  • Vestas Wind Systems A/S, a Danish company that designs, manufactures, installs and services wind turbines across the world, continues to drive efficiency in its procurement operations with its latest rollout of 麻豆原创 Ariba Sourcing and 麻豆原创 Ariba Contracts solutions integrated with the 麻豆原创 Signature Management applications by DocuSign. The company is now expanding its digital transformation to streamline collaboration with suppliers and mitigate risk with 麻豆原创 Ariba Supply Chain Collaboration for Buyers and 麻豆原创 Ariba Supplier Risk solutions.
  • Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd., a Japanese high-tech manufacturing company with Latin American headquarters in Brazil, recently rolled out 麻豆原创 Ariba solutions, automating and standardizing its sourcing and supplier lifecycle and performance processes. By digitally transforming its procurement function, Furukawa Electric expects to improve productivity and realize savings within a few months.
  • Grundfos, a Danish provider of pumps for heating, air conditioning, irrigation and other uses, recently implemented 麻豆原创 Ariba Supply Chain Collaboration for Buyers, with support from Accenture, to streamline processes, transactions and interactions with suppliers. Onboarding suppliers globally will continue in the upcoming years.

Network and Cloud-Based Solutions Match Supply with Demand

In response to supply chain disruption caused by COVID-19, 麻豆原创 opened access to the solution, allowing buyers to post immediate sourcing needs and permitting suppliers on Ariba Network to respond. Since the March 10 announcement, buyer postings and supplier responses increased by 58 percent and 404 percent respectively.

More than 25,000 new suppliers joined Ariba Network in the first quarter, bringing the total number of companies connected to 4.8 million and providing organizations with more sourcing options as they adjust supply chains in this state of disruption. More than US$3.3 trillion in global commerce flows annually through Ariba Network. Concurrently, 麻豆原创 Fieldglass solutions added nearly 1 million new workers. More than US$55 billion in spend on external workforce flows annually through 麻豆原创 Fieldglass solutions.

In January this year, I was standing on a stage with Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer of the legendary rock band, Iron Maiden, at 麻豆原创鈥檚 regional kick-off meeting in Barcelona. We shared our dreams for 2020 and talked about turning customers into fans. We could never have guessed that three months later, the world would turn on its head. Almost simultaneously, we saw the outbreak of a global pandemic coupled with the collapse of the oil price that has shaken the world to its core. We鈥檝e have been accustomed to things like social distancing, panic buying and widespread lockdowns; scenes that you expect only in a Hollywood blockbuster.

While we are all grappling with a very different world right now, in time business and consumer confidence will return, bolstering transformation and ultimately driving growth. Many people are referring to the perfect storm; I see huge potential related to the outcomes of disruption. A force majeure like COVID-19 can be every bit as transformative as a financial crisis or other world events that have had global significance through the ages. Enterprises are rethinking their business models, their supply chains and changing their approaches to security, business continuity, and remote work. Governments are rallying their resources to get insights into the effects of the crisis and to get on top of the catastrophe.

There鈥檚 never been a better opportunity to help our customers deliver unique insights, and ensure agility, control and the ability to execute 鈥 not just now, but also post-crisis. People will need to work, and agile, transformative businesses will flourish. Companies that effectively navigate disruptions often succeed because they invest in their core customer segments early and anticipate behaviours.

So how can a company like 麻豆原创 become part of the global solution to the pandemic? For a start, we鈥檙e offering a slew of free technology tools and platforms to customers (and anyone else) to help them not only deal with pandemic-related issues but anticipate what sorts of opportunities the crisis will open up:

Using this network, one 麻豆原创 customer that is building a new hospital in the US was able to find a supplier with 500 hospital beds in less than 30 minutes.

We鈥檙e helping managers check in with their employees. The world went virtual overnight, and any company that hopes to continue operating anywhere near normal levels will need to make sure their workers are okay, safe and healthy – and this doesn鈥檛 end in the first week they鈥檙e home. We鈥檝e seen a spike in the usage of our free聽, which enables companies to detect the sentiment of their employees since the crisis began. The mental health of their employees has to be on the mind of companies.

In Italy, our presales team developed a Coronavirus dashboard and offered it for free to customers, partners, our communities. The dashboard allows users to analyse the contagion spread in depth, compared to that one included in the Johns Hopkins CSSE dashboard.

We鈥檙e supporting the next generation of professionals and users with our best-in-class digital learning, by offering students and subject-matter experts safe and healthy learning environments to continue their education virtually. We鈥檙e offering them free access to select learning journeys for students at one of the 3,800 member universities of the 麻豆原创 University Alliances program, online courses allowing young learners to explore technology, as well as the massive open online courses (MOOCs) available on the open麻豆原创 platform.

Many businesses are taking advantage of the 鈥榣ocate鈥 feature within software to track employees stranded overseas. While business travel has abruptly ended, other business expenses tracked by 麻豆原创 Concur offerings confirm that activity in China is picking up a little.

In a series of compelling video conversations, recognized industry experts, customers, and 麻豆原创 executives shared especially timely and no-nonsense insights into the business value of procurement agility, reliability, and transparency. The agenda featured thought-provoking geopolitical trend talks, lessons learned from customers, solution strategy updates, and product demonstrations. This is the first in a series summarizing the .

New Procurement Experience: Agile, Reliable, Transparent

First up was Chris Haydon, president of 麻豆原创 Procurement Solutions, who assured listeners that 鈥渢ogether, we will get through all these challenging times.鈥 Acknowledging COVID-19, he said that its increasing impact mirrored our growing realization of how connected and dependent we are on each other.

HPE: Path to Transformation

For a great example of intelligent spend management in action, I pivoted to Lucille Trickett, senior director of Global Solutions for the Office of Legal Affairs and Administration at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). In her video, she shared how HPE is using a suite of intelligent solutions from 麻豆原创 to holistically view and manage multiple categories of spend from indirect, travel and expense, contingent labor, and service providers.

As a long-time 麻豆原创 Ariba customer and partner, Trickett said that HPE鈥檚 transformation to the cloud was originally slated for two phases, starting with source-to-contract and followed by procure-to-pay processes. The company then decided to bring in . The second phase coincided with an overall next-generation IT transformation at HPE that would also consolidate enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems on . One of the objectives was to dramatically simplify and consolidate the customer, vendor, and partner master data structure.

鈥淲e now have a holistic view of our relationship with an entity, regardless of whether they鈥檙e a customer, partner, supplier, or all of the above. We took the time and effort to clean up our vendor master database and the new one was optimized by 39 percent,鈥 said Trickett. 鈥淕iven the size and scale of the [procure-to-pay] project, it was absolutely imperative that the business unit and global functions within the HPE company be ready for these changes.鈥

Trickett called the transformation journey an incredible experience for everyone involved: 鈥淣ot only did we deliver everything we had committed to deliver in a changing environment, but we also found opportunities to drive additional innovation as we delved deep to solve issues along the way. We also strengthened our partnerships and collaboration, not just internally within HPE, but more importantly with our 麻豆原创 family. I鈥檓 looking forward to working with the 麻豆原创 team to design and innovate in the procurement arena for the future.鈥

As safety and well-being issues dominate global news headlines in the wake of the spread of CIVID-19, 麻豆原创 has announced it is opening up free access to two of its leading applications to assist businesses grappling with the effects of the coronavirus.

According to Alicia Tillman, Global Chief Marketing Officer at 麻豆原创 Africa, all businesses are facing unprecedented challenges as the impact on the global economy continues. 鈥淏usiness travel is restricted; events are cancelled, and supply chains have been weakened. It is not business-as-usual in any sense of the phrase. 麻豆原创 will open access to its 麻豆原创 Ariba Discovery solution for the next 90 days to enable any buyer to post their immediate sourcing needs, and for any supplier to respond if they can deliver. The solution will be free to anyone to use for posting and responding to sourcing requests.

The company has also announced that between March 13 and March 31st, any individual traveler can sign up for TripIt and receive the Pro version for six months. TripIt forms part of 麻豆原创 Concur and processes hundreds of thousands of travel itineraries for people around the world, monitoring flights and alerting them to any changes or delays. Existing TripIt users will also get the premium service complimentary for six months.
