTnews.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Join our second forum in the <a href=\"https:\/\/events.sap.com\/au\/adaptive-strategies-accelerated\/en\/home?source=blog-au-news_sap_com-adaptive-strategies-2-news-centre-&amp;campaigncode=CRM-XA20-WEB-ADP2REG\"><strong>Adaptive Strategies in a Changed World<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0virtual series on August 6<sup>th<\/sup>, and hear from Industry experts on the risk and opportunity impact our core industries now face. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/events.sap.com\/au\/adaptive-strategies-accelerated\/en\/home?source=blog-au-news_sap_com-adaptive-strategies-2-news-centre-&amp;campaigncode=CRM-XA20-WEB-ADP2REG\">Register Now.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looks to Teams to handle rise in collaboration workload.
