The post To RISE or Not To RISE appeared first on 鶹ԭ Australia & New Zealand News Center.

]]>
This is a key decision facing most organisations that run their estate in an on-premise environment or natively on a hyperscaler and are thinking about the future.

It is not an easy decision to make and requires deep analysis relating to their current operating model, the resource and skill mix available and 鶹ԭ’s future roadmap and strategy. Organizations also need to identify the expected operational, commercial and process benefits to justify the move to RISE and change their status quo.

Having been associated with since its inception, I have seen how 鶹ԭ’s offering has matured over the years. 鶹ԭ is making significant investments into the operational and delivery capabilities of RISE. 鶹ԭ’s strategy has also evolved to fully support this cloud model. It is my firm belief that NOW is the right time for customers to decide and move to RISE with 鶹ԭ. Here are some of the reasons.

Maturity

RISE with 鶹ԭ was launched by 鶹ԭ’s CEO, Christian Klein in January 2021. Since then, the offering has matured significantly. The commercialisation of a large proportion of 鶹ԭ’s previously on-premise solution offerings has occurred to allow them to now be offered in the cloud model.

There has been significant investment in tools, automation and people so that the delivery of the cloud service is world class. The ‘Enterprise Cloud Services’ or ECS organisation is the delivery arm of 鶹ԭ for the RISE offering where these investments have occurred.

ECS supports the operational delivery & support of the RISE offering and is separate to the implementation services which implements S/4HANA. ECS is purely involved in the operational, day-to-day, business-as-usual (BAU) maintenance and management of customer’s 鶹ԭ landscape under RISE.

New Board Area – Customer Services & Delivery

At the start of 2024, a new board area was established called, ‘Customer Services & Delivery’ which brings together all the resources involved in the architecture and delivery of RISE and associated services. This board area now has architecture and pre-sales teams involved in architecting our customer’s cloud solutions (Cloud architects), the services teams that implement the S/4HANA capabilities (Services teams) and the teams involved in the actual day-to-day operational delivery of service for RISE customers (ECS team).

This was a strategic decision and is extremely important as it reflects the internal transformation within 鶹ԭ as it expands from an engineering, product development, and a sales organisation, into a cloud service provider ensuring customer success through adoption and delivery of cloud services and focuses on achieving successful customer outcomes.

Our customers will gain from RISE with 鶹ԭ by utilising 鶹ԭ’s expertise and experience in managing S/4HANA customers globally and benefiting from 鶹ԭ’s focus on customer adoption and outcome driven approach.

You can read about these here.

Incentives

Since RISE with 鶹ԭ launched, 鶹ԭ has been listening to customer feedback and has released the RISE with 鶹ԭ Migration and Modernisation program in Jan 2024. The news article is here.

Through this program 鶹ԭ recognises the complexity of the transformation required and offers to actively support customers on their journey to the cloud and to help make the transition easier.

The program offers customers a Migration Methodology to provide guidance across their migration journey, providing roadmaps for innovations, and more significantly, it offers commercial incentives for customers moving to RISE.

This incentive is called the RISE Transformation Incentive and is a limited time fund through till the end of 2024 that 鶹ԭ has created to support customers moving to RISE. Through this program, 鶹ԭ customers can leverage this fund and receive incentives in the form of credits as a means of offsetting some of the costs involved in their transformation journeys.

This incentive will be offered to current 鶹ԭ S/4HANA and 鶹ԭ ECC on-premise customers moving their 鶹ԭ landscape to RISE and they will stand to gain credits as a percentage of the amount of their RISE with 鶹ԭ subscription. These credits can be utilized to offset either the on-premise maintenance costs, implementation services costs or the cost of the RISE subscription fee itself.

To date I have engaged with several customers that have benefited from this incentive. It is my view that this incentive fund represents a significant opportunity for customers to initiate their move to RISE in 2024.

Partner Ecosystem

When RISE was first launched, our partner ecosystem was quite apprehensive. However, over time, our partners have also understood that RISE with 鶹ԭ is at the core of the 鶹ԭ Cloud Strategy and have now jointly worked with 鶹ԭ to tailor their own offerings based on the RISE implementation methodologies.

Several of 鶹ԭ’s partners have also become RISE customers including Accenture, IBM, Wipro, HCL, Microsoft, which further goes to show the strength of the offering and the trust that partners, most of whom have their own 鶹ԭ practices, bestow upon 鶹ԭ in managing their 鶹ԭ landscapes for them.

So, if you are sitting on the fence and trying to decide whether the time is right to move to RISE, I would say that 2024 is definitely the year you should make the decision and take the plunge. I can safely say that you will get the kind of support from 鶹ԭ that you would have never seen before!

Looking at the logo currently assigned to 鶹ԭ SuccessFactors in the Apple App store, if you weren’t an industry professional like me, you might be misled into believing that it’s a dating application. A heart with two ‘people’ nestled inside. Success would be finding the perfect mate. This comparison is maybe more apt than it initially seems.

HR solutions aim to provide many things for employees, but interestingly many of these features have an apt comparison to the kinds of things a dating app might also provide. Dating apps have come a long way technologically, and intellectually in the past 10 years. So why can’t similar technology be used to help companies tap into top-quality talent and to help job seekers find the right organization to work for?

So why can’t similar (to dating apps) technology be used to help companies tap into top-quality talent and for job seekers to find the right organization to work for?

Talent Acquisition:

  • Recruiters can scan lists of potential candidates and evaluate skills, background, likes and dislikes and more to determine if they should take the next step
  • Dating apps provide much the same, a person’s profile being their ‘resume’ and you taking the recruiting role evaluate a person’s fit, then …
  • Recruiters invite people to an interview, where initial impressions are made and everyone is on their best behaviour. The recruiter will either ‘swipe right’ or ‘swipe left’ on your profile given how well you do.
  • Dating apps aim to get you on a date, where initial impressions and best behaviour are key to success, and your potential date will decide if they want things to progress.

Succession and Career Development

SuccessFactors and other HR Solutions include match making for many purposes:

  • Matching to Mentors for career development
  • Matching to existing roles using skills and competencies
  • Evaluating what skills you have and using algorithms showing you a career path

Dating apps mirror these features by:

  • Matching you to potential mates for relationship development
  • Using your interests and background to match you to groups of people with similar interests and backgrounds
  • Instead of skills and competencies, likes and personal preferences can be used to facilitate matches

As silly as this seems on the surface, there could be lots to learn from dating applications when considering a good HR solution. Does the solution just treat applicants, or hopeful matches as numbers to crunch, or is there a ‘human’ dimension that allows for more nuanced evaluations, highlighting the ‘soft’ attributes that candidates, or successors should possess for a successful match? Does the HR solution provide an easy way to find matches, with enough personal information to get a good feeling for the individual, but not so much that their privacy is threatened? does a decent job of outlining some of the important aspects of a candidate or person selection system in describing a solution called OnSkil.

Giving these very clear parallels, it is important as a job seeker or internal candidate to take some lessons from the world of dating applications (whether you use, or have used them or not):

  • Keep your profile up to date! If your last post in Tinder was from 5 years ago, potential matches will see you as not progressing, or doing anything with your life. Not an attractive date. Recruiters and organisations looking to fill roles might feel the same about your 5 years out of date LinkedIN profile.
  • Think carefully about the messages you put out there. Referencing too much personal information can be detrimental on a professional resume or career site when it comes to portraying your skills and qualifications. Stick to the facts that make a difference whether dating or job hunting. Choose personal information that will help you and present you in your best light. You don’t need to include information about EVERY previous relationship, for example.

To round things out, it’s clear that there are lessons to be learned on both sides of the game. Job hunting and career progression are both endeavours that share a lot with the world of online dating and could provide valuable insights for both. Thinking professionally about your personal life and how potential dates will see you is just as beneficial as thinking about perception when advertising your skills and qualifications to a potential date … err, employer. Good luck out there!

Metcash is the leading wholesale distribution and marketing company in Australia, uniquely dedicated to bolstering independent Retailers across the food, liquor and hardware sectors. They support their network of iconic local Australian stores to be “the best store in their town”. With the widest retail distribution network nationally, their partnership with 鶹ԭ is a critical roadmap for transformation, innovation and empowerment.

Metcash identified the opportunity to make the ordering of Warehouse and ‘Direct to Store’ products and services that much simpler for it’s extensive network of Food Retailers. Creating a singular ‘marketplace’ that contained all the critical information required by Retailers to make well informed decisions on the products they procured, would have significant benefits across it’s network.

Enter Sorted – an e-commerce marketplace platform forged in collaboration with 鶹ԭ Commerce Cloud. The technology reflects a shift in behaviours, supplier relations and distribution. Powered by 鶹ԭ Commerce Cloud, Sorted seamlessly integrates advanced features, enabling real-time order tracking, product insights and a frictionless digital ordering system.

Metcash’s investment in Sorted is empowering their Retailers. Simon Williams, who leads B2B E-commerce for Metcash, reflects, “It wasn’t always easy for Retailers to identify great-selling lines stocked elsewhere in the network, that they could be stocking in their store.” Sorted addresses this issue, by analysing sales data from across the Metcash network and delivering personalised insights to Retailers based on regional sales trends. The benefits were felt by independent Retailers like Darren Partridge of IGA Thrumster, who shared, “It’s allowed us to put it in a process of ordering, invoicing and receiving those products. I describe Sorted as the Retailer’s online store – easy to navigate and use.”

The simplicity and efficiency that Sorted has brought to Metcash’s operations has been game changing. By integrating 80,000 ‘Direct to Store’ products alongside the Warehouse range into Sorted, Metcash’s suppliers are experience exponential growth. Artisan brands such as Killer Coffee experienced a remarkable 60% YoY sales surge. 36,000 transactions are processed every week and hitting new highs as every week goes past. New suppliers are joining at a ‘rate of knots’, over 430 ‘Direct to Store’ Suppliers are featured on Sorted.

The operational efficiency gains from Sorted are undeniable. Retailers are saving significant amounts of time each week when ordering products and services, emphasising the platform’s impact on streamlining processes. The benefits of Metcash’s partnership with 鶹ԭ extend beyond numbers; With Ask ROSS integration into Sorted and a ‘doors open’ approach for businesses, Metcash remains true to its vision of being an advocate for local economies and independent retailers.

Darren Partridge’s story exemplifies Sorted’s impact on Retailers: “It’s allowed us to put in a process of ordering, invoicing and receiving those products.” As Metcash continues its journey with 鶹ԭ Commerce Cloud, it serves as a testament to 鶹ԭ’s transformative capabilities at scale. The Sorted platform development promises to unlock even more distribution and marketing opportunities, ensuring that the retailers Metcash serves, continue to be the best stores in their town.

Organic eggs at my local supermarket are always sold out. Consumers clearly know what they want and are willing to pay for it. Shoppers nowadays implicitly trust food labels. But what about labels for other types of products, such as the steel frying pan to cook those eggs?

Steelmaking contributes 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, which means shifting consumer behaviour could be significant. Unfortunately, there are no sustainability labels for frying pans yet, not to mention more complex products like phones, or cars. However, the world is currently in a race of monumental proportions to bring exactly this type of information to the consumer’s fingertips.

This article explores the impact of this shift, as producers race to capture the market for sustainable products. It considers the implications of geopolitics, the significance of regulations and government incentives that are shaping the rules for product-related declarations. It also looks at the practical implications, of what businesses can do today to prepare for this shift.

The Chicken and Egg Problem

To make any claims about products, requires benchmarking and industry averages for comparison. It also requires clear standards and methods for data collection and calculation, with common reference points, so all stakeholders can make informed decisions. Transparency is needed beyond the operations of the producer of the final product, as every entity in the chain needs to contribute.

The question is where to start, from the final product and work backwards, or at the beginning of the chain? The is a prime example that is driven from the end of the chain. The request for data is passed from the car makers to tier 1 suppliers, and so on, until it reaches the start of the chain. Eventually, regardless of if it is a frying pan or a car, the requests end up with the primary producers. This means that mining and metals represent the key to unlocking a future where consumers can make more sustainable product choices.

All the Eggs in One Basket?

Unlike eggs, minerals are not evenly distributed across the globe. Think of it as raisins sticking out of a fruit loaf. There are more raisins inside, but only a few are visible and accessible on the surface. When it comes to natural resources, only a small number of countries are at the heart of several critical global supply chains. The mining and metals industries are therefore currently facing a rising trend of resource nationalism, as countries seek to secure their access to critical resources and promote domestic production.

In addition, the processing of ore historically shifted to regions with emerging economies as companies tried to lower operating costs. These regions may not have strict regulations in place, or there could be issues with data availability and transparency. Significant investment, international co-operation, and potential adjustments to trade is needed to steer towards greater transparency.

Making Omelettes Means Breaking Eggs

Organic eggs have consumers’ trust now, but it required a grassroots transformation of the industry. That trust must still be earned for more complex products. Whether it is a car or a frying pan, it will be an iron marathon. This much is clear from the recent report from the International Energy Agency on

Governments do want to channel private and public spending towards meaningful and sustainable change, but it requires a fine balance to protect consumers along the way. Initiatives range from preventing greenwashing to new regulatory instruments to enforce change. Examples include:

  1. Tightening of consumer labels and standardisation of product-related claims:
    • The US and the EU’s for consumer products
    • The EU’s
  2. Providing incentives to change:
    • Public green procurement initiatives in the &
    • The US Inflation Reduction Act () and the EU’s
  3. Enforcing change and protecting interests with changing geopolitical dynamics:
    • The EU’s regulation requires importers to disclose the embedded emissions
    • The EU aims to ensure continued access to critical raw materials
  4. Standardising data collection, calculation methods and reporting:
    • The emissions intensity of products needs to be declared, per US and EU
    • Targets must follow sector-specific guidelines, such as the

The Goose that Lays the Golden Eggs

Business leaders are looking to capitalize on this emerging market. Their customers are demanding it. But there are several barriers when attempting to calculate product-related greenhouse gas emissions. Firstly, gathering data throughout the supply chain is challenging. Inconsistent methodologies and data quality further complicate the process. Finally, cost constraints may hinder businesses from investing in robust measurement and verification systems.

The good news is thatbusinesses can already take steps today, and start making progress by using digital solutions. Find out how 鶹ԭ can support businesses with Transforming Carbon Accounting Systems and specifically, how they support Steel producers to decarbonise.

]]>
AUCKLAND, New Zealand 9 May 2023 Corporate food franchisee has implemented multiple 鶹ԭ solutions, including 鶹ԭ , across its operations in New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and California. The move has provided the NZX-and ASX-listed company with a single, consistent ERP system for the first time, (NYSE: 鶹ԭ) today announced.

Restaurant Brands specialises in managing multi-site branded food retail chains. Headquartered in Auckland, it operates KFC stores in New Zealand, Australia and California, Taco Bell stores in Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, Pizza Hut stores in New Zealand and Hawaii and Carl’s Jr. stores in New Zealand. It also has customer service centres in Auckland, Sydney, Honolulu and Los Angeles.

The company had grown rapidly, primarily through acquisition, surpassing NZ$1.2 billion revenue in 2022. Previously the organisation operated a number of different systems which meant generating consolidated reports was not easy. The required manual intervention took time and had the potential to introduce errors.

The 鶹ԭ implementation, which took 10 months, was managed by 鶹ԭ Partner Lagom and comprised of solutions including: 鶹ԭ S/4 HANA Private Cloud Edition, 鶹ԭ EnableNow, 鶹ԭ Concur, and (BTP).

Restaurant Brands is seeing significant business benefits since going live in April 2022. Increased automation has led to faster payment runs, month-end processes and consolidated reports, giving better information for faster decision making. Automation has also freed up resources to enable greater collaboration and sharing of knowledge across the different regions and has also helped to solve the organisation’s supply chain integration issues, with teams now able to successfully manage supply and demand planning as well as anticipate any future global supply chain disruptions. Over a hundred thousand orders have been placed and processed via the new 鶹ԭ system to get produce out to the stores.

Transitioning from a number of systems to a single, new ERP system has given Restaurant Brands the opportunity to implement 鶹ԭ Best Practice and align all its operations to a consistent way of working. Previously there was not a set of global work processes across the different regions. Now all areas (or functions) of the business are using the system in a consistent way, which gives clear insight into how each area and the whole business is working.

Thuy Le-Kim, Group Systems Accountant and Product Owner at Restaurant Brands, says having a single solution means the business is more efficient, has greater transparency and has the flexibility to scale rapidly as required.

“We wanted a system that would be able to grow and evolve with the business. We now have consistent, robust processes that mean we can increase in size without needing to dramatically increase the number of people we need to run the business.”

“Our approach was unusual, we didn’t start with a current state analysis, because each region was operating differently. Instead, we started by looking at 鶹ԭ Best Practice to see if it was right for our needs – if it would deliver the key outcomes we needed. Any requests to vary from standard went to our Solution Standardisation Board to review to make sure that the change was necessary and that the required extra work to change, test and maintain the variation would be justified by the outcome,” says Thuy.

“There were definitely some things that we changed, but there was a lot of rigor around the decision-making to ensure the organisation could maintain changes on an ongoing basis. Significant work was done to ensure that there was minimal variation from standards, the result was a system that works effectively with a reduced cost of ownership over its lifetime.”

Sofiane Ainine, Head of MidMarket, 鶹ԭ Australia and New Zealand, says that implementing cloud solutions was a key factor in Restaurant Brands being able to simplify its processes to achieve its business goals.

“Implementing 鶹ԭ cloud solutions, including 鶹ԭ S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, shows the value our RISE with 鶹ԭ approach is delivering for customers. The ability to consolidate, streamline and standardise operations across multiple geographies is enabling Restaurant Brands to adapt to change faster and free up more resource across the organisation to focus on opportunities for growth.”

Restaurant Brands worked with 鶹ԭ Partner Lagom, on product selection and implementation and continues to work with Lagom as its application management and centre of excellence partner.

“Lagom was definitely the right fit for our organisation. We’re a fairly lean and flat organisation, so we needed a partner who was agile and had a lot of experience. We relied on and valued their expertise and their flexibility to adapt throughout the process,” says Thuy.

Paul Tombleson, General Manager of Delivery at Lagom, who closely oversaw the project, says that the approach that Lagom adopted ensured that the team never lost focus on the outcome and all aspects of delivery were looked into.

“The focus on doing the right things at the right time, while utilising the RISE with 鶹ԭ approach, resulting in a successful implementation across NZ, Australia, Hawaii and California in the space of 10 months. The difference this initiative has made to the business is substantial and Lagom are really proud of being the partner that helped to enable this remarkable journey for Restaurant Brands.”

Restaurant Brands’ future plans include exploring additional opportunities to support ESG and reporting requirements.

AUCKLAND New Zealand owned pipe and tank manufacturer, Bailey, has completed a rapid implementation of multiple 鶹ԭ cloud solutions, significantly reducing its reliance on paper-based processes and increasing efficiency and mobility for the company, (NYSE: 鶹ԭ) today announced.

Bailey, formerly Bailey Tanks, began operations in 1973 and manufactures plastic water tanks and pipes for the primary industries and construction sectors. Relying on an outdated, heavily customised, legacy system to manage a fleet of 14 truck and trailer units across the country, and dependant on a largely paper-based production process, Bailey began moving its operations to the cloud in February 2022, to become agile, more mobile and have access to greater functionality and process visibility.

The implementation, which took just five months, was managed by 鶹ԭ Partner, Realtech and comprised of solutions including: 鶹ԭ S/4 HANA Public Cloud, , 鶹ԭ business process management and transportation management, and 鶹ԭ Intelligent Spend and Business Network.

Almost nine months on, Bailey is already realising significant business benefits. Production at its two manufacturing sites in Auckland and Christchurch are completely paperless, with tablets and screens now on the factory floor. This marks a significant departure from the previous system, where orders were printed on paper and changes required staff to find, amend and reprint orders manually. Another benefit realised was greater visibility into Bailey’s just-in-time manufacturing and integration with its fleet of trucks, which allows staff to better manage changing customer and transport requirements.

David Bailey, Chief Executive Officer at Bailey, said a fast rollout and having the right support team were key to the successful implementation.

“We’re growing quickly as a company and have other things we need to focus on. We knew a speedy implementation of 鶹ԭ cloud solutions might be hard, but the benefits would be worth the effort. And we were right, with our staff enthusiastically embracing the new technology and significant business benefits already being realised.”

“Keeping up with the dynamic nature of planning is now simple and can be managed from anywhere in the world. Our people also feel more connected and empowered, and we now have a really scalable solution which gives us plenty of headroom to manage the growth trajectory we’re on.

“Getting the right partner is critical for a project like this. Realtech had a good, structured approach and a detailed plan. They managed the project well, ensuring critical milestones were met and providing regular updates. Having access to direct product support from the 鶹ԭ team and after sales support also allowed us to move quickly and confidently as an organisation”, continued Bailey.

Sofiane Ainine, Head of MidMarket, 鶹ԭ Australia and New Zealand, says that Bailey is proof that 鶹ԭ is fit for manufacturing companies of any size.

“Implementing 鶹ԭ cloud solutions, including 鶹ԭ S/4HANA Public Cloud, in just five months shows the value 鶹ԭ isdelivering for our customers. The improved visibility, mobility and integration made possible by our cloud solutions gives Bailey the ability to adapt quickly to change and provides the organisation with a springboard for future growth.”

Andrew Spicer, Managing Director, Realtech New Zealand, says we always look forward to collaborating with customers who have a clear vision and are eager to enhance their business operations.

“Bailey was proactive in their approach to deploying 鶹ԭ S/4HANA Public Cloud and was open to innovative ideas for process improvements; it is great to see where our knowledge and insights have significantly contributed to their business success.”

“At Realtech, we have always taken great pride in our work, and seeing our clients achieve their objectives through collaborating with the team gives us immense satisfaction.”

Bailey is now looking at how it can further improve its processes and workflow management.

To achieve true digital transformation, organizations must have seamless access to their mission-critical business data no matter where it resides. Yet with data landscapes distributed among different applications and systems both in the cloud and on premises, organizations spend countless resources extracting, rebuilding, and integrating their data.

When organizations fully harness the power of their data, they become enterprises that use it to innovate faster, create new revenue streams, and adapt to unanticipated changes.

At 鶹ԭ, we know the opportunity to capture and use data strategically has never been more paramount. Today, we’re taking a significant step forward — along with other leaders in our industry — to enable customers to simplify their data landscape and unleash the power of business data.

From the early days of polishing rocks and shaping axes, to the recent launch of the most powerful rocket to the moon, an enduring human venture has crossed 50,000 years: the act of making tools. The human instinct to apply tools to build bigger and better things is primal—even in the much shorter span of the information age that gave rise to the modern business systems of the world.

Without digital technologies like ERP, Cloud, and AI, pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and Moderna would have taken much longer to trial, produce and critical vaccines to people. Tools and platforms behind these solutions are often hidden from the limelight. We need the right tools to operate, tinker with, connect, and compose new systems, which has created an unprecedented need for skilled IT professionals.

Passive End Users to Shape-Shifters
Around the world, there are roughly 26 million software developers today – same as the population of Australia – who use an array of programming languages, tools, and technologies. However, there are 100+ million professionals – end users – running critical business processes in banks, airlines, hospitals, retail companies, factories, and government agencies.

In the next 10 years, a vast majority is expected to join hands in building, not merely consuming digital solutions. For them to take a leap across the treacherous waters of full-stack programming, many (LCNC) are being made available. It should help trigger their primal instincts to build – to personalise, to restructure business processes, design new apps, construct workflows, and deploy machine learning models on data to make better decisions.

Such LCNC tools result in faster collaboration across teams, reduced cost of innovation, greater automation, and better user experience. This has been the – the Finland based aspiring technology leader in the premium electric motorcycles segment, where a small team created new apps in record time to manage evolving business needs.

However, while greater democratisation of software building occurs, it is not as if code has suddenly become irrelevant. Nor has it removed the need for software engineers. In fact, AI infused tools such as promise a future where tools transform into extensions of a skilled worker.

Systems for the Future
The humble axe remained the longest used tool in human history. It took millions of years in our evolutionary past before we built complex structures. Tools and skills are two sides of the same coin, and we achieved speed and scale by sharing knowledge of tools across communities, across generations.

To build digital systems of the future, we need to bring in the community. are already thinking about investing on better technology platforms. The future of work will need a that enables knowledge workers of varying skillsets to compose new business processes and re-shape their digital worlds.

With the collective intelligence, and better tools, what will we build? Bigger, better, faster, cheaper systems. Perhaps also, different, something unimaginable yet.

Steve Jobs told us in 2007 as an indicator: “In the end, we try to make tools for people, “and we’re constantly surprised with what people do with them.”

For business to thrive and grow, or even to remain solvent, the process and procedures that have traditionally been accepted in the Finance department needs to change fast.

The future of business is paperless, and it is coming faster than anyone imagined, with the rate of automation having increased fivefold during the pandemic lockdowns. Old fashioned Accounts Payable (A/P) models of pieces of paper flowing through businesses seeking approvals, coding or additional information have rapidly become impossible to operate with the large scale Work from Home movement.

will only continue to gather momentum as more businesses recognise the inevitable. Tremendous improvements in are making the decision to transition to an automated solution easier than ever.

Businesses understand that they must have leaner A/P staffing to reduce overheads, and the productivity gains and enhancement from mobile, cloud-based A/P automation tools is now impossible to ignore. The repetitive nature of A/P processing and the inherent time-consuming drudgery involved can be eliminated, releasing the employee to move to more value adding tasks, improving both employee morale and productivity in a single stroke.

and into the future will both expect and demand that businesses utilise the most modern technology available to empower them to do the role to their upmost ability. Only by doing so will businesses be able to attract and retain the best talent.

What are the key factors in successful

Mobility – As the need for people to conduct businesses wherever they are (office/home/café/interstate) only increases, so does the importance of mobile capabilities in systems increases. Such mobility enables managers to approve invoices wherever they are, vastly speeding up the process which improves organisational efficiency. The mobility factor gives decision makers within the organisation real time visibility into exactly what is happening which enables better decision making. Both cash flow and P&L forecasting are vastly improved.

AI driven automation – Another important productivity enhancement tool is to utilise increasingly sophisticated machine learning in the pursuit of improved productivity and accuracy within the finance department. From extracting and populating key data, suggesting account coding or even working out complicated departmental splits the utilisation of A-I to facilitate the speed of transactions is a key part of the automation productivity story.

Supplier portals – Another key enhancement which adds value both internally and externally is the ability to give key suppliers visibility and insight into payment information, saving time for an organisation’s staff in answering queries and improving and deepening the relationship between businesses.

ERP integration – A necessary and standard feature required to ensure productivity gains are achieved is a seamless integration into the ERP system. This ensures accuracy of data and allows the real time visibility provided by A/P automation to flow through the entire organisation.

Further benefits accrue to businesses in regards increased transparency of data, ease of data storage and retrieval, minimising time and cost of audit, enhanced accuracy and importantly, reduced risk of fraud.

The future of successful business lies in automation of key manual process to provide efficiency. To scale and grow profitably manual paper-based processing must end. offers the means to achieve this digital transformation now. The pandemic has only accelerated the process.

Access to all the experience and expertise 鶹ԭ Concur has gained in assisting thousands of businesses to go paperless and move business processes to the Cloud is only a click away, as you can . Act now and a digital A/P process and an improved business is as little as 6 weeks away.
